Class of 2022: Viking Distinguished Graduate Program ● ● ● Replacement of Valedictorian/Salutatorian Program from previous years Designed to further develop well-rounded students who can become leaders in our community and society Students are incentivized, challenged and rewarded in areas outside of academics to earn recognition through the program Requirements ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ AHD Diploma Application process: preliminary application in Fall/final applications in Spring Rubric based to earn points for each designated area Top 3% of applicants will receive recognition as Distinguished Graduate Next 7% will receive recognition as Commended Graduate Graduation Pathways *Grad Pathways is our “Plan B” if your son/daughter hasn’t passed either/both ISTEP tests Categories need to be met: - Earn the credits - Prove employability skills(project,work or service based learning) - Prove college and career readiness Your child may be asked to take the ASVAB- don’t panic :) College Applications Every school will have a deadline for applications pay attention to those details! *Priority deadlines for most colleges is November 1st *General applications can be finished by March 1, but it is always best to turn applications in earlier (higher chance you have of being accepted) College Applications A complete college application includes: - Online application - HS transcript sent through Parchment (www.parchment.com) - Application fee (not applicable for some schools) - Test scores from entrance exams (SAT & ACT) - Written essays and letters of recommendation (only select schools) CollegeGOWeek www.in.gov/learnmoreindiana College Application Week - September 20th-24th (fee waiver) For a list of schools and their fees & other great information!! How and When- Ordering from Jostens Students must order at least the Grad Tassel see next slide for more detail There are several ways to order: •On-line at Jostens.com •Packet order form ● State Workforce Innovation Council (SWIC) program/Governor's Office ● Vetted & valued by Hoosier employers, community based organizations and post-secondary education institutions ● Designed to encourage students to meet the benchmarks that will assist them in their career/college goals & give students a way to demonstrate their skills Persistence: Student is able to persevere through challenges and problem-solve Will they come to work everyday? Respectfulness: Student accepts & demonstrates service to others, possesses a positive attitude and communicates clearly Can they get along with co-workers? Initiative: Student is a self-starter and a critical thinker Can they work independently? Dependability: Student is reliable & demonstrates responsibility, academic readiness & teamwork Can I count on them? Efficiency: Student is organized, punctual & demonstrates self-management Can they get the job done in a timely manner, without wasting resources?
