NOTE: This document have been designed to assist UT faculty with the development of a contract or syllabus for thesis/dissertation and independent study, where students may earn academic credit for work that does not occur in a regular course format This document is not required, however it is expected that the instructor provide a written document that clearly articulates the expectations for the award of academic credit This includes the articulation of student learning outcomes and requirements/expectations If using this document, please delete this text box before submitting General Information: Department: Course: Course Credit Hours: Faculty: Name(s), contact information and office hours Prerequisites: Course (Catalog) Description: (e.g., Intensive discipline specific study in geriatrics and gerontology of at least 50 hours, including theoretical and experimental work May be repeated for credit.) Course Objectives: (e.g., 11 Develop an understanding of older adult issues specific to the student's discipline/work experience 11 Develop and participate in a capstone experience (e.g., literature review, course materials, internship, geriatric interest club) that combines the student's discipline/work experience and older adult issues ) Course Content: ( e.g., The course content will be determined by the instructor and the student at the beginning of the semester in which the student is enrolled in the independent study Course content will be dependent upon the capstone experience that is agreed upon by the instructor and the student.) Expectations: (e.g., A time log and evaluation needs to be submitted to receive a grade Contracts must be approved by your individual faculty member by the end of the FIRST week of school before you start your project It is the student's responsibility to communicate with his or her mentor on a regular basis Timely completion of all assignment Professional presentation of final project.)
