I Definition of people and organization management

People management is a way to both control and ensure harmony and acceptance between the interests and aspirations of enterprises, organizations, and personnel At the same time, it also helps to develop the capacity of each individual in the organization It meets the requirements of individuals and businesses in current society People management means training and fostering people Managers must guide and help them perform their roles, functions, obligations, and powers in the organizational system

Management of people and organizations must first determine the correct position of each person in the collective, in the system of an organization, clearly defining their functions, powers, and social roles Management needs to clearly define the rights, obligations, and roles of personnel in the collective Managing people also means creating for all individuals the most favorable conditions for them to best perform their social roles, linking the interests

of each individual with the interests of the collective and the nation

Create an environment and culture of exchange between the staff, and with all levels of business management Enterprises need to create all conditions to help employees promote their capacity and dedication but still balance life with work Enterprises need to create a bridge connecting employees together, into a strong team, helping to accelerate the development of the business Leaders need to help employees adapt, and harmonize with each other, with the collective in order to create both independence and creativity for individuals, and an organic relationship between them and other members

1 Management level

1.1 Senior Management

This position requires a person to have knowledge of business operations management Senior management must be flexible and sensitive to external factors Because these factors can affect the business activities of enterprises They need to have a broad vision to decide

on long-term strategies

Trang 5

The most important thing is to pay attention to all behaviors, perceptions, and attitudes of employees toward the company's business Have a high sense of responsibility Senior management should have strategic management capabilities specific to the business 1.2 Middle Management

In this position at the management level, it is necessary for a manager to have and master professional competence and knowledge of what management is

They are responsible for fulfilling requests from senior management The middle management will control the jobs, and the number of employees varies by department 1.3 Downgrade Management

This downgrading manager position is responsible for ensuring and ensuring that the plans are set out They carry out the decisions assigned by middle and senior management Decisions from lower management will be short-term in nature, do not have a great influence on the external market, and do not show the strategy and depth like senior and middle management

2 Manager’s Role in Business

to accomplish the set goals

The informational role is also placed on the manager's role when they have to collect information from subordinates, select and review it to report to superiors At the same time,

as well as giving outside useful and beneficial information for your business to help your business develop by the set goals

Trang 6

2.2 Specific and detailed roles

The specific role is that managers must evoke and connect the collective spirit because they are responsible for everything, especially the progress and efficiency of the work, so it is necessary to create a united team for a common goal To be promoted to a management position, that person must also be the most experienced, knowledgeable, and seasoned person So their role includes imparting knowledge and experience

The role of managers in an organization is to ensure the safety and security of their subordinates, they will not be able to complete their work without the contribution of their subordinates This not only helps to improve the capacity and help the members but also to find and train the right people who will follow in the management step in the future

3 Effective ways to manage employees

3.1 Evaluate and direct the capacity of employees

Performance appraisals of employees should be conducted periodically and regularly Based

on the results from the evaluation, leaders will better understand the strengths and weaknesses of their employees Thereby, it is possible to make a decision to divide work and nominate suitable positions for each employee Employee evaluation is extremely useful, managers can detect, reward and retain high-performing employees, talented individuals who will contribute to the development of the organization

Whether employees are performing well or poorly, employee evaluation is for managers to guide the next stage in the development process Instead of just pointing out gaps in knowledge and skills, it's best to sit down with the employee and suggest the skills training needed to improve the skills he or she needs

3.2, Clear feedback and listen to employees

Managers should respond by communicating clearly to employees instead of reprrmanding them Tell your employees that there is a problem if the quality of the work they are performing is plummeting

Trang 7

Communication is a two-way conversation and managers should be prepared to listen to employees’ perspectives Is there a reason for the change in work attitude? The subordinates

no longer put much effort into the work because they are not satisfied with something? Exploiting the root cause of all problems is paramount Communicate what the person needs

to change, and how the approach to work should be adjusted, and the manager can provide a timeline for them to turn things around and improve performance Sometimes all an employee needs is the right push in the right direction

3.3 Align employees with the overall goals of the organization

Employees who focus solely on personal goals sometimes lead to self-isolation, disengagement, and less cooperation The best way for all team members to work collaboratively together effectively is to onent them to work towards a common goal Company goals are achieved quickly and employee management is more effective when all employees are working towards a common goal

Highly effective employee management always ensures that their employees master the common goals set, plan their actions, and value their contributions once they are achieved It will take a long time for management to set goals that are ambitious enough but not beyond the reach of employees Take the time to talk to your employees about their abilities and goals, so that you can come up with a suitable common goal

3.4 Motivation for employees by rewarding

To manage employees effectively, you need to make sure your employees feel valued and recognized for their contributions with regular reward programs Most employees choose reward programs that improve their relationship with their boss, and employees say regular rewards encourage them to be more creative and productive

Increasing motivation by rewarding employees allows managers to send daily rewards to their employees, posting the rewards on the internal online bulletin board

3.5 Effective working environment

Trang 8

Let's aim to create a healthy working environment, fair competition, and focus on work-life balance for employees

By building a happy, comfortable, and cohesive working environment so that employees always love going to work, employee management will become simple and effective Besides, encouraging employees to take more breaks will help them always be motivated to work and be mentally comfortable, able to work more productively and creatively Many businesses now provide break areas with games, tea, coffee, and snacks so employees can leave their desks and relax

Question 1 How successful do you think Helen Bower’s new plan will be?

