RECOMMENDATIONS

Yarn and yardage
Lace / 2 ply yarn
Needles
circular needles US 6 (4 mm)
40 100 cm) or longer

crochet hook 4 mm

NOTES
The shawl is knitted from top centre.
Four increases on RS create a triangular shape;
Increases on each side of central st and next to edge sts
ARE shown on charts.
The charts show only RS rows;
2 edge sts on either side are kept in garter st throughout the pattern.
The 2 edge sts and center stitch are NOT charted but worked on every row.
The pattern repeats are shown in frames.
DIRECTIONS
Garter tab:
With crochet hook and scrap yarn, ch 4 stitches. Take the working yarn
and pick up and knit 2 sts into back loops of 2 centre chains.
Knit 7 rows. Turn the work 90 degrees and pick up 1 stitch in each of
three garter ridges.
Turn the work 90 degrees again. Carefully unravel the crochet chain
and pick up and knit the two live stitches (7 sts).
Knit 1 row.
Shawl:
Row 1: k 2, work Row 1 of Set-Up Chart, k 1 for center st,
work Row 1 of Set-Up Chart, k 2
Row 2: k 2, p to last 2 sts, k 2
Note: Optionally you may work the entire shawl in garter st.
In this case k all sts in even rows.
Cont as set, ending with Row 14.
Cont working from Frost Lace Chart. Work Rows 1-12 once, and then
rep 5 times more.
Work Rows 1-28 of Fur Trees Chart once.
Work Rows 1-50 of Snowflakes Chart once.
Do not BO. CO for the edging immediately.
To attach the edging ssk the last st of it with the next st of the body on
RS rows.
Note: the sts to be attached to the shawl body are separated with a red
line on chart for your convenience.
Work the edging as follows:
With WS of the body facing CO 12 sts. Knit 1 row, working the last st
together with the next st of the body. Turn work, knit 1 row.
Cont working from Edging Border Chart, until all body sts are worked.
On the last WS row knit all sts. BO knitwise from RS.
Finishing
Soak the shawl in lukewarm water with some detergent, rinse. Wrap
the shawl in a towel to squeeze out the excess water.
Pin in place and block to shape. Weave in all loose ends
