Kean University College of Education PDS vs NonPDS Preprofessional Field Experience Performance Competency Comments Spring 2013 (All comments have been copied exactly as entered into the online assessment) PDS Cooperating Teacher Comments  Continue coursework and research based learning  Joanne is motivated and well organized She is very attentive and willing to alter her plans to benefit the students learning She takes well to constructive comments Joanne is professional hard working  Joanne is very capable top continue with senior field  Great experience with Catherine She was prompt, showed enthusiasm, and I would have her back  Orlando did a fantastic job Looking forward to his progress next year  It was a pleasure having Jaslyn Burgos as an intern She exhibited professionalism and presence on a daily basis  It was a pleasure to have Jessica in the classroom this semester She has demonstrated that she is very capable when it comes to math instruction and working to meet the needs of the students  Ms Delmar is a very capable young teacher She understands the content very well and has a deep pedagogy for someone this early in their career  Katie was a pleasure to have as a student teacher Her presence in the classroom was professional and each week presented a multi-sensory lesson to a group of learning disabled students Katie listened to ways she could improve her teaching and tried diferent types of teaching styles to fit the needs of all our students  Miss Galindo did very well in my class She was always professional and well prepared Her lessons were engaging and students always stayed on task I was a pleasure having Miss Galindo in my class  Michal has great potential to be a successful math instructor There is a need and requirement for creation and development of original lesson plans that cater to the class, as a whole, and individual student learning styles  Ms Nizzardo was very hard working and had a great rapport with the students She made every effort to get to know the students names and try to connect with them personally The students and I really enjoyed having her once a week and I am sad to see hr go  Natasha demonstrated great enthusiasm for teaching profession  Mrs Da silva was a very good student teacher She accepted all my positive and negative comments It was a pleasure to have in my classroom  Katie has learned many strategies and management techniques during her preprofessional field experience that she can adapt and use in her future classroom settings I hope she continues to research new classroom management techniques, as well as ways to ifferentiate instruction When Katie developed a lesson, you were able to tell that she had the content knowledge available to share with the students She is willing to implement ideas and suggestions presented to her Katie can continue to focus on hr time management The students and I wish her lots of luck and I look forward to working with her during her professional field experience, or at least seeing her around the building  Mary's lesson plans are detailed and align with the Core Curriculum Standards She continued to assess each student throughout the semester and planned her lessons accordingly  Raphaela created lessons that were developmentally appropriate and engaging She took the students' interests into account when developing lesson plans She has a warm personality and was always willing to work with students who needed extra support Aditionally, Raphaela is eager to learn and grow as a teacher Preprofessional Competency Assessment Comments – PDS vs NonPDS – Spring 2013 Prepared by NCATE Office – 6/4/13  Leah shows great promise of becoming a educational leader in her classroom She has knowledge of student's ability levels and capabilities Her vast knowledge of technological skills is evident and used confidently  Excellent Junior field student goodluck in the future of education! It was a pleasure having her in my classroom  Erika was a pleasure to have in my classroom She is truly a wonderful person and will make an excellent teacher in the near future She has a great personality and loves the children she works with There is not doubt in my mind that Erika will succee and make a great teacher!  Megan has been wonderful to work with in the classroom She accepts criticism and input and attempts to modify her instruction accordingly She has an excellent rapport with the students  Maria pleasantly surprised me this semester She was well prepared with lessons that fit perfectly into the curriculum and she discussed them with me on the very first day I absolutely loved her ideas! Maria is very creative and her lessons really hadmy students eager to learn She seems like a natural in front of the class already I can't wait to work with her during her senior internship, where she will most likely continue to impress me There's no doubt in my mind that teaching is the professin for her  Caitlin has many excellent qualities necessary to make a great teacher her strenghts are many she maintains professionalism at all times she makes decisions quickly and she is always calm and pleasent she is very personable, upbeat and caring i am thnkful for the oppurtunity to meet caitlin  Mark clearly enjoys working with children but does not possess the knowledge, skills or dispositions required to teach effectively  Melissa has shown growth