kind person He is passionate about traveling, afraid of being left alone, so he really wants to make friends with people and discover the interesting things of different lands, that's why Hieu has become a direction tour guide.

Finally, a 22-year-old guy named Nguyen Dang Khoa, has been working at IHG

(InterContinental Hotels Group) for 2.5 years with the position of Club InterContinental Attendant According to him, the salary he receives for this job is about 6-8 million VND depending on the work performance This salary is not too high compared to the market average, but for a young person like him, this is considered an acceptable salary.

3.

Education and training background of the interviewees :

In terms of education, all four have a background in the tourism industry My Dung graduated from Hue University, course 37, majoring in tourism and travel management training Although this is not the number one priority for university admissions, My Dung shared that maybe some fate brought her to tourism She said that her knowledge of human resource management has helped her a lot in her current job Dung also revealed that at that time, she had to retake this human resource management course because she got an F after the first time, and that was the last time she let herself get an F, that's why she She studied this subject very carefully and then got an A in the second time

Bong also graduated in tourism like My Dung, but her career is a bit different - that is Bong, a girl from Quang Ngai Exactly, she is a 5th class student (class year 2015-2018) of Danang Tourism Vocational College She shared that she chose this industry because of her strong love for tourism and wanted to stick her whole career in this industry Because it is a vocational training school, the basic skills and skills in the industry are very well trained, students from year 2 have been able to practice in many places, by third year, most of them have gone to work know She also shared that the skills she finds most useful and helps her the most in her current job are sales skills and people management skills

After the two girls above, we have a good guy, he graduated from the University of Commerce majoring in hotel management and travel in 2018 He also comes to tourism because of love and passion for discovery Travel to new lands During his years at the school, he has learned a lot of skills needed for the job, of which the most useful skill, according to him, is the leadership skill he learned in the subject "leadership" He also shared that he is very good at volunteering

to be the leader as well as the leader of the class to practice more leadership and

communication skills Those trainings helped him gain more confidence in his current job as a tour guide

Trang 5

the most recent course Khoa has a relatively fast university path compared to his peers, and

he has been employed by IHG since he was a student Perhaps being a person of Generation Z, Khoa has a quite different way of thinking than the above He shared that “most of the subjects

at school just help him imagine what his future job will be like and have the most basic knowledge to work with That is why for him there is no such thing as the most important subject In fact, for him personally, studying at school does not help him too much in his current job Most of the subjects in the school are just theoretical books and in practice it is much more problematic

Although the lecturers are all experienced and enthusiastic, depending on the hotel environment I work in later, there will be different jobs and ways of doing things in that position In general, there are things you have to do to understand and realize.

4 Current employment information :

1 At present, how many years of experience do you have in the tourism industry? Can

you tell me more about these jobs before your current jobs?

Case 1: Ms Dung has experience working at Vinpearl Luxury Da Nang with the position of Head of the Culinary Department team in areas such as (Europe - Asia - Buffet - Bar) for 5 years, from 2017 to the present My Dung discussed her current jobs that when she joined Vinpearl, she trained at private recruitment, which was a fair and democratic working environment, and treated employees with a salary compared to the common level of her employer top Danang As the Head of Culinary Department, you have to rely on the daily number of customers to make a list of dishes for the following days She shared that in the early days of taking on the management role, she made mistakes for other employees to comment on There are many feelings of pressure in her body, but fortunately she overcame it and became more excellent.

Case 2: Ms Bong shared that due to the epidemic, she has only been in the tourism industry for 2-3 years and has not accumulated much And now she also has another unrelated job, a job with a stable income during the pandemic, causing great difficulties for the tourism industry However, because of her love for travel, this is only a temporary job, she will soon return to the tourism industry Being trained in professional skills at the school and graduating in 2018, Ms Bong has actively practiced sales and tour operators at Ben Thanh tourist company Da Nang since her 2nd year when she was at university She has had many experiences and learned many lessons for herself while working in tourism.

