Many companies today sponsor sports as a way of advertising themselves Some people think that is a good thing for the world of sport Others think this has disadvantages Discuss both these views and give your own opinion In this competitive world, some people think that sponsoring sports is the best marketing tool for countries whilst others disagree and think it is a bad practice I agree with the former one, and in this essay I will discuss both points of view It is clear that sports have provided the best means of marketing than ever before One of the benefits is that it helps in boosting the friendly relationship among countries For example, every year, India conducts friendly sports events with other countries in order to make their friendship bond more strongly Exchanging cultural values can also be considered as a benefit For instance, whenever any sports team comes to India, they, apart from playing sports, also visit various tourist places; as a result, they carry Indian culture back to their country On the other hand, some people make the opposing case They argue that by organizing the sports events, the country is just wasting the tax payers’ money which can be utilized in better ways To exemplify, in India, instead of spending too much money on sports, the government should use it to provide basic needs like food and education to the needy ones They further argue that sports players nowadays have been involved in illegal activities, because of which sports are not the true medium for promotion For instance, recently many cricket players have been facing legal charges for taking bribes from gamblers In my opinion, both arguments have their merits On balance, however, I tend to believe that with a view to enhancing their friendly relations and to interchange cultural values, countries should finance sports to publicize themselves Some people feel that young people should follow the traditions of their society Others, however, believe that young people should be free to behave as individuals Discuss both these views and give your own opinion Nowadays, there is a strong debate on whether youth should follow their nation’s culture However, others refute this and believe they should have right to make their own choice These two points of view will discuss before a reasoned conclusion is drawn On one hand, the majority of nations around the world have their own culture Traditions bring a numerous benefits to human lives Firstly, hardworking and respect to elderly are two main aspect of it that cause a lot of economic developments Secondly, although, many concepts such as altruism are changed during the time, traditions help youngster to be familiar with original concepts of them Last but not least, elimination traditions from human lives cause young generation loss their connection with their ancestors Therefore, traditions could help young people to build their lives more efficiency On the other hand, globalization is new term that causes our world become closer Today, because of this phenomenon people are able to select different parts of every culture and implement them For example, one part of Japan’ tradition is respect to their job and this behavior is taken by many people around the world even it is known for a best strategy in workplaces In addition to this, some parts of traditions are totally wrong and they are caused a lot of problems for people For instance, in some part of world, a widow is entombed with her dead husband just because of her traditions Thus, in many circumstances it is wise decision that youth have this right to make their own choice even their decisions are against traditions To sum up, after analyzing this point of view, it is believed that it should be better to swim against the current to have a better live Blind imitation from traditions is not acceptable any more It is the time that young people make their own traditions by making new decisions It is important for all towns and cities to have large outdoor public spaces such as squared and parks Do you agree or disagree with this statement? There has been some discussion about the existence and need of parks and squares in towns and cities While some people believe that these open premises are essential, others insist that these places make the land useless and hence they must be converted to practical purposes In my opinion, despite the voices against the larger public places, parks and squares provide great value to both the towns and its civilians First of all, the open areas have always been considered as the heart of cities, where people get together for meetings and leisure activities Besides that children and their parents spend quality time at these places after their hectic daily schedules The increasing pollution in cities is a cause of great concern for the government and the citizens and places like parks and squares often provide relaxation to the old people Moreover, such places attract tourists as they usually have a history behind their creation For instance, all European towns are famous for their beautiful gardens and city center squares Thus, it’s absolutely imperative to conserve them for the future generations On the other hand, one can’t deny the fact that cities are getting crowded each day and lacking places to build public and commercial centers New transportation systems are coming to the cities and they need a large space to build stations and wider lanes For example, New York was planned nearly two hundred years ago and the roads in the city were small and narrow which were built for carts not for cars and buses Later, New York city authority converted many historical parks and gardens into parking stations and highways This transformation was publicly criticized by civilians and other town planners Therefore, destroying parks and other public places for current benefits is not the solution for space constraints in cities In conclusion, big public grounds are the need of our future generations Cities are facing a lot of pressure to develop a substantial infrastructure for the growing population, but this cannot be allowed at the cost of parks and squares Therefore, it’s completely indispensable to have huge social places in the cities and towns Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of studying abroad In recent years, there has been a growing trend toward studying abroad among young people When pursuing educational opportunities overseas is widely considered as a life-transforming opportunity, students should take on a number of challenges Below are some specific advantages and disadvantages of studying abroad Studying abroad allows one to gain a real knowledge of a new culture and a new language By interacting and communicating with native speakers daily, students can enhance their foreign language skills They will simultaneously explore the values and ways of life of the host country For example, Asian students might be surprised to find that communication in Western countries is starkly open and straightforward, in sharp contrast to the intense use of non-verbal messages in communication in their home countries Not surprisingly, even simple everyday experiences, such as buying food and mailing letter, can help improve language proficiency and promote culture learning It gives students new perspectives on how things are done During their overseas trips, many students will learn how to take care of themselves and live independently They might have initial difficulties in fulfilling even the simplest tasks at the very beginning, such as grocery shopping, doing laundry, making living arrangements and setting accounts for electricity, but before long, they will adapt to the new environment and become self-sufficient Moreover, by interacting with people from different backgrounds, overseas students can exercise and improve their social skills, an experience which is of great value to their careers later in life While studying abroad has its advantages, it might have its drawbacks Most of the students are lack of life experience when they first travel overseas Failure to cope with the problems that arise from their everyday lives might cause frustration They feel helpless, suffer homesick and in worse cases, have a breakdown As suggested above, studying abroad poses both opportunities and challenges While young people can become polyglots and independent individuals, gain opportunities for personal growth and develop an appreciation of cultural differences, they have to cope with the stress of living overseas Do you think middle school students should study international news as a subject? Many parents expect their children to live at home until college However, there are occasions on which parents have to send their children to a boarding school, an educational institution not only giving educational instruction but also providing food and lodging A boarding school, as an alternative to a day school, has its advantages and disadvantages, as outlined below The boarding school option means early separation from parents For this reason, a student’s self- reliance and independence are both bolstered Living away from home, students have to make most of daily decisions by themselves They have to adjust to another set of new circumstances and surroundings, which is a good opportunity for them to exercise a variety of skills, such as social skills Rather than depending on their parents, students have to the laundry themselves, manage their diets, and keep their bedrooms clean and tidy They are more self-disciplined than those who attend day schools In addition, there is no denying that to many parents, a boarding school provides a choice that merits particular attention, and sometimes, the sole option Geographic relocation, for example, presents a problem of educational continuity Because of their career, parents might have to resettle in a neighbourhood where schooling facilities are inadequate A boarding school is the best option to them, as it protects children from the influence of frequent relocations It also suits those families where parents are so devoted to their work that they fail to bear care responsibilities Although boarding schools succeed in satisfying the needs of some families, opponents are concerned about their mixed impacts on children’s development For example, then intervention on children’s academic years appears to be excessive Extracurricular programmes occupy children’s free time and children are required to obey a large number of rules, most of which are stringent and redundant Any minor mistake can engender punishment or even expulsion Without permission, students cannot go outside defined school bounds It is no exaggeration to say that children are virtually living in an isolated world From what has been discussed, one can observe that a boarding school has its position in a fast- paced society, assisting children to enhance their independence and undertaking care responsibilities as a replacement of parents, although students might have to face limited contact with their families, communities and the loss of freedom Some people think that social skills are as important as academic qualifications To what extent you agree or disagree?