this semester Classroom management is difficult when only being with a class once a week, however Melissa was able to keep the students on task and ready to learn by using a variety of strategies  Brittney did a great job this semester She came to her preprofessional experience with great knowledge of students needs and ability level She took every suggestion given and applied it to make her lessons more and more interesting and successful  Kellie showed growth during the semester Her confidence level soared With hard work and determination she will succeed during her senior experience  Kaitlin has proven herself to be a capable, competent professional in the classroom She was well liked by her third grade students, and was able to meet their educational needs  Leanne is an eager learner that takes suggestions and uses them to improve her instruction Leanne puts the effort into developing valuable lessons Leanne has the drive needed to be a wonderful educator  Miss Gold is an excellent candidate for your program She will be an asset to any classroom that she is assigned to during her Professional Internship It was a pleasure having her in my classroom  Ms Davis arrived promptly each week, ready to present her lessons She interacted nicely with the children in a whole group setting as well as on a one-to-one basis Ms Davis' plans were wellprepared and demonstrated her knowledge of current technoloy skills Ms Davis acted in a professional manner, and she had a good rapport with other faculty members at Silver Bay Ms Davis is wished great success in her senior experience  Brittany was fortunate to have shared the classroom with a professional intern She has had the opportunity to discuss with the Kean U professional intern about many of the challenges and opportunities that she will face in her professional internship Good luck to Brittany as she moves into her special education student teaching assignment  Shana has taught science throughout the semester She did a good job in using technology to plan and present solid powerpoint presentations She now should work to become more confident and she should take the initiative to add her personal research andcreativity to her basic lesson plans as she moves into her student teaching I am confident that with hard work she will be successfu Good luck!  It was a pleasure to have Jeffrey work with us in my class He worked hard to plan his lessons and improved steadily during the semester I wish him good luck as he moves into his student teaching Preprofessional Competency Assessment Comments – PDS vs NonPDS – Spring 2013 Prepared by NCATE Office – 6/4/13  Corinne is enthusiastic She relates well to the students She was prepared her her lessons Corinne was eager to learn different strategies to help students learn  Ms Russell has been making steady progress throughout her pre-professional internship  Mr Buganski has progressed well throughout his pre-professional experience  Sarah has progressed well throughout the semester  Mr Sabates has progressed very well throughout his preprofessional internship  Ms Fioriani will make a wonderful teacher, she relates well to the students and responds well to student needs as well  It has been a pleasure having Christine in my class room working with my students She is well prepared, enthusiastic, and professional She has done an amazing job She will be an asset in any class room  It has been an absolute pleasure working with Ms Daly this semester She has displayed a strong desire to teach and has shown tremendous growth in such a short period of time It was wonderful working with someone with such professionalism passion towads the teaching profession  Mr Benedict was completely profesional during his junior field experience He was eager to learn and engage with the students He planned comprehensive lessons with clear objectives, anticipatory sets, multiple means of representation, multiple means o enagement, and assessment I look forward to seeing him grow in his role as the teacher I encourage him to work on researching the historical content to make more meaningful connections, improve his assertive demeanor and "teacher voice," and look to mprove classroom & behavior management systems  Student is well prepared  I have had student teachers over the past five years and am impressed with the ease to which Jolise enters the classroom, connects with the students, and delivers the instruction She is a natural with regard to teaching  Recommended for Admission to Professional Internship/Preprofessional II  none  Ms McGrath has shown dedication, growth, and a strong work ethic during her preprofessional field experience I am confident she will continue to develop her practice and will well during her professional internship  Mary Grace Moreno has come a long way and is ready for her student teaching experience  Jenna was a wonderful preprofessional intern She was very organized and made in depth and interesting lesson plans She worked well with the students and they in turn respected her I am looking forward to working with her during her senior field at RH and expect her to succeed  In the short time that we have worked together I am proud of Linda I will miss her in the classroom and look forward to seeing her in the halls of RHS in the fall  A placement in high school is suggested  Ms Alvarado is a hard working