Becoming a teacher demands not only knowledge in an academic field but also a personal commitment to lifelong learning, and enthusiasm for sharing knowledge with other people To become one of those noble educators in the USA, one has to satisfy several basic requirements

First and foremost, it is a prerequisite to have bachelor's degree in education In the event that a candidate already has a bachelor's degree in another field, a teacher preparation program is needed But that is not all Almost every school in the USA understands that real classroom teaching experience is a

experience and even if they are accepted, they are usually ill-paid One wise solution to the issue is for

future postgraduates to start working as teachers before going on to gain their master's degree

Besides knowledge and experience, certain personal qualities are also required A teacher should be positive, prepared, focused, and most importantly, patient Being a teacher involves being aware of the fact that learning sometimes be hard work, even for the most motivated students Also, teaching can at times be tiring and frustrating, so teaching candidates have to practise being patient with themselves

In short, as in other careers, teaching requires a combination of qualifications, experience, and personal qualities Teaching candidates meeting mandatory requirements are always in demand in the USA

Attracting users to social networking sites and cloud computing sites is all about building trust However,

if recent news is anything to go by, consumers would be right to consider that the trust they have put into

the Internet companies that run these services has been betrayed

Between 2006 and the beginning of 2010, search engine giant Google started a project to map and digitally

photograph every road in every major city in more than 30 countries for its product Google Streetview

But images, it appears, is not all that the Streetview cars collected It now turns out that Google collected over 600 Gigabytes of data from users of public and unprotected Wi-Fi access routers - which included Web pages visited and emails All this was collected without the prior knowledge or permission of the router owners

But most criticism surrounding data privacy is currently reserved for Facebook, which has faced an

extreme anger from consumers when millions of users suddenly found their private details exposed and

searchable on Google, Bing and Yahoo Facebook, whose privacy policies have come under attack both at home and abroad, now faces a stiff fine for storing non-users’ personal data without their permission Founder Mark Zuckerberg appears to be relenting and is now beefing up security

The issue came to the fore in recent months among concern that Facebook’s confusing privacy settings were making it possible for Internet stalkers, cyber criminals and even nosy neighbours to gain a wealth of information about its users without their knowledge or permission

What all these companies deal in is trust Without trust, we would not allow them access to our private information Therefore, it’s important that they maintain our trust If social networking becomes increasingly important to companies such as Google, Apple and Microsoft, they will have to be careful not

to violate their users’ trust in the future

(Adapted from https://eandt.theiet.org/content/articles/2010/07/who-owns-your-personal-data/ )

A Customers’ reaction to Google Streetview B Data privacy concerns and customers’ trust

C Measures to protect customers’ data D Big companies suffering from data leak

Question 45: According to paragraph 3, as millions of users found their private details were leaked, they

A attacked Facebook’s privacy policies B refused to use Facebook

C criticized Facebook’s data privacy settings D fined Facebook for storing their data

Question 46: The word major in paragraph 2 is closest in meaning to _

Question 47: The word they in paragraph 1 refers to _

Question 48: The word exposed in paragraph 3 is closest in meaning to _

Question 49: Which of the following is NOT true according to the passage?

A Mark Zuckerberg seems not to take any measure to tighten Facebook’s security

B Facebook’s confusing privacy settings made it easy to leak their customers’ data

C Google collected data from users of public without their permission

D Google collected not only images of roads but also data of webpages visited and emails

Question 50: Which of the following can be inferred from the passage?

A Customers are contented with the sevices from online companies

Read the following passage and mark the letter A, B, C, or D on your answer sheet to indicate the correct answer to each of the questions

In “How many hours does it take to make a friend?” (2018), Jeffrey A Hall describes the types of encounters that build a friendship

His study found that hours of time spent together was linked with closer friendships, as was time

spent enjoying leisure activities together Specifically, he found that the chance of making a “casual

friend,” as opposed to a mere acquaintance, was greater than 50 percent when people spent

Trang 18

Trang 3/5- Mã đề thi 407

approximately 43 hours together within three weeks of meeting He further found that casual friends evolve into friends at some point between 57 hours after three weeks, and 164 hours over three months Hall's research also demonstrated, however, that when it comes to time spent developing friendships, quality is more important than quantity And when it comes to conversation, topics matter When it comes to building quality relationships, the duration of conversation is not as important as the content Meaningful conversation is the key to bonding with others

Hall found that when it comes to developing friendships, sharing daily life through catching up

and joking around promotes closeness; small talk does not Consider the inane topics that often come

up when you are trapped in an elevator with an acquaintance Discussing the weather or speculating on how many stops you will make before finally reaching the lobby does not facilitate bonding Nor does mere proximity Hall found that obligatory time spent together, such as in a classroom or workplace, does not promote closeness Friendships require an efficient use of time together Someone who remembers the details of your life and asks questions about your family, your job, your latest vacation, etc., is much more likely on his or her way to becoming someone you consider a friend, as opposed to

an acquaintance

The quality of the product will encourage this, of course, but so, too, will affect advertising

