CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION
1.1 Background
Since the rising up of population rate influence on the public transportations in Ho Chi Minh city Particularly, the bus systems currently meet a large number of different type of problems With this potential issue our group decided to stimulate and adjust the waiting time between stations A simulation is an approximate imitation of the operation of a process or system that represents its operation over time It helps people to observe and analyze the system in the most general way to realize the system’s pros and cons, which are almost impossible to do in real life The operation of a bus route has contained various factors such as: facilities, traffics density, cost, capacity, destination, location…Nevertheless, there is a challenge to comprehend and optimize all these components By using simulation, providing a clear illustration for a bus system is a suitable probability which can combine all factors to evaluate a efficient result for the project
Our bus route has the code is 152 which was one of the most common bus route in
Ho Chi Minh city with the start point at Trung Son residential area and the end location is Tan Son Nhat international airport In addition, this route includes 39 stations along its journey The following is an overview of the Bus 152 timetable for the coming week: Starts at 5:30 a.m and concludes at 6:45 p.m This week's active days are everyday:
Route 152 (Trung Son residential neighborhood - Ben Thanh - Tan Son Nhat airport): 5,000 VND/way, 20 - 30 minutes apart, 5:15 to 19:00 Here is the time table of route 152:
Trang 5However, we decide to take 5 stations for this simulation which start form Him Lam bridge traffic roundabout and the ending station will be SAMCO Company By simulating these 5 stations, the clear illustration will be established and all components for minimize the waiting times

Trang 61.2 Objectives
The operation and organization of 152 bus route is considered as one of the model systems of public transportations Nevertheless, there still existed the problem about the waiting time In explanation, during rush hours, the number
of passengers taking this bus route is quite enormous Due to that overloading the waiting time of passengers between stations is also increased significantly
By using simulation, we will study the possible causes and come up with some possible changes
As similar as other bus routes in Ho Chi Minh city, 152 bus route always in condition of overloading Due to that situation, the waiting time for moving between stations also raising significantly By clarifying the cause of this problem, the solution will be expected to minimize the waiting time as much
as possible so that the bus route can get more efficiency, not only on the economic efficiency but also on the service quality
1.3 Scope and Limitations
Our simulation focuses on the passengers of 5 bus stations (from Him Lam bridge traffic roundabout The input is when passengers get on buses in the first station of this simulation (Him Lam bridge traffic roundabout station), the system elements are all the pick-up and drop-off activities during the journey through these 5 stations, and the output is when the passengers leave the last station of this process (SAMCO Company station) All these processes will be simulated by a tool called Arena:
In fact, the data will have some error compared to that of the normal time because of the disadvantages in collecting data Furthermore, the project cannot present all the characteristics, components of the 152-bus route due to lack of knowledge Obviously, there are several elements which unable to be illustrated by Arena such as: the capacity of buses, unexpected changes, etc In addition, the provided date which have been used is just a model and is still to small to compare with those in reality
Trang 7We are not using the paid edition of Arena, but merely the cracking version
As a result, there are worries regarding the accuracy and precision of some of the features we utilize, as well as information security issues
This project was created solely for scholarly interests, not for any other reasons Business, advertising as a result, the simulation does not exactly match the version that is realistic
CHAPTER 2: SYSTEMS DESCRIPTION
2.1 Conceptual design
To begin a simulation project, we must go through several phases, The first and most important step is to define the problem These goals are expressed through criteria evaluation, a system of individual and organizational needs Then we began developing research plans and manufacturing technical requirements based on real-world systems Next, we go to the real system to collect and categorize all the required information and data based on the simulation objectives Based on these assumptions, we can construct a conceptual model that replicates the fundamental nature of the real system Furthermore, we are concerned about the model's accuracy and validation As
a result, if there is an issue with the conceptualization model, we recreated the principal model using new data After completing the conceptual model, we proceeded to create a simulation model on the computer using simulation software In this phrase, we test whether the simulation model can meet the requirements of the real bus system If it does not, we must correct the model's validity and create a new database for the system Data with probability and statistics is provided by simulation software testing When the simulation model provides us with reliability criteria, we continue to classify the data and adjust based on the simulation targets All the data results are written down in
a report and saved as a document for later use Using these data, we can identify issues and recommend changes to improve the real-world supermarket system
Trang 8In summary, all steps of an iterative process can be divided into four major group phases The first phrase includes problem definition, goal setting, and overall design (steps 1–2) The second phrase entails model development and data collection (step 3 to 7) We settle the model processing in the third phrase (step 8 to 10) In the final phrase, we are in the final phase of implementation (step 11 to 12)
Trang 9This bus route is short in distance and is dependent on people arriving at the airport Therefore, Bus B40 is an excellent mode of transportation Each journey is separated by a 20-minute break It is enough long for waiting bus to get and arrive to places to go

Reducing waiting time
As similar as other bus routes in Ho Chi Minh city, 152 bus route always in condition of overloading Due to that situation, the waiting time for moving between stations also raising significantly By clarifying the cause of this problem, the solution will be expected to minimize the waiting time as much
as possible so that the bus route can get more efficiency, not only on the economic efficiency but also on the service quality
Optimize the capacity
According to the data that we have collected, the capacity for each bus just meets the average requirement However, in rush hours, the capacity cannot satisfy the enormous number of passengers who have the demand of moving through all these locations Therefore, the alternative solution must provide the available capacity by add more buses or organize the space inside buses to install more chairs Consequently, if the capacity is optimized, the waiting time and cost for operation will also be improved
Location of bus stations
In expectation of this project, the location of stations will be relocated for adapting to the traffic conditions Furthermore, all bus stations must be located
at the area where is citizen can reach conveniently Therefore, the picking up and dropping of passengers was simpler
By combining all given objectives, the first suitable route will be
operated based on the collected data In addition, the cost for optimizing and relocating was expected to be repaid from the interest
4 Stimulation
Our project will be illustrated and stimulated on a software: Arena stimulation
Trang 105 Conclusion
With clear objectives and the and the data, the alternative solution will be provided for optimizing the bus route In term of reducing waiting time, optimizing capacity and relocation bus stations, the solutions will be expected
to bring back the conveniences for passengers and also the interest for break even point