student intern who demonstrates potential as a classroom teacher She showed promise, never having been in the teaching classroom before She is enthusiastic, working with the students teaching science She relates well t the students  Mrs.King did a great job with jumping right in She has a great deal of patience working with the middle school child She has improved in organizing her lessons and incoroprating outside visuals She is flexiable in changing her instruction and lesson ifit is not working She will have to continue to work on time management and managing student behavior as she continues with her student teaching  Rocco Contessa is destined to become a master teacher He has a remarkable understanding of the Social Studies curriculum as well as a firm, but fair classroom management style Mr Contessa's lessons are always creative, cross-curricular, and engaging If I had to pick his greatest strength, it would be his natural talent for working one-on-one with ELL and special needs students Mr Contessa's enthusiasm in the classroom is contagious and he is always inspiring his students to take charge of their on learning  Ms Leight has demonstrated strong knowledge in the discipline area and conveys information through well-prepared lessons Mutual respect amongst the students and student teacher is evident Ms Leight's transitions are seamless, and students engage in espectful interactions while working on Preprofessional Competency Assessment Comments – PDS vs NonPDS – Spring 2013 Prepared by NCATE Office – 6/4/13 task Activities are varied to promote student engagement, and a conscious effort is made to include all students in question and discussion opportunities I am looking forward to working with Ms Leight in Septemer! NonPDS Cooperating Teacher Comments  The teacher's activity was grade appropriate She introduced the lesson by asking questions about their previous knowledge She engaged the learners, modeled the activity and asked appropriate questions She provided a practice activity which providedfeedback to those who needed extra help In closure students using independent practice students processed their learning,  Carissa continues to demonstrate a high level of interaction and concern for the children's development in the absence of being observed and graded  Gabrielle has the makings of a fine educator She maintains a high level of professionalism, and is always willing to tackle any challenge I give her She is a hard worker, has a great rapport with both students and staff  Ellen is an intelligent, poised, and confident student teacher!  David Kalin is a responsible and knowledgable individual  I think Katlyn did a great job I think as she enters the next phase of student teaching she would benefit if she had a set lesson plan typed out to reference for guidance during her lesson Overall, it was wonderful experience to have Katlyn in our class  Ms Gooding has a passion for teaching She developed positive relationships with students and teachers She is professional, takes constructive criticism well, and would work well in any school  Bill is determined, open, and humble which are essential character traits of an effective teacher  Andrew Rau, Kean's Preprofessional, has displayed less than satisfactory work with professionalism, punctuality, preparedness and content understanding  Marija was an outstanding individual who has all the right tools and abilities to become an amazing teacher She motivated and encouraged the students during her entire experience She was always professional, always demonstrated an awesome attitude with n eagerness to learn  Mike is ready for the Pre-Professional Field  Angela was very responsible with her activities and created wonderful lesson plans following the NJCCCS For every lesson, we constantly think about what was successful about our lessons and what needed to be improved It has allowed me to reflect on mypersonal pedagogy It was a pleasure for me to be a mentor for one of the students of Kean University  Working with Sharon has been a great experience She is always very enthusiastic and professional She has developed a good rapport with my students  excellent Preprofessional Competency Assessment Comments – PDS vs NonPDS – Spring 2013 Prepared by NCATE Office – 6/4/13  I feel that Ms Hoffman has an intuitive feel for the workings of an elementary classroom She relates very well to the students It has been a pleasure to work with her this semester I feel that she will be a wonderful teacher!  Kelsey is highly motivated to her best She is an enthusiastic learner and a pleasure to work with  It was a pleasure having Sharon work with me and my students She will be missed by me and my class We wish her the best in her career  Performed very well  Allison has been an excellent addition to our classroom She works hard, accepts constructive criticism, and always tries to improve  Ms Rebelo is very enthused with her demonstration toward teaching students She designs her lesson plan very rigorously with the NJ Core Standards She's very creative and knowledgeable I recommend her highly to any district  Miss Chance is a great teacher,who spends alot of time planning and prepping for her lessonns.she is friendly and inviting and is easy to learn from  Gen did an exceptional job infusing herself into our classroom from day one She planned lessons that were