Are all students aware of the role and importance of improving learning English efficiency to meet the requirements of the 4th Science and Technology Revolution? Has the school done well in creating a positive environment for students to study English well? These are practical issues that need to be studied Stemming from the above reasons, I chose the topic "Improving the effectiveness of English self-study for students at Le Van Huu High School, Thanh Hoa province today" as my graduation thesis Aims of the study - On the basis of theoretical research and survey and assessment of the current situation in English self-study of students at Le Van Huu High School, proposing solutions to improve the efficiency of English self-study for students of Le Van Huu High School, contributing to improving the school's training - Systematize theoretical problems of English self-study of students at Le Van Huu High School - Survey on English self-studystatus of students at Le Van Huu High School - Proposing measures to improve the efficiency of English self-study for students at Le Van Huu High School Research question - What is systermatize theoretical problems of English self-study of students at Le Van Huu high School? - How are the survey results of English self-study at Le Van Huu high school? - What are the methods to improve the effectivecy of English self-study for students at Le Van Huu high school? Scope of the study - The topic focuses on studying the effectiveness of English self-study for 100 students from 10-12th grade at Le Van Huu High School - Surveying and using data from the 2019-2020 school year up to now Methods of the study The topic is studied on the basis of the methodology of Marxism - Leninism and Ho Chi Minh's thought; views of the Party, State and the Ministry of Education and Training on teaching and learning The thematic research process uses synchronously the following specific research methods: Synthetic and theoretical analysis methods; comparative method; methods of analysis and summarizing experience; Statistical methods; professional solution; In-depth interviews… 53 classroom with necessary equipment for teaching and learning English in class, and at the same time building and ensuring specialized classrooms use, practice for learning English with high quality and efficiency Building a multimedia English classroom; building English exam rooms to meet regulatory requirements… - Exploiting and effectively using CSVC for learning English In fact, the exploitation and use of CSVC for learning English has not been highly effective, mainly focusing on learning English in class Therefore, in the future, it is necessary to carry out the following tasks: Arrange the arrangement of classrooms in a flexible way so that the classes that need them for English learning activities, club activities, and English learning activities out of hours borrowed and used; Technical means of teaching and learning English need to be exploited and used more effectively in service of students' English learning activities Second, ensure documents and technical means for English teaching and self-studing activities - Update and increase the number of English textbooks and reference books English textbooks are the most basic materials that students have to access and study when learning the subject, so it is necessary to ensure the quantity and quality It is necessary to compile an English learning textbook according to the standards of the Ministry of Education and Training Building and setting up the school's intranet system, step by step coding and uploading necessary English documents for students to easily find and read on that intranet - Increase books, CDs, applications, self-study software and reference materials to serve the needs of learning English to meet the education and training requirements of the school as well as to serve the needs of exploitation , using teacher's teaching materials The English team attracts English experts and relevant units to compile and translate reference books for the English learning program; collect all kinds of 54 references from other schools and other countries concerned; duplicate books, articles, articles and scientific works related to learning English to ensure the quantity for students to research and read - Invest in upgrading technical facilities (amplifier, microphone, computer ) These are very important auxiliary technical means that contribute to improving the quality of English about teaching and learning activities It is necessary to fully invest in quantity and improve the quality of facilities for English learning, especially in speech contests, research and English learning clubs, etc., which should be fully equipped All necessary facilities such as amplifier, microphone, computer, bell In fact, the speaker and sound system in some halls and classrooms of the school has been degraded, not enough microphones and connected devices… Directly affecting the listening, discussion and presentation sessions Therefore, in the coming time, the school needs to pay attention to upgrading the technical facilities in some halls and classrooms to better serve regular English classes as well as the need for self-study and self-study after-hours research, club activities, extra-curricular activities of students Third, application of science and technology for learning English as well as English learning management of students The application of science and technology for learning English as well as English learning management is reflected in the equipping of modern facilities and equipment or researching and inventing means and tools for this activity Fourth, ensure English learning time for students A very important condition for students to be able to well in their English self-studing activities as planned is time If the English self-studying plan is built thoughtfully and perfectly, but there is not enough time to implement it, the plan will also go bankrupt To so, the following measures should be taken: - Develop English curriculum to increase self-study time 55 The content of the English subject program must also be developed in accordance with the increase of self-study time for students such as reducing the time to study theory, increasing the time to solve exercises, and the time to practice the skills of students tests such as listening, reading and writing; strengthen the assignment of seminar topics, discuss, assign problems for students to work in groups related to the Tasks of the test In general, when solving those requirements in the subject program of the teacher, it is also required that students be arranged and arranged a reasonable self-study time fund - Avoid requisitioning students for unplanned work In order to ensure the time for students' English learning activities , it is necessary to arrange the time in a scientific and reasonable manner for each array of activities, avoiding duplication, causing disturbance, distraction and influence to students' English learning; when there is a plan for the use of time for each activity, it is necessary to thoroughly implement the plan seriously and thoroughly, except for unexpected and urgent cases; Priority must be given to students' English self-studying activities In order for measures to ensure the conditions for learning English are well implemented, it is necessary to: - Regularly check CSVC and equipment of the school - Have a plan for regular maintenance and repair of equipment such as air conditioners, computers, audio speakers, etc - Regularly update English learning materials, programs, software and tapes - There are plans and funds to purchase such materials for the school library - Pay attention to the arrangement and arrangement of English learning programs, time of final exams, university for students - Good at managing students 56 Sub-conclusion of chapter In order to improve the effectiveness of English teaching activities for students of Le Van Huu high school, through studying basic cognitive issues and surveying the current state of this activity, four groups of basic measures have been proposed: The first group: Create self-study motivation The second group: Methods for English self-study The third group: Design test for English self-study The fourth group: Supply facilities for English self-study 57 CONCLUSION Studying the thesis "Improving the effectiveness of English self-study for students at Le Van Huu High School, Thanh Hoa province today", the author draws the following conclusions: 1.1 For learning English, a subject that requires training in many skills with a wide and complex amount of knowledge, requires each student to practice self-discipline in learning, improve study skills practice 1.2 The process of English self-study for students at Le Van Huu High School is necessary to organize their learning seriously, scientifically and effectively 1.3 Recently, the English self-study of students at Le Van Huu High School has been focused on certain areas Through the survey and assessment of the actual situation, I received a positive reflection on the students' correct awareness and seriousness and desire for this activity However, besides the achieved results, the English self-study of students at Le Van Huu High School still has some limitations and shortcomings Students' initiative in the learning process is not high, students' skills and methods of English self-study are still weak and lacking That requires practical measures to improve the effectiveness of their work Learning English contributes to improving the efficiency and quality of education and training of the school 1.4 Through studying basic cognitive issues and surveying the current situation of English self-study of students at Le Van Huu High School, the author has proposed four groups of basic measures such as: Raising awareness of the role and the importance of learning English in order to create the right motivation and attitude for students;
