This is a true presentation of the mission in front of a jury, in the manner in which a project or study would be presented in front of a decision-making body CAREER PROJECT DEFENSE Number of hours Code Campus Ho Chi Minh Version ECTS Weight 00 Year 2017 General principles include the following: Duration: 20 minutes broken down to: 10-12 minutes for the presentation and 8/10 minutes for questions and answers The jury is made up of: the President, the tutor(s) that assisted you with your research, teachers and professionals in the Hospitality industry You thus should: - Wear the Vatel uniform - Prepare your 10 minute presentation very carefully, timing yourself before (if you go overtime, the jury will stop your presentation before you have finished) It must be concise but understandable for someone who has no idea what subject you will be presenting You can use notes prepared in advance, however we advise you not to “read” a document This presentation can be presented in the following order (times are for reference only): o Reminder of the subject title: 30 seconds o Reasons for choosing this subject (interest, link with your personal projects): to minutes o The problem itself: what questions have you tried to give answers to? Why are these questions important: to minutes o General information: what answers have already been found to these questions: minutes o What new proposals can you make and why are they relevant? (this is the most important part, as it is your personal contribution): to minutes It may be more practical for some students who respond to several questions to have a question and answer period for each question asked It of course is up to you - You will of course have a copy of your Dissertation with you, but avoid consulting it during your speech (this is a waste of time), except if you are referring to something on a specific page (a chart or graph for example) - When answering questions posed by the jury, make your answers short and simple If you are unable to answer a particular question, it is better to simply say so rather than to give an answer that does not address the question or to lose time jabbering - Generally speaking, “take your time” The jury is not there to condemn you, but on the contrary, to highlight the best parts of your work and your personal projects Taking a few seconds to think about an answer is recommended The use of visual supports such as PowerPoint is allowed You can prepare a short concise document to be handed out to each jury member before your presentation, and base your presentation on this 2|Page EVALUATION OF THE CAREER PROJECT PRESENTATION FOR ACADEMIC RESEARCH Content: (20/40) 1) Research Objectives / Sources (LR) 2) Methodology 3) Research process 4) Findings/conclusions Excellent     Good     Total Presentation: (20/40) 1) Oral restitution, convincing power 2) Oral expression, vocabulary, choice of words 3) Gestures, look, voice, smile, empathy, uniform compliance (clothes, hair, etc…) 4) Conciseness, synthesis of subject 5) Time management & visual aid using Total Average         …… /20 Insufficent     Excellent Good Average Insufficent                     …… /20 FOR BUSINESS PLAN Content: (20/40) 1) Business Theme / Setup 2) Logistics – staffing, FF&F, equip etc 3) Environment – legal, competition, S.W.O.T, P.E.S.I) 4) Financial viability (R.O.I, Cash flow, Break Even, Pay back period) Excellent   Good       Insufficent             …… /20 Total Presentation: (20/40) 1) Oral restitution, convincing power 2) Oral expression, vocabulary, choice of words 3) Gestures, look, voice, smile, empathy, uniform compliance (clothes, hair, etc…) 4) Conciseness, synthesis of subject 5) Time management & visual aid using Total Average Excellent Good Average Insufficent                     …… /20 3|Page 4|Page ... member before your presentation, and base your presentation on this 2|Page EVALUATION OF THE CAREER PROJECT PRESENTATION FOR ACADEMIC RESEARCH Content: (20/40) 1) Research Objectives / Sources... to condemn you, but on the contrary, to highlight the best parts of your work and your personal projects Taking a few seconds to think about an answer is recommended The use of visual supports
