Configuration and View; thus helping you to conveniently view the test process 100 www.huawei.com 100 Huawei confidential, 2010-05 Precautions for Test Through the GENEX Probe If the test and analysis are improperly conducted through the GENEX Probe or GENEX Assistant, error signaling may be generated during the recording of test data The error signaling affects the efficiency of subsequent analyses, or even results in event or KPI statistical exceptions Therefore, correct test operations prevent multiple potential problems 101 www.huawei.com 101 Huawei confidential, 2010-05 Precautions for Test Through the GENEX Probe Before test: • Before conducting a test, ensure that the test UEs, SIM cards, GPS, and computer are all in a normal state For an important test, check all the test devices on the previous day and ensure that the devices are intact and that the account balance can meet the test requirements • Specify the test objective and test area, plan the test track, and update the BTS information to improve the test efficiency • The version of the GENEX Probe must be the latest If you are not sure whether the version is the latest, contact the project leader • Ensure that test UEs Call waiting service is not available, you can choose UE Setting > Call settings > Call waiting>Off • When connecting the devices during the test, ensure that the devices are properly placed Check the computer and the test terminals to ensure that they are properly connected Moreover, ensure that the connection cables are naturally curved and that the signals received by each UE are not blocked by your body or other objects 102 www.huawei.com 102 Huawei confidential, 2010-05 Precautions for Test Through the GENEX Probe Before test: • After connecting the GPS, place it in the front of a car or around the rear windshield of the car so that the signals of the GPS are not blocked • After starting the test, connect the UEs one by one and ensure that each UE performs the corresponding test task configured in the test plan For certain service tests, the SIM card needs to support other functions, for example, GPRS • Open the GUIs for observation during the test Do not open excessive GUIs, because some GUIs occupy many system resources If you open excessive GUIs, the refreshing hysteresis of a GUI may occur during the test It is suggested that you open the common GUIs for observation to ensure that the test can be normally conducted and that you can know the general details of the test Unless required, not open the GUIs that are used for replay and analysis • When the test plan is performed for the first time after the test is started, check the test task performed by each UE and ensure that the test tasks are the same as those in the test plan and that each UE can perform the test task normally 103 www.huawei.com 103 Huawei confidential, 2010-05 Precautions for Test Through the GENEX Probe During test: • Monitor and observer the test at any time When an exception occurs in the software, for example, the system prompts that a device is disconnected, check whether the device can be automatically connected If the device cannot be automatically connected within 10 seconds, it is suggested that you stop the test and reconnect the device Then, find and record the causes • Save the test files The names of the test files must be normative By default, the test files are named after the test start time If the names of the test files contain more information, the subsequent data analysis and archiving becomes easy For example, the following name can be used: GENEX_PROBE 20092315405Cluster2.gen • If you want to stop the test for a long time, stop the corresponding test task and disable the connection • When a test file is automatically divided, the size of each sub-file cannot be excessively small (such as MB or 10 MB) because excessively small size results in that 20 to 30 sub-files are generated in each cluster Thus, searching for the test data during data analysis becomes difficult, which increases the workload of data analysis engineers 104 www.huawei.com 104 Huawei confidential, 2010-05 Precautions for Test Through the GENEX Probe During test: • • • • If exceptions occur continuously, such as poor coverage around the BTS, continuous call drops, handover failures, and unavailable call setup, record the exceptions and observe the radio environment After the test is complete, submit the records and test data to data analysis engineers The records and test data can help the engineers to improve the analysis efficiency When the test ends, stop the test plan by hand first and then disable the connection In this way, the integrity of the test data can be ensured Although the GENEX Probe or GENEX Assistant provides several mechanisms for handling signaling exceptions, not all the signaling exceptions can be identified by the GENEX Probe or GENEX Assistant because the data analysis performed by the GENEX Probe or GENEX Assistant totally depends on the signaling messages reported by the UEs Such a problem can be avoided if the test operations can be standardized In addition, standardized operations can reduce problems and improve the accuracy of data analysis Do not save the test files in the same disk as the operating system In this way, the test file can be obtained even though the computer is faulty If you leave for a long time during the test, stop the test and disable the connection In addition, take import things with you 105 www.huawei.com 105 Huawei confidential, 2010-05 Precautions for Test Through the GENEX Probe After test: • After the test, collect all the test devices • After the test, copy all the test files to the related owner for archiving Ensure that the test files are complete In addition, not delete the test files from the computer The test files should be saved on the computer for more than two weeks so that the test files can be obtained after the copied files become abnormal 106 www.huawei.com 106 Huawei confidential, 2010-05 107 www.huawei.com 107 Huawei confidential, 2007-10