engaging and met different learner's styles She was professional and prepared weekly and was always willing to go out of her way to help the studnt's with any questions they may have  Nicole has done a fantastic job She has been an asset to me and has been able to pick up on classroom techniques, procedures and management smoothly  Kyle is punctual and professional He is knowledgeable in the subject area and is beginning to feel more comfortable in front of the classroom Kyle has taken this learning experience very seriously  Mr Winter has presented lessons aligned to the Core Standards and district curriculum He maintained accepted standards of student behavior establishing a productive classroom environment He has exhibited the skills essential for entering his professinal field experience  Mr DeLucchi has shown the ability to enter into his professional experiences  Sara is a very professional teacher She is extremely motivated and presents lessons in the same manner The students are eager to learn from her creative, challenging and organized lessons as well She is a dedicated professional who is ready to enter th field of education  Mr Cisko has always been open to getting help with his planning for teaching He has worked well with students He has planned well when he has presented lessons He has made materials for the classroom Students have been very receptive to his teaching.It has been a pleasure having him work with me  Ms Gibson did a terrific job in her pre-professional experience She will continue to grow in her professional experience and brings knowledge, a skill set, and disposition that will flourish in any school Thank you  Mrs Bartsch is an excellent teacher candidate She is always well prepared, has deep understanding of lesson content and objectives, and was extremely professional  I commend Chrystal for her talent and dedication and wish her all the best!!  Ms Stoltz was an asset to the classroom She was always willing to whatever needed to be done to help her students become successful  I feel that with maturity Robert could become an effective teacher I however, recommend that he focus his teaching aspirations on the elementary and beginner instrumental level, as the pressure of middle and high school would be overwhelming for hm When he felt comfortable he really did show great promise in his teaching ability The main issues which caused him not to succeed were lack of planning, disorganization and procrastination He always found some reason that things were not completed He needs to become a better planner and not wait for the situation to reach disastrous proportions It is my sincere hope that with self reflection he will get back on track and become successful in his future internships  Beth shows promise as an instrumental music teacher She will learn how to "take the temperature" of a class and get a feel for their level of accomplishment with experience Knowing her audience will help her target instruction  Joshua has a fine basic knowledge that will serve him well when he enters his professional internship Preprofessional Competency Assessment Comments – PDS vs NonPDS – Spring 2013 Prepared by NCATE Office – 6/4/13  I think Rebecca would benefit from conditions on her senior field She had a hard time doing just one lessons sometimes a mini second lesson a week and senior field is much more  I enjoyed working with Danielle I believe she can it when she is ready to commit to it  Precious interacted beautifully with the children They responded very well to her I am sorry Precious had personal issues that I believe held her back in some areas I expect she will be well if she is able to focus on her professional internship  Miss Javier was a natural in the classroom from day one When a task was presented to her she went above and beyond to complete the task Miss Javier was a professional in the classroom and in the building community  Tanya has demonstrated growth during her field experience and has worked well with her students She is willing to accept suggestions and implements them when possible She plans interactive lessons that are appropriate for her Kindergarteners, thereby romoting student success  Hector has done a fine job with his Jr field experience He has demonstated a great repore with the students He has been very proffesional with his approach to teaching His lessons have been creative and engaging He like other young teachers has shown mprovement with managing behavior I recommend Hector for admission to his Professional Internship/ Preprofessional II  He is a young person and needs to let the class know that he is in charge I think he will be a good physical education teacher  I feel that Brandon would be a great asset to any district Brandon displays all the qualities cabaple of being able to motivate many students of various learning style and abilities  Oskar has developed the skills, techniques & methods needed to become a proficient teacher in this field  Robert showed up evry week on time and prepared He was energenic and a pleasure to work with He has a bright future and the field of Health and Physical Education  Mitchell did a great job this spring Mitchell was eager and ready to learn and get involved Mitchell took constructive feedback well and used it I think Mitchell will a great job in hissStudent teaching experience I would love the