My name is Brian Farrell and I am honored and excited to be the new Principal of Fairview Elementary School I would like to thank the Board of Education and Dr George for giving me this wonderful opportunity to be part of the Fairview community! As always, our goal will be academic excellence and educating the whole child through a variety of challenging and rewarding learning experiences Throughout my fourteen years in education (Superintendent, Principal, Director and Teacher), I have acquired a skill set that covers a wide range of educational knowledge and expertise These experiences have included being an instructional leader, inspiring and supporting teachers and students, using data analysis to drive instruction, implementing educational programs to raise student achievement, presenting professional development workshops to teachers and building positive relationships with the school community All these positions have been great learning experiences which have allowed me to grow as an educator, to better serve teachers, students and their families Additionally, on a personal note, I enjoy weekends on our beautiful beaches and spending quality time with my wife and our dog, Suki I am a sports fan (Mets & Jets – yes, I suffer every year!) and love playing golf I share my passion for education with my wife through many lively conversations about teaching and learning as she is also an educator My educational background includes three degrees I hold a Bachelor of Science from St John’s University, and a Master of Arts in Teaching and Master of Science in Education from Monmouth University As we begin our journey together, I believe it is my role as Principal to effectively implement district educational goals and initiatives, be an advocate for all children, provide leadership and be a resource for our teachers and work closely with the Fairview community In order for our school to accomplish its goals, we will have collegial conversations and collaborate, be open to new ideas, encourage teamwork and reflect on our educational practices In addition, I believe everyone (teachers, parents and students) should treat one another with respect, that every student can learn and be successful and our school community plays an important role in our success * The PTO and I would like to invite the entire Fairview community to a “Meet and Greet” on August 5, 2014, from 7-8pm at Fairview School It will provide an opportunity for casual introductions and chatting about Fairview School and the upcoming year Details to follow Hope you can attend! I look forward to the beginning of a long and prosperous relationship with all the Fairview teachers, PTO, parents, community members and especially our STUDENTS as we embark on this journey together!