Helen's new plan is unlikely to succeed in achieving its goal of increasing productivity and profits for the business For several reasons:

- Impact on quality: The result of Helen cutting idle time and increasing production quota also clearly shows that waste will skyrocket Because what employees need is to rest and work in a reasonable environment to be effective for production Thereby showing that the focus on quantity has come at the expense of quality Lower-quality products can lead to customer dissatisfaction, and returns and damage the company's reputation in the market

- Employee Motivation: By taking Helen's "the hired help" approach and removing privileges for them such as profit sharing and the company's football field can cause employees to lose motivation Energy and feel that going to work is boring and no longer suitable for them They may feel underappreciated and belittled, leading to reduced morale and productivity at work which in turn affects the business

- Threat of salary cut: Helen has announced to cut wages for employees who do not increase productivity by 10% which can create pressure and anxiety in the staff of the business While that announcement may be a short-term motivator, it is negative, coercive, and overly burdensome on employees, incapable of fostering a positive work environment in the long run Employees will only focus on increasing productivity so that they don't get a pay cut rather than actively contributing their best efforts

Trang 9

- Increased training costs: The above information mentioned that revenue has increased significantly under Helen's leadership This shows that employees are leaving the business, which leads to an increase in the company's need to recruit new employees and increases training costs High turnover can affect workflow, leading to a reduction in overall productivity and new employees not having the same expertise and expertise as the old employees

- Lack of listening and understanding of employees: With her decision, Helen stopped listening and seeking advice from employees as well as she dismissed their opinions and complaints, which could create problems Out anger and disapproval from employees Employees will feel disengaged and undervalued, leading to reduced commitment to work and a lack of initiative and creativity to improve processes and productivity

Through these factors, it is clear that Helen's approach to employees lacks a professional management style, which can be detrimental to employee morale, engagement and ultimately business performance whole business

II Challenges that managers face

In the working environment, whether the business 1s large or small, difficulties in operating the department and managing human resources are common in many businesses If this situation is not recognized early and corrected in time, it will affect the development of the business

Poor communication with employees

One of the biggest challenges managers face is communication, and it's a very basic skill However, effective communication is not an easy matter, as each employee has a different personality Therefore, misunderstandings or conflicts in communication cannot be avoided Therefore, leaders should limit this problem by creating more dialogue with employees; Find ways to communicate ideas in a coherent, clear, and understandable way with your employees

Lack of culture in the company

Trang 10

Talking about the challenges of managers in the enterprise, it is impossible not to mention the lack of office culture Culture in the enterprise is one of the intangible values but has a strong influence on all work, activities and life of employees Therefore, let's build a corporate culture from the beginning so that it is a guideline, an advantage to help managers make the right decisions, as well as build a management process that is suitable for the team staff

Don't know how to motivate employees

The manager is always a decisive factor that strongly influences the psychology and working attitude of employees Therefore, creating motivation and bringing positive effects is an essential task of managers Managers must not only motivate employees to work, leaders must motivate themselves This is also one of the great challenges of the head

Ambiguous about the goal of a certain project

The goal of a business is to take the company to the next level So if the project or task 1s not clear, it will lead to an illogical process or not fully meeting expectations When thinking is not coherent, it is difficult for managers to monitor and evaluate the quality of employees' work

Poor performance management and results

Each project or each work process has its own ways of evaluating efficiency through indicators of performance, revenue, profit, etc However, how do those tasks become clear and Ease of tracking is one of the challenges of a leader Managers should learn to apply new methods and models to evaluate results as well as manage performance accordingly Not keeping up with the changes of technology

In this day and age, with the rapid development of technology, a lot of software and tools have appeared to save time and optimize workflow Therefore, if the leader continues to apply traditional thinking and tools, it will be difficult to compete with domestic and foreign competitors Therefore, administrators need to actively and flexibly apply new technologies

to their work processes

Trang 11

Question2 What challenges does Helen confront?

Organizations and businesses are facing an era in which technology changes rapidly, and natural and social resources are gradually exhausted, especially employees’ sense of and commitment to the organization also changed in complexity compared to previous generations All these challenges have a strong impact on the role of managers and leaders in the organization, which requires each leader to continuously improve his capacity to meet the requirements of the public position to adapt to the pressure of market innovation and the speed of business development

Faced with challenges and a range of risks that remain unidentified, business leaders are forced to be concerned with how their businesses will be impacted and what they must do next Therefore, the previous rules and standards may no longer work to their fullest potential In other words, at the present time, leadership will require higher adaptability, decisive and faster decision-making ability along with a willingness to change the organization to catch up with new development trends of the world

Leading and steering the business boat is never flat And becoming a manager 1s the dream

of many people But as a manager, you become a leader Then you will have to handle your own work while managing and leading others This has made it very difficult for managers

to take on this role And the difficulties and pressures that the Manager position has to face are really many So we will find out what are the challenges that Helen faces

When she moved into a new role with no previous leadership experience, it forced Helen to learn a lot and it took a long time to experience She must acquire the in-depth knowledge to tackle complex corporate challenges and formulate the right strategies and tactics that will determine whether the company rises to new heights or encounters setbacks In Ms Helen's case, her father left her a well-managed, mid-sized company with its headquarters in Kansas City and three factories scattered throughout Missouri Her current responsibilities entail finding the most efficient and optimal ways to run the company Therefore, when she took

on this role, she saw a significant development as Japanese companies entered the heavy industrial equipment market Determined to surpass her father's achievements, Helen chose

to implement new rules and procedures Currently, Helen faces five major challenges:
