Sometimes, in the middle of my research, there might be some problems on understanding what should be stated in small parts of the research. With my limited knowledge about writing research in passing time, I hope that my humble understanding can help you overcome the difficulties. I’ll try to explain what should be done in each part of the research. Certainly, u need a title of the research that should be short enough but MUST state what u r going to carry the research on. + It is the abstraction. I think it s just a brief summary of what u r going to do in the research. For example, u may write: “this research investigates…, studies… this research aims to… + INTRODUCTION - Reasons for choosing the topic: generally speaking, u must point out that there are problems needing researching. For example: in my research on “the view of nature in works by romanticism poets”, I state that “Romanticism is one of the most important approaches in English literature” but “there are few articles studying systematically the view of nature among romantic poets, which sometimes makes readers confused” and “It is necessary to understand the theme “Nature” in poetry in this period when studying English literature. The problem here is “there are few articles studying …. confused”. or someone may just write : because it help to do this or that… but I think is not very persuasive. - Aim The aim of the research refers to the purpose of ur research. - objectives : u should show what ur reseach s gonna deal with to find out the expected results. - the scope of research: State which works or literature periods, in what time u r going to do the research on - research question: u should include the questions ( 3-4) which ur study will answer to. EASY, RIGHT? + LITERATURE REVIEW: - Doing research on or a few works: In this part, you should state the historical background when the works u r studying is written, the trend it belongs to, why and how the works are born, the relationship between authors and works, u may also include the definition of the term in your research here. Returning to my research, I cited some definitions of researchers about romanticism (I spent a whole night to find the definition of nature in vain). (Generally, anything which help, relate or affect to the works) and especially u have to mention the previous studies on the topic u r researching. - Doing research on a trend : u should do as with certain works but should have some more: the themes in that trend, other contemporary trend. *Remember to include name of the researcher when u use his definition. *Don’t forget to include the name of the book, paper number (pp.45) if u want to use the text from that book +METHODOLOGY: (to say the truth, I hate this part) - data collection: it is where and how u find the materials. It is reliable or not. Of course, try to explain that it s very reliable. - Data analysis: state how u r going to analyze the materials found. + RESULT: (it s not expected result cos we r doing a research, not a proposal) the result varies in different topics. But there are some common points that u should notice: the Artistic description and realistic, satire, humane values …of the works. U should have general ideas and then support them. + DISCUSSION: in this part, u should state the problems found out in the process of carrying out ur research needing further researches. +CONCLUSION: + REFERENCE: Please, follow the link above to get it in detail. http://dieuduongviet.net/diendan/showthread.php?p=3788 . analyze the materials found. + RESULT: (it s not expected result cos we r doing a research, not a proposal) the result varies in different topics.
