First Floor Wimberly Library SERVICE AWARDS PRESENTATION: 3:30p m GCR (Continu ed on page 4) Former Governor Farris Bryant will return to the campus where he presided over Groundbreaking Ceremonies in 1962 to deliver the memorial address at the dedication of a general classroom building to the memory of Thomas F Fleming, Jr Gov Bryant worked very closely with Fleming throughout his administration in advancing opportunities for higher education in Florida The dedication is set for 2:30 p.m on the patio on the north side of what has been called General Classroom Building North and will be known as Fleming Hall The public is invited and a reception will follow Presiding will be President Glenwood L Creech Board of Regents Chairman Marshall Criser will dedicate the building on behalf of the Board Among the special guests will be th e Regents, on campus for a morning meeting, members of the Fleming family and governmental, legislative and business leaders with whom Fleming worked Fleming, generally credited with being the prime mover in the establishment of a university in Boca Raton, served as head of the FAU Foundation from its inception as the Endowment Corporation for a University in Boca Raton in 1960 until his death March 15, 1976 BOARD OF REGENTS MEETS AT FAU OCT 31 The regular monthly meeting of the Board of Regents will be held in the Gold Coast Room of the University Center at 9:30 a.m on Monday , Oct 31 It will be the first meeting at F AU since Miami Regent Murray Dubbin and Student Regent Les Miller, of the University of South Florida, we re appointed The meeting is open to the public HONORS CONVOCATION SET FOR OCT 20 The University 's top scholars will be honored for their academic achievements during the ninth annual Honors Convocation in the University Theatre Oct 20 at 10:30 a.m Eight students will be named University Scholars, and one will receive the $1,000 S E Wimberly Memorial Award The first Phi Kappa Phi Scholarship will also be aw~rded Dr Jose Villanueva, last year's Distinguished Teacher and associate professor of mechanical engineering, will introduce the new Distinguished Teacher who will deliver the Convocation address Classes will be dismissed and most offices closed, so that all students, faculty and staff can attend the ceremonies Please note the change in time from the previously announced 12 :30 p.m to the midmorning hour A reception will follow on the Theatre patio THEATRE AND ARTISTS SERIES SEASON TICKETS AVAILABLE Subscriptions are now available for the 1977-78 theatre season which begins Nov with the opening of "A Flea in Her Ear" and for the 1977-78 Performing Artists Series which opens with a concert by Frederic Hand, a versatile classical and popular guitarist and vihuela player, on Nov 15 Season tickets for the major three-play season are available for $10, giving the subscriber three admission coupons which may be used in any combination That's a two dollar saving over the at-thedoor ticket rate Performing Artists subscription memberships are available for $13adult, $10- student, $6- child under 12 This amounts to a $3 saving for adults and a $2 saving for students and children over single admission ticket purchases for the four-event series Subscriptions to the season events can be purchased through the mail or by visiting the Box Office (ext 2531) weekdays from 10- 4:30 p.m Theatre patron subscriptions are also being offered for $50 Patrons are listed in each program and may deduct $40 as a tax-exempt contribution October 20, 1977 Honors Convocation 10:30 a.m University Theatre Faculty and Staff in the Nevvs DR WILLIAM H HARTT h.1s received a gr·,mr for· $12,000 from DDS Engineers, Inc to stud) "Composit Plastic Materials for OTEC Systems."
