The Catcher in the Rye, by American writer J.D. Salinger is written in the first person narrative of main character Holden Caulfield. The novel revolves around the story of Holden Caulfield a 17yearold boy who has just been kicked out of college preparatory school for the fourth time due to his terrible academic performance. The intelligent and sensitive boy uses a bitter and sarcastic narrative to describe a society full of evil, despicable, and hypocritical faces that he cannot stand. Through the eyes of Holden Caulfield, American society appears on the dark side. It is a society lacking honesty. Society of hypocrisy and hypocrisy.
