A JEFFERSON TOWNSHIP BOARD OF EDUCATION Regular Meeting Minutes Monday, October 28, 2019 6:30 PM (Closed Session) – 7:30 PM (Regular Session) Jefferson Township High School Media Center ******************************************************************************** Mr Millar, called the meeting to order at 7:34 PM, and read the Open Meeting Statement, below: In accordance with the Open Meeting Law, the Jefferson Township Board of Education has caused notice of this meeting to be published by having the date, time and place thereof, posted in the Jefferson Township Municipal Building, with copies of such notice delivered or mailed or electronically mailed to the following: DAILY RECORD and posted on the Jefferson Township Board of Education website (www.Jefftwp.org); and CLOSED SESSION Motion by Mr Stewart, seconded by Mrs Small, that the Board of Education adopt the following resolution: BE IT RESOLVED, by the Jefferson Township Board of Education on this 28th day of October, 2019 at 6:39 PM, as follows: The Board shall recess to closed session in accordance with the Open Public Meetings Law, N.J.S.A 10:4-12b (1), (2), (6), (7) and (8) The general nature of the discussion will involve matters confidential by law, any investigations or tactics or techniques to protect persons or litigation These matters will be disclosed to the public as soon as the need for confidentiality no longer applies This resolution shall take effect immediately The meeting was called to public session at 7:23 PM October 28, 2019 Regular Meeting Minutes E SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT Mrs Howe reported on the Good News and Progress in Our Schools F PUBLIC HEARING ON SUPERINTENDENT CONTRACT Mr Stewart, Negotiations Committee Chairperson presented the Superintendent’s contract G PRESENTATIONS Mr Roger Jinks, Assistant Superintendent presented the Spring 2019 NJSLA Results Mr Christopher Hiben, K-12 Supervisor of Science/F&CS/G&T and Dr Nancy FitzGerald, Environmental Academy Honors Instructor presented the Academy of Environmental Sciences Virtual Sandbox Mrs Jeanne Howe, Superintendent presented 2018-2019 Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying (HIB) Grades H COMMENTS FROM THE AUDIENCE (on agenda action items only, if applicable) None I STUDENT REPRESENTATIVES Student Representative Mark Schmidt commented on the success of the fall sports programs at the high school Student Representative Ian McAndrew reported on various club sports, the Red Cross Blood Drive, Mr Jefferson, Spirit Week and the Homecoming Bonfire and Dance He also noted student took PSAT’s and congratulated the Marching Band on their season J COMMITTEE REPORTS Negotiations Committee – Mr Stewart reported the Committee met on various dates to update members on developments Building Needs and Finance Committee – Mrs Wildermuth reported the Committee met on October and discussed Referendum updates, the plaque for the Drummond Building, the high school boilers, planning for 2020-2021 Budget, High School Scoreboard Funding Status and Board of Education Goals Personnel and Policy Committee – Mrs Small highlighted the minutes of the October meeting noting the Committee discussed open positions in district, personnel issues, District Goals and Policy & Regulations Education Committee – Mrs Poulas discussed the October minutes and highlighted discussion items such as; JTHS late arrival/early dismissal privilege, SY18-19 HIB Self-Assessment grades, QSAC Self-Evaluation, Memorandum of Understanding with the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office for Live Streaming, Uniform Memorandum of Agreement with Jefferson Township Police Department, AP Courses at JTHS, class size overview for 19-20SY, Board of Education Goals and District Goals, course proposals and approval of
