PLAN FOR TEACHING SKILL - Teacher : Nguyen Thi Thu Huong - Class : 6 3 - Date : 03/3/2009 - Period : 74 Unit 12 – Sports and Pastimes P.74 B.1 – B.3 I. Aims : - After the lesson, Ss can talk what somebody does in his (her) free time. II. Language contents : 1. Vocabulary : go to the movies, go fishing, play video games, … 2. Grammar : Present Simple tense III. Techniques : - Developing Ss’ listening, speaking and reading skills. IV. Method : - Communicative approach. V. Teaching aids : - Textbooks, some pictures and a cassette player. VI. Procedures : * Checking the previous lesson. - Read aloud the sentences about Lan and Nam. - Answer the questions : a. Which sports does Lan play? → She swims, does aerobics and plays badminton. b. Does Nam play table tennis? → Yes, he does. A. Warm up : - A small talk among T and Ss is made. The following may be used as cues. a. Do you like listening to music? b. What do you do in your free time? B. New lesson : T’s and Ss’ activities : 1. Presentation : -Ss are introduced the lesson through the pictures in textbooks. -Ss listen to the tape twice to get good pronunciation from native speakers. The lesson contents : B.1) Listen and Repeat. -Ss are explained new words. * New words : -go to the movies -go fishing -play video games. 2. Practice : -Ss are asked to ask and answer about the 6 pictures (B.1). -Ss work in pairs, asking and answering about the 6 pictures. -Ss present their work to class. -T corrects Ss’ mistakes. - Then Ss are asked to practice asking and answering about the 6 person in textbooks (Phuong, Ly, Nam, Lan, Tuan, Long). * Production : -Ss are asked to talk to one another, using the question “What do (does) you (he/ she/ they) do in free time?”. B.2) Practice with a partner. Ask and answer the questions. -What do you do in your free time? I listen to music (play video games/ go fishing/ watch TV/…). B.3) Listen and Read. -What does he do in his free time ? -He plays soccer. * Answer : b) What does Ly do in her free time ? She watches T.V c) What does Nam do in his free time? He reads. d) What does Lan do in her free time? She listens to music. e) What does Tuan do in his free time? He plays video games. C. Homework : - Finish exercise B.1, B.3/ p.104, 105 (workbooks). - Prepare : Unit 12 (B.4 – B.6) : How often …? ******************************** P.73 A.4 - A.6 I. Procedures : * Checking the previous lesson. - Look at the pictures in textbooks/ p.124, asking and answering the questions : a. What is he doing? – He is swimming. b. What are they doing? – They are playing volleyball. A. Warm up : - A small talk among T and Ss is made. The following may be used as cues. a. Which spots do you play ? b. Do you like plying soccer ? B. New lesson : T’s and Ss’ activities : The lesson contents : 1. Presentation : -T introduces the 2 pictures talking about Lan and Nam. - T also explains the suggestion of this part. 2. Practice : - Ss read the 4 questions below the text and master their content. - T has Ss read the text silently so as to get information. -Then Ss working independently, answering the questions. - Some pairs of Ss present their work to class after swapping their answers with partners. 1. Presentation : - T introduces the question “Which sports do you play?” and helps Ss answer this question. 2. Practice : - T asks Ss to practice asking and answering about what the people in the pictures are doing. - After that, some pairs of Ss present their work to A.4) Read. Then answer the questions. *Answers: a) Lan plays badminton , does aerobics and swims. b) No, she doesn’t. c) Nam plays soccer, jogs and plays table tennis. d) Yes, he does. A.5) Write. a) Ask your partner and write their answers. -Which sports do you play? class. - Ss work in pairs, practice asking and answering the question “Which sports do you play?” - Some pairs of s present to class. -T gives correction. 3. Production : - Ss are asked to practice speaking freely, basing on A.6 “Remember”. -I jog (swim/ play badminton/ skip/ play basketball/ …). b) Write about the sports you play. -I play table tennis (volleyball/ soccer/ …). A.6) Remember. a. - What is she doing? - She is playing the guitar. b. - What is he playing? - He is playing soccer. C.
