Tiếng Anh i-Learn Smart Start Week: Date of teaching: Period: REVIEW I Objectives: After completing this lesson, students will be able to: Language competence Review the related vocabulary items and structures to about their abilities, simple instructions, and days of the week Core competence - Build up interests and good habits in learning English - Build up responsive and independent-working characteristics to be a long-life learner - Be supportive and collaborative in team work - Demonstrate problem-solving and communicative skills through learning activities Personal qualities - Build up respective attitudes to others in the community - Build up spirits of the responsibility for family and the community II Teaching aids: Teacher’s aids: student book and teacher’s book, class CDs, flashcards, IWB software, projector/interactive whiteboard/TV Students’ aids: Student books, notebooks, workbooks 1|Page III Procedures: Time 5’ Steps/Activities Warm-up  “Alphabet Soup” game Organization Teacher – whole class/ groupwork  Place plastic letters in a bowl  Divide flashcards by their beginning letters and put them next to the bowl  Divide the class into two groups Have one student from each group go to the board One student picks up a letter from a bowl and write it on the board, the other student finds the flashcards associated with that letter Option 1:  "Bingo" game Teacher – Whole class/ groupwork  Divide the class into groups of five  Write some words on the board  Have students choose nine words on the board and write them down on their piece of paper  One student read the words aloud  Tell the students that any time his/her friend reads a word that they have written down, they can cross out that word  When one student has crossed out three words in a vertical or horizontal or diagonal line, then, shouts "Bingo!" Option 2: “Card recall” game 2|Page  Teacher – Whole class/ pair work  Give each student five letter cards and have them work in pairs  Student of each pair shows his/ her friend the cards and counts to ten then places them face down on the desk  Student has to recall what the five letters and the words that begin with those letters are Swap roles 25’ New lesson A Listen and draw lines (CD2 - Track 65)   Have students look at the pictures and call out the Teacher – Whole class/ individuals people, places, and objects they can see  Play audio and demonstrate the activity using the example  Play audio Have students listen and draw lines  Play audio again and check answers as a whole class B Play "Stepping stones."   Divide the class into pairs Teacher – Whole class/ pair work  Have Student A start at A and say the first sentence  Have Student B start at B and say the first sentence  Have students take turns saying the sentences as they go all the way around "Do as I say, not as I do" game  3|Page Divide the class into groups  Teacher – Whole class/ groupwork  Tell students they must only follow the commands, not the actions of the teacher  Demonstrate the game by giving the students different commands  If the action and what the teacher says don’t match, students don’t copy the action, but what the teacher says instead  Give points to the first teams who the correct actions Workbook page 66  Have students open their workbooks – page 66 A Read and draw  Set up time limit by minutes timer bomb (source: https://www.youtube.com/watch? v=NpyCI345WMM)  Have students read the words, then draw shapes  Check understanding and give the correct answers as a whole class B Listen and number (WB 38)  Have students identify the pictures of part B  Guide them how to the text  Play audio Have students listen and write the number in each box  Play audio again Have students listen and check  Check understanding and correct mistake as a whole class 4|Page  Teacher – Whole class/ individuals C Draw lines  Have students look at the pictures, read the commands then match Check students’ answers as a whole class Wrap up Option 1:  5’  “Throw the dice” game Teacher – Whole class/ groupwork  The teacher prepares dice with the numbers –  Number the actions like the list below: Pick up a pencil Count numbers Spell words Sing songs Draw pictures Ask your friend “Where are you from?”  Divide the class into pairs and give each pair a die  Student throws the dice and reads out a number  Student tries to the action Swap roles and continue the game in the same way Option 2: “Speak Button Game” game  Divide the class into four groups  Invite one student from each group to come to the board 5|Page  Teacher – Whole class/ groupwork  Explain that the four students are going to race to answer  Draw a circle on the board and write the words 'Speak Button' inside the circle  The teacher shows up a flashcard  The students run to the board and race to touch the speak button The first student who touches the button guesses what the flashcard is  If he/she guesses correctly, he/she get one point for his/her team  Continue in the same way 6|Page ... three words in a vertical or horizontal or diagonal line, then, shouts "Bingo!"
