Hiện nay nhiều trường top đầu trong đó có ĐH Ngoại Thương, ĐH Kinh tế Quốc Dân, Học viện Ngân Hàng… đã quyết định ưu tiên xét tuyển đối với các thí sinh có chứng chỉ IELTS. Cụ thể, từ năm 2018, đối với trường ĐHNgoại thương, những học sinh đã tốt nghiệp THPT có điểm tổng kết trung bình của 3 năm học từ 7.5 trở lên và có tổng điểm 2 môn thi thuộc tổ hợp môn xét tuyển của trường (không tính Ngoại ngữ) đạt từ 16 điểm trở lên khi nộp chứng chỉ IELTS 6.5 sẽ được ưu tiên xét tuyển vào hệ đại học chính quy giảng dạy bằng chương trình Tiếng Anh (Bao gồm chương trình tiên tiến, chương trình chất lượng cao, chương trình Kế toán – Kiểm toán ACCA, chương trình chuyên ngành Kinh Doanh Quốc Tế, chương trình chuyên ngành Logistic và Quản lý chuỗi cung ứng)
