Northern Illinois University M.S.Ed of Higher Education and Student Affairs Internship Opportunity Internship Title: Intern Institution: Northern Illinois University Student Conduct Location/Office: Internship Period: SUMMER 2021 Credit Hours Required: 120 hours for credits Supervisor: Jeanne Meyer or Brian Glick Supervisor’s Degree: J.D or Ed.D Years of Professional Experience: 10+ Internship Description: (Please provide an overview and primary responsibilities of the internship) The intern serves in the role in the same capacity as a professional staff member of the office The intern will investigate and adjudicate alleged violations of the Student Code of Conduct and other applicable university policy The intern will meet with students and engage in educational conversations in accordance with the procedure identified in the Student Code of Conduct The intern will complete projects and training sessions related to the role of the Student Conduct office and restorative justice pursuits of the university Outcomes/ Experiences: (Please list several experiential learning outcomes that will be achieved throughout this internship) The intern will understand the role of the educational nature of the student conduct process at a public institution The intern will interface with stakeholders around the campus as it relates to student conduct and the restorative justice program The intern will gain valuable professional and personal conflict resolution skills The intern will have the opportunity to network with student conduct professionals from around the country and the world Qualifications / Requirements: (Please list desired qualifications and skills for internship) A desire to learn about the role and importance of student conduct at an institution of higher education Attention to detail A strong desire to help students be successful at the institution A willingness to engage in difficult conversations with empathy The willingness to hold students accountable Hours/Scheduling: (Please provide a typical schedule and time of day internship will occur) Staff members and interns work during the business day (8:00 AM to 4:30 PM) or flexed time, Monday through Friday, as agreed to between intern and supervisor The intern is scheduled to complete 120 hours during the course of the May intersession and/or summer semester Application Process (Applicants will submit a cover letter, resume and three references, please provide the contact name, phone number and e-mail address) Name: Phone Number: E-mail:
