1.4 Scope and Limitation:

1.4.1 Scope:

Our team’s product – the 3D model of Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is aesthetically pleasing It can be used as a home, office, or study desk decoration Our product is fitted with a pencil pot, which is useful to organize pens and other writing tools In the future, it will be more accessible and can be found in many supermarkets or bookstores

1.4.2: Limitations:

Our team’s product – the 3D model of Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is made of wood

As a result, it is fragile if the shipper was not careful when transporting It is also perishable if it is placed in a moist environment

It takes time to assemble It can be an intricate model kit for beginners

The material used to make a 3D model of Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is wood

Therefore, it is easy to be damaged if left in a humid place or with a lot of insects and easily broken if not handled with care

2.3 Operation Description

Step 1: Choose a design

- Refer to photographs of famous locations in Viet Nam

- Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum was suggested as a model:

This is a unique decoration Moreover, it is also a symbolic gift, commemorating the great president of Vietnamese country as a whole

Step 2: Survey of consumer demand

Create a survey form about “ The demand of Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum designed

by laser machine” using Google form for products

assembled models.

Trang 13

❖ Decorative elements

Most people desire to use the model set for something else (pen holder, decorative light,.) besides using it as a decoration

Trang 14

Based onthe pictures taken around the Ho Chi Minh mausoleum refer to the internet, simulate the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum with 3D images by SketchUp.

harmonious, similar to the ratio between the sides of the original Mausoleum.

15

Trang 16

According to the survey, people prefer wood to other materials

Learn about the different varieties of wood used for laser machines, including MDF and plywood

MDF:

MDF stands for medium density fiberboard MDF is ideal for both cutting and engraving because of its ability to create depth

❖ Advantages:

MDF is hard and affordable

The cut is clean and flawless, with a tendency to not warp

❖ Disadvantages:

It is sensitive to moisture

It is heavy and thick

Complicated to work with

As a result, MDF is more suitable for large designs Designs with a lot of minute details are more prone to breaking or cracking

Lots of debris when machining

→ Plywood is appropriate for marking and laser engraving because of its slight and smooth appearance By virtual of the light material, it is also used for assembly blueprints

Based on this assessment, we decided to choose Plywood to create our product Plywood is light and easy to cut minute details Therefore, it is suitable to use for assembled models.

into wooden boards.

5.1 Separate blocks to draw details under 2D images

17

Trang 18

5.2.1: Draw and cut puzzle pieces without joints by using Laser Cad

After separating the puzzle pieces on paper, sketch each detail on laser CAD

software The design in the laser CAD program is shown below:

18

Trang 19

After that, using a laser machine to cut the drawn details on 5 wooden boards with dimensions (length x width x thickness) 350x250x3 mm

With the layer parameters:

19

Trang 20

Results: the sizes of the puzzle pieces matched each other

❖ Errors:

Setting the laser power too high results in scorched woodcuts The cut piece

of wood is not beautiful

Need to adjust the power

The time to cut was too slow The total time is about 55 minutes

→ Find ways to optimize time

5.2.2: Based on the cut details, design joints for the puzzle piece

By manual measurement, divide the lengths of the pieces into equal intervals Thengive the right number of joints to each puzzle piece, making sure the pieces can stand firmly on the ground

After completing the joints, continue to erect the puzzle pieces on wooden boards

to locate the holes, make sure the joints are in place with the holes, and the details are firmly connected

20

Trang 21

Trial cutting with a laser machine:

❖ Error: The joints and holes are still out of place

The cut hole is larger than the drawing due to the cross-section of the laser

Direct test cutting on wood is quite expensive Because deciding the position of thehole to fit the joints is quite complicated It requires testing and adjustment many times However, the cost of wood is quite expensive

⇨ Switc

fume

Based on the errors that occurred in thefirst test, we adjusted the size of the hole and moved the position of the holes to fit the coupling

Continue to try cutting on Foamex and then testing

21

Trang 22

 There are still some flaws in the placement

of the edges of the puzzle:

Some holes are still not in the right position and have the wrong size

22

Trang 23

After making sure that the pieces could be joined together by the correct placement

of the holes and joints, we proceeded to cut directly on the large wooden board Its dimension (length x width x thickness) is 600x400x3 (mm)

Fixed the mistakes that happened in the previous cuts: lower the original power so that the wood is less scorched

23

Trang 24

Step 5: Add applications to the model.

Based on the survey, most consumers want more decorative details and

applications for the model So, we designed an extra pencil pot for the model with LED lights around it Thus, this is not only an entertaining toy, but then it is also used as a decoration and can hold pens on the desk or study table

24

Trang 25

- Step 1: Seperate each component from the frame and put it in the proper location.

- Step 2: Attach the details that make up the pen holder with candle glue

- Step 3: Decorate with led string lights

25

Trang 26
