uPVC, PPR, cast iron, ductile iron, galvanized/black steel pipe, fittings and accessories… are brought to the site and inspected by authorized person (BBI/JRP Engineer) 4.3 Sequence of work 4.3.1 Methodology a.) General: - Ensure that all pipes have correct diameter, approval of material prior to start works - All pipes smaller than Ø65mm will have screwed connections - All pipes and joints with Ø65mm and above shall be welded or mechanical coupling except at valves where flanged connections shall be used - Pipe shall be cut by power hacksaw, circular cutting machine with abrasive wheel, hand hacksaw Metallic wheel cutters shall not be permitted - Welded joint shall be used for branch connections from Ø25mm diameter to smaller than Ø65mm diameter with main pipes - During period work is not in progress, pipe, fitting shall be temporarily capped to prevent entry of foreign materials - All equipments and valve connections shall be fitted with union joints if pipe diameter smaller than Ø65mm and flange joints if pipe diameter over Ø65mm - Each piping system shall be thoroughly flushed until proven clean before connecting to plant or equipment For carbon steel pipe, water must be filled in pipe after finishing pipe leakage test or flushing in order to avoid the corrosion - Pipe work will follow the arrangement shown on the approved shop drawings b.) Testing Procedures The hydrostatic test shall be applied on all chilled water pipes and condenser pipes, fire protection pipes, plumping pipes The water filling test shall be applied on all A/C drainage pipes, sewage drainage pipe, fire hydrant drainage pipes, sprinkler drainage pipes The test medium shall be water The test pressure shall be 1.25 times of the system working pressure The holding time of the hydrostatic test should be to hours Visual inspection shall be carried on welded joints and connections (valves or flanges) Water filling test shall be done for floor by floor after pipe installation finished Finish pressure shall not show a drop of more than 5% in comparison with initial pressure at the end of test time Water level in pipe system for filling test shall not electric motor pump & manual hand pump Install 02 (two) water pressure gauge (range 0-15Kg/Cm2 ), one fixed at the high point and another one at low far point of pipe First fill water into the pipe to be tested, then used electric pump to increase the pressure inside the pipe to half the pressure required Use the manual hand pump to increase pressure to the final test pressure requirement A air change of water level to confirmed no leakage, record ambient temperature (if any) # Notes: - For internal piping where by distance shorter and pipe smaller in size, manual handle pump shall be used Testing Procedures - The inspection work for pipe system shall be execuated by visual inspection and measure during the installation - The method of testing shall be visual inspection and hydrostatic test - The procedure and checklist for inspection and testing shall be prepared and submited to Main Contractor (BBI) before working started - Inspection and testing shall be performed by REE and to Installation Work 7.0 Specific Safety Requirements & Precaution Measures: 7.1 General precautions: - All safety equipment, personal protective equipments (PPE) such as clothes, safety shoes, helmet, gloves, safety harness, safety glasses shall be provided before entry the site and regularly checked during construction - Tools and equipments as cutting machine, drilling machine, welding machine, rivet machine, hacksaw, grinder, wrench …shall be inspected by authorized person before carrying out to work - Scaffolding is erected by competent rigger, inspection by safety team and inspection tag must be displayed on scaffold to use - When using diamond cutter, workers must wear gloves, eyes goggle and face shield - Rough edges and burrs shall be removed from inside and outside surfaces - Inside edges shall be reamed smooth by reamer or sand paper - Pipes shall be cut using a mechanical cutter or a power tool using an abrasive wheel - Piping will be arranged in a proper manner for easy retrieval and to avoid obstruction to circulation 7.2 Requirement & Precaution for Welding work - Welding area must be covered by vinyl sheet to keep away water and dust - Welding machine must be checked carefully before using - Welding rod keeps in secure at not humid area - Grounding wire for the electric arc process must be provided and wet cloths, protective glasses and long sleeve cloth must be imposed to worker - Fire extinguisher shall be provided by M&E contractor at the welding area and safety check-provision of the fire extinguisher must be done - Welding bead must be cleaned with manual grind equipment or chipping hammer or scratch brush - Use welding rod and butt weld around the pipe until full penetration is achieved - Welding shall not be done when the quality of the completed weld would be impaired by the prevailing weather conditions - Wind breakers and tents shall be provided for the welding work when bad weather - The welding surface can not be touched after the reaction - Paint welded face and adjacent area with approved anti rust paint - After welding, all welded areas shall be cleaned by wire brush and grinder - Visual inspection shall be carried out Plan 9.0 Repair / Remedial methods: - All piping, fittings, accessories…will be repaired and replaced or reinstalled if it is not correct size, diameter, thickness, position, level…per approved shop drawing - If leakage found at welded joints and connections, pipes joints shall be repaired and hydrostatic test will be conducted again - Check the bevel in accordance with pipe thickness If bevel is not correct, it shall be revised by grinder - Any imperfections which exceeding acceptance criteria under welding specifications, detected visually or by hydrostatic test shall be remade - Any unacceptable welding defects such as slag inclusion, porosity, lack of side wall fusion, etc shall be removed by means of grinding and chipping - The repair of welding defects shall be accomplished in a planned coordinated manner and shall be executed according tot the welding procedure to deposit the original weld - Visual inspection shall be done to ensure that weld joints are free from cracks, inadequate penetration, burn-through and other defects and must present a neat workmanlike appearance Ú Repair method for PP-R pipe - Damaged pipes may be repaired by mean of fusion - In addition to