Trang 6

Cuba, etc.

Case 4: He is working at IHG (Intercontinental Hotel Group) as an employee at Club InterContinental And before that, he also practiced for 7 months at the corporation This job helped him understand what the standard of a 5-star hotel is, and learned a lot of in-depth knowledge about the intern group (IHG) It also provides a stable monthly income Working in

a corporate environment made him realize that reality is the most important, although he has not been in the tourism industry for a long time, he feels like he is becoming more professional every day.

2 What are the main responsibilities of your job? Can you share some things about

your work ( a day of being )?

Case 1: The main responsibility of Dung's job is to manage, make a list of dishes for the next day, handle financial problems Daily work: control staff about (clothes service spirit -personnel management - division of staff areas in charge - supervision)

Case 2: Due to being a trainee with few years of experience, Bong was assigned positions such

as product sales, managing a number of small jobs A working day of Bong will focus on internships and practical professional learning, and she always tries her best to complete the assigned work.

Case 3: As a tour guide, Andy's main job responsibility is to lead a group of people, sometimes from many places, and for that reason I am responsible for all my words and actions His day starts from waking up at 6am to hit the road and coming home at 9pm Andy will take care of the guests because they want the guide to show them what they want to know

Case 4: The main task in his job is to anticipate the needs of guests and act accordingly, adjusting to the F&B area In addition, he also cooperates with room service, front desk department, etc to ensure the health or safety of customers.

3 What experiences have you gained during your time at your current job?

Do you take courses to improve your skills?

Case 1: For Ms Dung, the job has helped her learn experience in human resource management, important problem-solving skills and confidence because she is a daughter of Hue, has been very gentle and gentle In addition, she responds skillfully to complaints from guests All thanks to the practical experience she gathered after many years of working, and training courses of corporations and companies.

Case 2: Thanks to her hard work from her school years, Ms Bong has learned many practical lessons from product sales skills and management skills In fact, she only studied at the company Ben Thanh tourist Da Nang, but did not learn any more advanced skills courses But

it is clear that the experience she has gained is more than the knowledge in books and schools Case 3: For Andy, what he feels the most gained is leadership and communication skills As a tourguide leading a group of people, sometimes from many places and so I have to take

Trang 7

trust for new people are also a very important thing to focus on He feels more confident, before he was shy, did not dare to communicate with strangers, especially foreigners From the time I entered the profession until now, I have been afraid You must love and be hospitable and friendly so that your customers will have sympathy for you Customers will understand that they will become a native speaker and ready to bring them an interesting and authentic tour of Vietnam.

In addition, he understands what foreign guests want Usually when coming to a new land and many different features from their own country, guests will have the most need to experience the local things, he puts himself as a guest what will he expect from the tour and the tour guide mine And Andy understands guests with his own heart, so he is loved by many tourists.

He did not attend any courses to improve, perhaps the company training at the beginning of his career All because of the spirit of experience that gave him so much experience!

Case 4: After completing the internship, he accumulated and understood what the standard of

a 5-star hotel is, learned a lot of in-depth knowledge about the intern group (IHG) Also learn from managers/directors how they lead employees to work and how they train employees from interns to full-time positions.

And he is also taking a group course called "IHG Leading Others" This course is exclusively for company employees and is completely free This is one of the stepping stones to advance to higher positions

4 For current/similar positions, how will the recruitment process take place?

Are there any strict requirements for this position?

Case 1: For a human resource management job like her, it will take many years to strive, and have accumulated knowledge from many areas in the hotel The position requires management skills, handling important issues As for F&B employees, it will require moderate, important to be enthusiastic and eager to learn Skills will gradually improve over time Case 2: Sales jobs will be recruited on the company homepage, or social media posts and people will sign up This is a job, according to the interviewer, that there are no strict requirements in recruitment, but to do well, it takes a lot of patience and effort to learn and hone knowledge and soft skills for yourself.

