The hole walls remain bright during scouring or tumbling If the wall is required to be grooved or otherwise roughened, this shall be the subject of a particular agreement between supplier and customer Testing The manufacturer shall carry out the tests as part of internal quality control Certificates according to EN 10204 are issued, if agreed between supplier and customer In mass production, as is the case with slugs, defective products are unavoidable If necessary the percentage of defective slugs shall be agreed between supplier and customer If certificates as specified in EN 10204 are to be issued, the type of certificate and the scope of test shall be agreed at the time of ordering Generally, the manufacturer confirms in these certificates the results of the tests with regard to chemical composition and hardness 6.1 Chemical composition Packaging and marking 5.4.5 Macrostructure A uniform grain size is required to a degree which does not negatively affect the production at the customer Quality limits and measuring methods for particular requirements with regard to the grain size shall be agreed between supplier and customer The method of analysis is at the manufacturer’s discretion In cases of doubt, the analysis shall be carried out by an independent laboratory using test methods agreed between manufacturer and customer 6.2 Brinell hardness Tests shall be carried out in accordance with ISO 6506 6.3 Surface quality The surface quality including that of the cut faces and the hole walls shall be assessed by visual examination without using any mechanical or optical aids, taking 5.4.1 to 5.4.3 into account The type of packaging, which depends on the susceptibility of the slug surface to damage and the intended application, is at the manufacturer’s discretion The marking of the packages and whether packaged units are to have a uniform mass is to be agreed between supplier and customer Arbitration In cases of dispute concerning conformity with the requirements of this European Standard or specification cited on the order, before rejecting the products, testing and examination shall be carried out by an arbitrator chosen by mutual agreement between supplier and customer The arbitrator’s decision shall be final © BSI 08-1999 BS EN 570:1995 List of references See national foreword © BSI 08-1999 BS EN 570:1995 BSI — British