Advertising relies on the techniques of market research to identify potential users of a product Are they homemakers or professional people? Are they young or old? Are they city dwellers or country dwellers? Such questions have a bearing on where and when ads should be played By studying readership breakdowns for newspapers and magazines as well as television ratings and other statistics, an advertising agency can decide on the best way of reaching potential buyers Detailed research and marketing expertise are essential today when advertising budgets can run into thousands of millions of dollars

Advertising is a fast-paced, high-pressure industry There is a constant need for creative ideas that will establish a personality for a product in the public’s mind Current developments in advertising increase the need for talented workers

of consumers and to help them see products in a new light The use of computer graphics in a commercial

for canned goods, for instance, gave a new image to the tin can

Read the following passage and blacken the letter A, B, C, or D on your answer sheet to indicate the correct answer to the following questions

Of all modern instruments, the violin is apparently one of the simplest It consists in essence of a hollow, varnished wooden sound box, or resonator, and a long neck covered with a fingerboard, along which four strings are stretched at high tension The beauty of design, shape, and decoration is no accident The proportions of the instrument are determined almost entirely by acoustical considerations Its simplicity of appearance is deceptive About 70 parts are involved in the construction of a violin Its tone and its outstanding range of expressiveness make it an ideal solo instrument No less important, however, is its role as an orchestral and chamber instrument In combination with the larger and deeper- sounding members of the same family, the violins form the nucleus of the modern symphony orchestra The violin has been in existence since about 1550 Its importance as an instrument in its own right dates

from the early 1600’s, when it first became standard in Italian opera orchestras Its stature as an

orchestral instrument was raised further when in 1626 Louis XIII of France established at his court the

orchestra known as Les vinq-quatre violons du Roy (The King’s 24 Violins), which was to become

widely famous later in the century

In its early history, the violin had a dull and rather quiet tone resulting from the fact that the strings were think and were attached to the body of the instrument very loosely During the eighteenth and

nineteenth century, exciting technical changes were inspired by such composer-violinists as Vivaldi and

Tartini Their instrumental compositions demanded a fuller, clearer, and more brilliant tone that was

produced by using thinner strings and a far higher string tension Small changes had to be made to the

violin’s internal structure and to the fingerboard so that they could withstand the extra strain Accordingly,

a higher standard of performance was achieved, in terms of both facility and interpretation Left-hand technique was considerably elaborated, and new fingering patterns on the fingerboard were developed for very high notes

Câu 44: All of the following are mentioned in the passage as contributing to the ability to play modern violin music EXCEPT _

It is natural for young people to be critical of their parents at times and to (26) them for most of the misunderstandings between them They have always complained, more or less justly, that their parents are old-fashioned, possessive and dominant; that they do not trust their children to deal with obstacles; (27) _ they talk too much about certain problems and that they have no sense of humor, at least in parent-child relationships I think it is true that parents often (28) _ their teenage children and also forget how they themselves felt when young

Young people often irritate their parents with their choices in clothes and hairstyles, in entertainers and music This is not their motive They feel cut off from the adult world into which they have not yet been accepted (29) _, they create a culture and society of their own Then, if it turns out that their music or entertainers or vocabulary or clothes or hairstyles irritate their parents, this gives them additional enjoyment They feel they are superior, at least in a small way, and that they are leaders in style and taste

If you plan to control your life, co-operation can be part of that plan You can charm others, especially parents, into doing things the ways you want You can impress (30) with your sense of responsibility and initiative, so that they will give you the authority to do what you want to do

Robot teachers

If you think of the jobs robots could never do, you would probably put doctors and teachers at the top of the list It’s easy to imagine robot cleaners and factory workers, but some jobs need human connection and creativity But are we underestimating what robots can do? In some cases, they already perform better than

doctors at diagnosing illness Also, some patients might feel more comfortable sharing personal information

with a machine than a person Could there be a place for robots in education after all?

British education expert Anthony Seldon thinks so And he even has a date for the robot takeover of the classroom: 2027 He predicts robots will do the main job of transferring information and teachers will be like

assistants Intelligent robots will read students’ faces, movements and maybe even brain signals Then they will

adapt the information to each student It’s not a popular opinion and it’s unlikely robots will ever have empathy and the ability to really connect with humans like another human can

One thing is certain, though A robot teacher is better than no teacher at all In some parts of the world, there aren’t enough teachers and 9–16 per cent of children under the age of 14 don’t go to school That problem could be partly solved by robots because they can teach anywhere and won’t get stressed, or tired, or move somewhere for an easier, higher-paid job

Those negative aspects of teaching are something everyone agrees on Teachers all over the world are leaving because it is a difficult job and they feel overworked Perhaps the question is not ‘Will robots replace teachers?’ but ‘How can robots help teachers?’ If robots could cut the time teachers spend marking homework and writing reports, teachers would have more time and energy for the parts of the job humans do best

Nepal has made important progress over the past few years to promote equality, but the country still has one of the highest rates of child marriage in the world 41% of Nepalese girls are married before the age of 18

The law states that punishment for child marriage is imprisonment for up to three years and a fine of up to

10,000 rupees (£102) But reports suggest that this law is rarely applied There has been quite a lot of progress
