SPU International Student Resources SPU Resources Admissions – Undergraduate Admissions for International Students (freshmen and transfer students) offers information, support and connections to on-campus services Check out Frequently Asked Questions here Student Academic Services – Once you are enrolled, Student Academic Services offers help with academic planning, and services to assist you with your non-immigrant status including VISA status, Curricular Practical Training (CPT) and Optional Practical Training (OPT) authorizations, cultural adjustment, and general support Center for Learning – Provides guidance and resources to support students’ academic success Meet 1:1 or with a group for study skills coaching, tutoring, study tables, writing support, and more Center for Career & Calling – Career Counselors assist international students with discernment of calling, choice of major, career exploration, internship and job search strategies, interviewing skills, and development of résumés, cover letters, Linked profiles, etc International students are encouraged to attend employer events including Meet Ups, Treks and Career Fairs to learn about U.S employers and potential opportunities SPU Clubs – SPU has a broad range of student clubs, including many with an ethnic and/or cultural focus Some include: Le Cercle Francais, Russian Club, Asian American Association, Vietnamese Student Association, Black Student Union, Filipino American Student Association (FASA), International Student Club, Mosaic, SALSA, and Korean Student Association Job Search & Networking Resources Going Global –Going Global provides constantly-updated career and employment resources for 30 countries, and a variety of U.S cities Resources include: work permit/visa regulations, resume/cv writing guidelines, employment trends, professional and social networking groups, interview and cultural advice LinkedIn.com – The world’s largest professional network: 300 million strong The Alumni Tool, and the Field of Study Explorer can put you in touch with professionals in your field of interest for informational interviews, potential internships and jobs The Seattle Networking Guide – Seattle area professional associations with an international focus Students are often welcome to attend professional association meetings and can make connections with employers in their fields of interest by networking at these events My Visa Jobs.com – Employment website for international candidates Research employers who have filed H-1B visa applications and are likely to be open to hiring international students Seattle Area Resources ISI Seattle – International Students, Inc is an interdenominational organization supported by local churches and individuals that offers support and resources to international students Seattle International Students – Works with students one-one-one to help them with whatever they need prior to arrival and during their stay Services are available for a fee