opportunity to ave Mitchell as my student teacher next year  I have worked with Richard for the past semester and working with him has been a pleasure He has a willingness to learn, works well with the students and has a positive rapport with teachers and staff  I have worked with Richard for the past semester and working with him has been a pleasure He has a willingness to learn, works well with the students and has positive rapport with teachers and staff  Alysia established a positiv relationship with the children and was sensitive to their needs She planned her activities based on children's insterest By the end of the semester she became to understand more how young children learn Alysia has developedsome classroom management skills and she is learning how to differentiate instruction to meet their developmental level We wish you the best next semester!  I enjoyed having Brianne Bossard in my classroom  Ms Perez needs to be aware of the time constraints and adjust her activities within the time-frame If she would relax more when presenting her lessons, she would enjoy teaching even more By doing so, it would make her lessons more attractive to studets In my opinion, Ms Perez has the ability to become a good teacher She will require, at the beginning, to have guidance and direction to engage the students in her lessons Also, with assistance, she needs to learn how to shorten her lesson plans t emphasize only the key components She will find that this method will make her lessons easier to follow  I believe that Mr Walters has made the most of his experience at my school and is ready to move on to his next field experience  It was a pleasure to work with Nour Atshan This was my first cooperating teacher experience, and Ms Atshan worked really hard to make it a positive experience for all of us She often took initiative and felt comfortable in doing so Ms Atshan demonstated her passion for teaching in our Kindergarten classroom She looked forward to hearing constructive criticism as a way to develop her teaching strategies Ms Atshan will be an assest to any school district she desires  Mrs Siyam was an excellent student teacher to have in the classroom She was always very well prepared, and had an excellent relationship with the children She was always very positive and she responded well to suggestions In addition she was not afaid to ask for help when she needed it Preprofessional Competency Assessment Comments – PDS vs NonPDS – Spring 2013 Prepared by NCATE Office – 6/4/13  It was a pleasure working with Mr Shallcross  It was a pleasure working with Ms Rudzewicz  I was quite impressed with Mr Just He has a natural ease and comfort in the classroom that the children respond well to  Leonela will be an asset to any educational program She is motivated to meet with success and her love of teaching is evident in all she does  It has been a pleasure teaching with Jemima I believe that she has a natural talent and way with children She has a great work ethic and the children responded really well to her enthusiasm  Shealyn Malone shows tremendous promise as a preprofessional teacher She exhibits professional behavior while interacting with students and maintains control of the classroom environment Her lessons are fresh and innovative while conveying appropriatecontent through enriching material  The student was as asset to the classroom and worked well with the students  Matt has been awesome to work with He is eager to learn from me and his just as willing to give me some great ideas for lessons Matt reflects and makes all necessary changes that I have suggested to his lessons I know he will be very successful in hs career as an educator  Kayla is capable, talented, confident young woman who is well on her way to becoming an exceptional teacher  Anthony is developing into a confident young teacher He has the skills and the knowledge to deveiop into a qualified teacher Anthony needs to work on his presence in the classroom Also he needs to work on his verbal instructions to the student  I recommed Ryan with complete confidence He is very organized, precise, and full of great ideas He was able to build a great rapport with the students for the short time he was here  With continuous learning from his teaching experiances Chris will become a succesful educator  Diana did a great job and i hope she learned some valuable information to help her on her way to becoming a PE and Health teacher The students enjoyed her idea and new games as well as her positive attitude It was a pleasure to work with Diana  Rebecca has a professional manner in her approach to Physical Education She is always willing to take over or help in the instruction practice Rebecca will be an asset to the profession  It was a pleasure having Daphne at my school Daphne is respectful and responsible She is well on her way to becoming a master teacher  Rebecca has been a pleasure to work with in the classroom Rebecca is always willing to help and assist in the classroom Rebecca presents herself in a professional manner at all times  Stephanie did a great job during her field experience She worked well with the students that she had in class and also showed a great rapport with others She was able to get along professionally with all of the people in the professional community in he building She needs to work on her "gym voice."
