1 INTRODUCTION

Marketing is an important aspect of business operations, considered a core factor for success

in a competitive marketplace According to renowned economist Philip Kotler: "Marketing

is the process of creating value value for customers and build lasting relationships with them.” This becomes even more important in the travel and hospitality industry, where customer experience is a key factor in differentiating and gaining the trust of customers

In recent years, with the introduction of foreign tourism into Vietnam, the number of searches for Vietnamese tourism has increased dramatically Vietnam's tourism industry has recently undergone many changes In particular, the tourism industry has experienced tremendous growth and is currently leading the economy(Le, 2016)

Accommodation establishments, especially hotels, are constantly being born to achieve optimal business efficiency and increase competitiveness in the market And one of the means to help hotels access the market is the bridge between the market and the business, which is marketing activities(Kotler et al., 2014) Marketing in business carries a certain importance Effective marketing strategies are crucial for businesses 1n the hospitality industry to attract and retain customers, differentiate themselves from the competition and ultimately drive revenue growth

However, not all businesses understand Marketing well and apply it effectively Many businesses are still using traditional methods and have not yet taken advantage of the benefits of new marketing technologies and channels According to a PwC report, only 19%

of businesses in the Asia-Pacific region use enough digital technology to grow their business Some businesses still use traditional methods such as advertising on television or newspapers, while today's customers often consume content on online platforms such as YouTube or Facebook.(Le, 2016) Failure to adapt to new customer habits can cause those businesses to lose the opportunity to reach customers

The main purpose of this report is to evaluate the effectiveness of the hotel's current marketing strategies and tactics To do that, we will analyze and compare two notable hotels

in the hospitality industry These are the Rex Hotel and the Caravelle Hotel, two notable and competitive locations in the same segment of the hotel market We will compare and analyze

how these two hotels approach their customers with their marketing strategies Both hotels are premium brands However, the level of focus, media and marketing strategy will vary depending on the size, audience and goals of each hotel For example, Caravelle hotel is a larger hotel and is geared towards an international clientele Meanwhile, Rex Hotel wants to focus more on local customers

The report includes analysis and comparison sections between Rex and Caravelle hotels, identify the two hotels' market targets, analyze and evaluate the 4Ps of the two hotels’ marketing mix, and evaluate product and service strategy of the two hotels In this section,

we will delve into each aspect of the two hotels to get a complete and holistic view of their marketing From there, make recommendations and suggestions to improve marketing strategies and enhance competition in the tourism and hospitality industry

Based on comparative analysis, it will help readers have an overview and deeper

understanding of these two hotels, as well as provide readers with useful information to enhance their marketing strategies

The hotel industry in Vietnam has been experiencing significant growth over the years, with many international hotel chains expanding their operations in the country This growth has led to increased competition among hotels, leading to the need for effective market segmentation strategies

We will analyze and compare the market segmentation strategies of two prominent hotels in

Ho Chi Minh City - Rex Hotel Saigon and Caravelle We will consider their positioning strategies and market segmentations to understand how they differentiate themselves in the highly competitive hotel industry(Kotler et al., 2014)

In this report, we will analyze and compare the market segmentation strategies of two prominent hotels Rex Hotel Saigon and Caravelle Before going to analyze and compare the market segmentation of the two hotels I will briefly explain their brand positioning strategy Positioning Strategy

According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, the number of international visitors to Vietnam in April 2023 was estimated at 984,146 arrivals, an increase of 9.9% compared to March 2023 and an increase of 1,305.9% over the same period in 2022 4 months of 2023 is estimated to reach 3,683,702 arrivals, an increase of 3,888.5% over the same period in 2022 The number of domestic tourists in the first 4 months of 2023 is 38,000 thousand, of which 16,900 thousand are visitors During the day, 21,100 thousand people were guests who stayed overnight at the accommodation Based on the above data, we classify the following market segments by geographical factors into 3 parts: world region, country and climate
