purchased for agencies of the U.S Government it shall conform to the Suppiementary Requirements as defined in Specification B 248M when specified in the contract or purchase order Mechanical Properties of Cold-Worked and Hot-Rolled Tempers 8.1 The tension test shall be the standard test for all tempers of cold-rolled, hot-rolled, and hot-roled and annealed copper sheet, strip, plate, and rolled bar and acceptance or rejection shall depend only on the tensile properties, which shall conform to the requirements prescribed in 8.3 and Table 8.2 Test specimens shall be taken to conform, where applicable, to Section of Test Methods E Tension test specimens shall be taken so that the longitudinal axis of such specimens is parallel to the direction of rolling Test specimens from plate items may be taken at the manufacturer's option from the excess portion of the material after the final 4.1.8 How furnished (straight lengths or coils), 5, General Requirements 5.1 Material furnished under this specification shall conform to the applicable requirements of the current edition of Specification B 248M Note 4—Soft-anneal temper is suitable for most industrial users of copper such as forming, spinning, and simple drawing operations where is close control of temper is not essential Deep-drawing anneal temper especially suited for very severe drawing and forming operations where maximum ductility and close control of temper is required cut to size or from separate pieces produced under the same Chemical Composition 6.1 The materials shall conform to the compositions prescribed in Table 6.2 These specification limits not preclude the presence of other elements Limits for unnamed elements may be established by agreement between manufacturer or supplier and purchaser specification and temper 8.3 Hot-rolled plates of Copper UNS Nos C 11000, C 12200 and C 12500 shall have 40 % minimum elongation in 50 mm, and hot-rolled plates of Copper UNS No C 14200 shall have 45 % minimum elongation in 50 mm 7, Temper annealed copper sheet and strip, and acceptance or rejection 7.1 Rolled Material (H)—The standard tempers of coldrolled sheet strip, plate and rolled bar copper of all types are designated as follows (see Practice B 601): Temper Designation Standard H00 ` Former Eighth-hard H03 Quarter-hard Half-hard,4 Three-quarter-hard,~ H08 HI0 Spnng,4 and Extra-spring~ H01 H02 H04 HO06 Commonly Hard,4 Extra-hard supplied only as strip The manufacturer should be consulted where these tempers are desired as sheet, plate, or rolled bar 7,1,1 Special or nonstandard tempers are subject to nego- tiation between manufacturer and purchaser (see 4.1.3) 7.2 Hot-Rolled Temper (M20): 7.2.1 The temper of hot-rolled copper sheet and plate shall be that produced by hot rolling 7.2.1.1 Plate not specified for Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Applications is generally available in the M20 temper 7.3 Annealed Temper (O): 7.3.1 The temper of hot-rolled and annealed copper sheet and plate shall be that produced by hot rolling and subsequent annealing (O25) Grain Size Requirements of Cold-Rolled Annealed Tempers 9.1 Grain size shall be the standard test for cold-rolled shall depend only on the grain size The average grain size of each of two samples of annealed material, as determined on a plane parallel to the surface of the sheet or strip, shall be within the limits prescribed in Table 10 Rockwell Hardness 10.1 Rockwell hardness tests offer a quick and convenient method of checking copper of any temper for general conformity to the requirements for tensile strength of grain size The approximate Rockwell hardness values for each temper are given in Table or Table 3-for general informa- — tion and assistance in testing 11 Microscopical Examination 11.1 Samples of Copper-UNS Nos C 10100, C 10200, C 10300, C 10400, C 10500, C 10700, and C 12000 shall be free of cuprous oxide as determined by Procedure A of Test Methods B 577 In case of a dispute, a referee method in accordance with Procedure C shall be employed 11.2 When Copper UNS Nos C 10800, C 12200, or C 12300 are supplied, microscopical examination for cuprous oxide is not required 12 Embrittlement Test 12.1 Samples of Copper UNS Nos C 10100, C 10200, ( ( qh) B 152M ‘ M 138M SPECIFICATIONS FOR MATERIALS 144 ƯỰÄŠẮố €20°0 ~e000 Sto -p00 " _ '{%⁄, PEO00O0 Ot
