Academy Ends Please submit your RSVP form on the CLA webpage available at honors.ua.edu no later than February Arrival and Departure You should arrive at the Hotel Capstone between 1:00 – 2:30 p.m on Thursday, March Please allow enough time to register and take your luggage to your room Note above where service project begins at 2:30 p.m Leadership begins with service and students will participate in care packages and notes for our military abroad Parents may meet University of Alabama staff and members of the Capstone Council You will receive a schedule of events, room key, t- shirt and other materials at registration Due to the planned schedule & team activities, you must attend the entire Academy, no late arrivals or early departures The Capstone Leadership Academy will end at approximately 4:00 p.m on Friday, March Parents are invited to attend the closing events beginning at approximately 2:30 p.m., Bryant Denny Stadium, North Zone A stadium tour is available to parents arriving early at 1:30 p.m Luggage will be at The North Zone and may be picked up immediately following the closing ceremony You will not need to return to the hotel Room and Board No fee or expense is associated with attending the Capstone Leadership Academy (CLA) Participants’/students’ hotel, meals and academy material will be provided by the University of Alabama Enclosed is a list of hotels of the surrounding area of the University of Alabama for parents/guardians that choose accommodations during the CLA at their own expense Participants will be staying at the Hotel Capstone (on campus) Students must stay with the group and not with friends or family in the Tuscaloosa area No guests/visitors will be allowed during the Academy Please limit luggage to one bag as it will be safely stored at The North Zone on Friday morning We will tag student luggage for identification by CLA group There will be two (2) participants per room (double bed for each) unless otherwise required Supervision Chaperones and/or adult supervision will be present at the hotel and throughout the CLA (including overnight) Members of the Capstone Council (alumni) will be present throughout the event as well as Honors College Ambassadors Students will also remain in small groups led by current University of Alabama students during the CLA Participants will not be allowed to walk/drive around the campus independently Students will not be permitted to leave the Hotel Capstone for any reason upon our return from the Thursday evening event, nor are visitors permitted at the hotel Transportation Transportation will be provided throughout the CLA as needed (UA transportation) Participants are responsible for arranging transportation to the Hotel Capstone on Thursday afternoon and from The North Zone of Bryant Denny Stadium upon the conclusion of the Academy (approximately 4:00 p.m., Friday, March 2) Attire Casual, comfortable clothing is preferred (blue jeans included) Wear comfortable shoes for walking and be prepared for rain Please bring an umbrella and jacket in event of rain No formal clothes will be needed during the Academy We encourage you to wear your Leadership Academy t-shirt on Friday (provided at registration) Shirt sizes will be determined based on the size provided on the CLA application A sweatshirt or jacket is recommended for North Zone if needed Medical Needs If you have a medical condition and/or take medications, please include this information on the RSVP form and speak with a University of Alabama staff member at the time of registration on March In the case of a medical emergency, DCH Medical Center is only a few blocks from campus and the hotel Food Allergy Special needs or dietary restrictions must be included with your rsvp, which can be found on the CLA webpage Service Project After Hotel Capstone check-in on Thursday, students will participate in a service project supporting and remembering our military abroad If possible and on a strictly voluntary basis, please bring any or more of the item listed below: Small travel sizes or individual sizes of all items including toothpaste, granola bars, shampoo, gum, beef jerky, deodorant, instant oatmeal packs, ramen noodle packs, tuna kits, baby wipes, paperback books, Q-tips, powdered drinks mix packs, mouthwash Care packages and hand written notes of encouragement will be assembled for United States military aboard Capstone Council members will provide extra care package items for anyone who cannot bring these items Additional Information Events at the CLA will include