Case 3: For the current position of a tourguide, Andy feels that recruiting is not too difficult, but becoming a professional requires really hard work to learn and experience Because the tourist environment is also a fierce one, the competition comes from many service providers, many tour companies, to tour guides who also compete with each other.

The recruitment process will be when employees come to apply for jobs, employers will often ask about university degrees, available factors, skills The strict requirements for skills are there because you have to lead a group of people to visit other lands, busy work every day, wake up from and go home at 8 9 am Not to mention the holidays because of work but not at home with family.

Trang 8

fluency in English is a must This is probably necessary for most positions Besides, it's almost like learning from real experiences Eager to learn will be noticed by the leadership and create more opportunities.

5 Can you tell us more about the opportunities in your current job?

Are there a lot of promotion opportunities at your workplace?

Case 1: With the position of being the "Head of the Culinary Department" of the top hotel in

Da Nang, she always improves every day to always ensure the best for the job And Vinpearl Group always values capable people, so she always has a lot of opportunities for advancement

in the future Just keep working hard to improve yourself

Case 2: For Ms Bong, the opportunity to strive for many better positions in the company is very high, because she has just graduated from school and is still in the learning process, so there are still many levels to strive for Becoming a manager of a company division is also a long process, so I will try my best to pursue what I love.

Case 3: According to Andy, promotion opportunities are a bit scarce at the moment, because supply is more than demand, economic difficulties make many businesses limited The better the business environment, the more people come to work Competition comes from many service providers, many tour companies But what is worth mentioning is that in addition to being fierce, it also shows that Vietnam's tourism is still quite spontaneous, not yet a systematic and professional system There are many problems but Andy thinks that if you work hard, there will be no shortage of opportunities.

Case 4: The IHG Group, more specifically at the Intercontinental Hotel, is very interested in the promotion opportunities of its employees For example, when working here, if you want to learn a new skill or apply for a new position, the staff will write a letter called Personal Development Plan (PDP) From there, the manager will be willing to teach his employees all the things they need until they reach the position or master and understand the skills the employees need.

6.What do you think about the current remuneration and salary policy of the

company in particular and the tourism industry in general?

Case 1: With the position of manager, with a salary of 10-15 million, this is also the salary compared to the common ground in the top Da Nang In addition, the group's remuneration regime is also quite good, always cares about employees, supplementing many formal training courses But in particular, Vinpearl is also a 5-star hotel, so there are more conditions There are many hotels and travel companies on the common ground, but the salary and policy are a bit low compared to the effort and income brought by employees Hopefully, Vietnam will develop more and more to raise the industry's salary.

Case 2: Ms Bong does not directly share the salary and benefits of the travel company, but she knows that tourism has the potential to bring a good income for life She intends to be a sales villa or rent a villa for her own business, and then move into the F&B segment Both sides have

Trang 9

advantages of tourism in Vietnam, she can gradually increase people's income levels If promoted, the tourism industry will be the spearhead of the country's economy.

Case 3: Because of the competitive environment, many travel companies also have different salaries and benefits As Andy shared about his salary, most companies will pay tour guides 12 million/month For a job in Vietnam, this is the ideal salary, but compared to the international tourism industry in general, this is a slightly low salary compared to the effort and income potential of tourism So Andy also hopes that travel companies will gradually raise the level of remuneration policies for tourguides better, to be worthy of the staff's efforts, not only bringing customers joy and experiences but also useful knowledge in life The mental positives are huge, but the tourism profits are so much more.

Case 4: In the past, when I worked part-time, the salary at the hotel was quite low compared

to the amount of work and the requirements of the job But part of it is because I don't have much experience For now, there's nothing to complain about The development policies and salary of IHG for employees are quite good And like I said, besides the salary, I also learned a lot of things for myself

For the hotel service industry, both My Dung and Dang Khoa mentioned the requirements for each position, they have different points, but besides that, we can see the common points that both of them have are mentioned, that is Communication and Situation Handling Although both take on different roles, it can be seen that the role of communication with
