Should parents ask their children to share the housework? Write a full argumentative essay to support the idea that parents should this Suggested outline: Argument 1: Children can learn to be independent and responsible Argument 2: The bonds between parents and children can be strengthened Counter: Children should spend their free time doing their homework from school rather than doing housework Most of the time, parents have always been the ones who take care of their children However, the question “Should parents ask their children to share the housework?” has become controversial recently In my opinion, I strongly believe that they should for two main reasons Firstly, doing the housework contributes a lot to the all-rounded development of a child As children learn to the housework, they learn to be independent and responsible They will be able to take care of themselves and also other people Additionally, they will be responsible and know how to learn from their mistakes Secondly, doing housework can strengthen the bonds between children and their parents Parents will have more time to spend with their children while teaching their kids to the chores Moreover, as children try to what their parents every day, children will learn to sympathize with their parents and be more cherished by what their parents have done for them Some people say that children should spend their time doing their homework from school rather than doing housework They believe that a child, as a student, should focus on studying, which they say is the main factor deciding whether the child will be successful or not However, I would say that studying is just a part of it, learning to be independent and developing social skills are also the two indispensable factors in a child's all-rounded development Additionally, overstudying may cause stress, which can lead to both physical and mental issues For example, Theodore John Kaczynski, a Harvard student who was expected to be the next “Albert Einstein” with an IQ of 167, had to live under the pressure from his mother, who forced him to stay in his room studying all the time Eventually, Kaczynski ended up spending all his life in prison after being responsible for a nationwide bombing campaign that killed people and injured 23 others To sum up, from my perspective, parents should ask their children to share the housework, not only to learn other skills and improve family relationships but also for children’s physical and mental health
