Air Force Junior ROTC Summer Leadership Schools Dear Parent/Guardian April 2014 Congratulations, your child has been selected to attend either the Southeastern Regional Air Force JROTC Summer Leadership School and/or the West Georgia Air Force JROTC Mini-Drill Leadership School Selection was based upon demonstrated performance and potential for leadership excellence The training and experience will empower your child with skills to help enhance leadership success in any area Camp fees are due as indicated below: a Southeastern Region Air Force JROTC Summer Leadership School, Mercer University, Macon, GA: Cadre =7 – 14 June ($315); basics = – 14 June ($250) The entire amount is due by 30 April (cash or money order only) No refunds will be allowed once we commit on May, unless an eligible replacement can be found The attached leadership school forms must be completed, signed, and notarized (as indicated) and returned to me by 30 April Students attending both camps must complete a different set of forms for each camp, because each camp is run by a different unit In addition to the forms referenced above, students must also submit by 30 April a copy of their health care card in the event of injury or illness and an athletics physical conducted by a doctor, completed for the current 2013-2014 year Students who participated in DHS athletics can get me a copy of their physical that’s on file with their coach It is imperative that you thoroughly complete all medical forms and that your child brings any needed medications (asthma inhalers, etc.) with him/her, and that you list (on the medical profile form) all the over the counter medications he/she has your permission to take/have while at camp b West Georgia Air Force JROTC Mini-Drill Leadership School, University of West Georgia, Carrollton, GA: 24 – 27 June = cadre ($195) and basics ($165) The entire amount is due by May (cash or money order, only No refunds after this date unless an eligible replacement can be found Forms for the West Georgia Air Force JROTC Mini Drill Leadership School will be provided under separate cover later this month, and will be due back completed, strongly encourage your child to maintain some type of physical training (running, male style push-ups, sit-ups) from now until the camp starts and drink plenty of water and consume more potassium(bananas a good source) on a regular basis Students who not meet run standards prior to departure will not be allowed to go to camp or if they arrive camp and cannot meet run standards, they will be dismissed from camp 2) Another requirement is that your child’s hair must conform to Air Force standards regarding style, bulk, color, and appearance Please help us make sure your child is in compliance with all grooming standards before he/she leaves home on the day of departure Students who fail to meet grooming standards will not be allowed to go to camp Your child is required to report to DHS JROTC, 8am to 11am, each day as indicated for the specific camps for follow up training Transportation departure times and emergency contact numbers will be provided during the final follow-up training in June Cadre will definitely be required to provide their own transportation to both camps The mode of transportation for basics will be determined in June Southeastern Region Air Force JROTC Summer Leadership School: report to DHS JROTC 2-6 June, 8am to 11am for follow up training The West Georgia Air Force JROTC Mini-Drill Leadership School: report to DHS JROTC 16-20 June, 8am to 11am for follow up training We also ask that you make sure your child does not bring any item to camp that can be perceived as a weapon Check the luggage your child plans to bring If your child does report with an item the host school system perceives as a weapon, he/she will be sent home Also, please make sure your child’s luggage is tagged with their full name and DHS JROTC/GA-20063 PLEASE make sure your child brings all the required items on the items list We will not be able to get them for them once at camp One last very important note: once your child pays, we are committed to pay the funds to the colleges hosting the camps and cannot give a refund unless we can find an eligible substitute, and, if your child fails to meet eligibility requirements during the follow-up training prior to departing for camp or reports on the departure day failing to meet grooming standards, your child will not be allowed to go to camp, and will not get a refund Please email me at
