She turned the knob to the door again but the knob didn't move “Oh God!” She became terrified and tried using her slim body to force it open Suddenly she heard her son scream She turned and looked up to see that her son had been snatched by a woman “No, no,” Celina said with a screech like a wild animal and rushed back towards the steps to get her son At the top of the steps, she met the man who immediately prevented her from reaching her son “Can't you see that even your prayers are not being answered?” The man scorned in the dark His face and upper body were hidden by the dark but he had on a pair of long light brown trousers “If they were, you wouldn't have come out here because I had this all planned long before now and you cannot stop it.” “No, no,” Celina objected “You are crazy ” she hit the man with her hands but her fists had little or no impact on his broad chest “I beg you, don't this” she cried out the words amidst uncontrollable tears “You are lucky Celina that's why I'm not going to burn you along with Adrian.” Celina raised her head up as she heard what he was going to to her son She was about to object when he pushed her aside, she staggered backwards and hit the wall “Adrian is only a little boy, he knows nothing of the prophecy,” Celina pleaded for her child's life “Celina, you'll have other children,” the man looked back, his lips wiggled like he was going to smile “You know - I never gave the other parents this option I killed them along with their children.” “But you can't prove Adrian is The Chosen one, can you?” Celina defended “Adrian has the traits of The Chosen in his blood and that is enough for me The Chosen and those with traits of The Chosen must die.” His voice carried deep venom that shocked Celina, and then he stepped into the room he came out from “Don't this!” Celina rushed behind him and the instant she stepped into the room; her heart fluttered in desperation Adrian was floating a meter up in mid-air, still dressed in his pyjamas Below him was a big circle drawn on the floor and in the center of the circle was a pentagon with several other symbols within it A blueish light radiated from the circle to the roof of the room; the light was only within the circle and it was the only light in the room “Sorcery,” Celina's eyes widened in disbelief of what the man she knew very well had gotten into “She has poisoned your mind; this is not you.” Celina shouted out pointing at the other woman who was dressed in a long red cloak ∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞ C Part elina's heart palpitated extremely fast but she was weak from the drugs she had been given to calm her nerves and make her rest, hence she didn't have much strength Suddenly, she became apprehensive from the discussion she just overhead In the winter’s cold, sweat came over her and the sleepy eyes she had previously, immediately left her though she was still weak Sweat came over her entire body so much that one would think there was a heating unit on high temperature in the room “Mama,” Adrian her son cried, struggling to get free from the force that caused his levitation He could only shake his body within where he in mid-air Celina rushed towards him but a force a few inches from the circle pushed her back “Don't! Don't!” Celina shook her head and turned quickly as she looked at the other woman She was desperate to save her child “Sir,” the other woman looked up There shall be no more chosen prophecy I shall put an end to it here, now even if it means ending my own lineage,” the man said and then looked at the woman with a determined gaze His eyes flashed liked something else was in them “Do it!” The other woman opened her palm and a stone-like object appeared She said something in a strange language that sounded like an ancient language and suddenly fire erupted from the object burning upwards out of the woman's palm “No.” Celina screamed deeply and rushed to stop whatever evil the woman was consulting The man caught her before she could get to the woman and forcefully threw her back Celina fell to the ground bruising her legs and hands as she slid backwards and stopped by the door She ignored the pain, the bruise and the laceration on her skin and turned instantly as the trauma of losing Adrian overwhelmed her She watched in the greatest dismay of her life as the man took the stone from the other woman and threw it Celina screamed like a woman who had lost her senses She watched the stone, which was burning with an unusual dark fire as it moved in slow motion towards the circle where Adrian was trapped - the entire area within the circle that Adrian was placed turned into flames Adrian screamed with his entire strength as the dark fire burnt Celina got up and rushed again to the circle but the force around the circle obstructed her from getting to her son She hit the force with all she had, screaming with all her strength but nothing happened She turned to the man and rushed towards him in a frenzy manner ready to tear him apart, her eyes defined in deep red from crying but the huge man pushed her back and she fell to the floor like a bag of bones She yelled with all of her might, hitting the unseen shield wailing in a crazy mood “I want Marcus' daughter, Wanda,” the man spoke to the other woman in the long red cloak ignoring Celina's wailing “And let's not forget Zacharie's granddaughter 'Mia' too “Y-e-s,” she responded reluctantly, “this is one of the sanctified locations of the Vitrian and no demon will see or come near me once I step into the compound.” She spoke looking at her husband but he kept his gaze away, knowing what would come next in their discussion “The building is lit and warm Inside at the basement you’ll find beddings, toiletries, all you need for you and Wanda to lay on, and get some rest.” “I don't want you to go and leave us alone.” Sofia shook her head in objection “What if you never come back? What if it's all true but the demons you meet there are difficult for you to handle.” “Sofia,” Marcus turned towards his wife “I need to help Celina Alexis went to London on behalf of the Vitrians and his wife is now in danger I can't just leave her helpless and stay here with you and Wanda, neither can I take you guys with me By the way, there is no demon that I can't handle, you know that.” “You really will go to Celina, wouldn't you?” She said “You will leave your own family.” Her voice went an octave higher “What has she done to you all? She clearly has you under her control, under her spell.” She opened the door and stepped out in anger, holding on tight to her daughter whom she had under her winter jacket that was hanging over her shoulders without being properly worn She slammed the door shut in annoyance as he was about to speak and took a few steps towards the gate She purposely wanted him to know she was annoyed Marcus closed his eyes tight, angered by Sofia's reaction but knowing he was doing the right thing dropping them off in a safe place, he pulled the car back on the motorway and skidded off angrily Sofia took a deep breath and turned; she closed her eyes and hated herself for reacting like that Knowing the Vitrians; she knew that her husband, being a leader had to go and help others in danger but she was jealous, more so because it was Celina that he was going to help She was still in deep thoughts, standing in front of the gate when she sensed something was close to her She turned to the left slightly to see the figure of the creature as it descended It was huge, a Night Furfur one and half the size of the others that had been sent previously The woman in the hooded dress, who was consulting the demons to attack them had specifically sent this large one to Marcus knowing that Marcus is a very skilled fighter and Marcus could truncate the plan of killing The Chosen and every child similar in traits or connected to The Chosen The Night Furfur came down and immediately, Sofia herself knew it would take a miracle for her to survive The creature stood at over nine feet and huge, one strike of its talon in the right position was enough to kill any human Moreover, Sofia was not skilled nor had any training on how to fight it ∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞ Part 12 M arcus sped off with the car immediately he dropped Sofia and Wanda He was concerned about everything; Celina's claim that Adrian was dead, Xavier stating that he had been called by some other Vitrians, who had been attacked and Bathe he paused a bit, not knowing what was going on with Bathe “What are you doing Baths?” Marcus spoke out, although he was only talking to himself in the car “Where are you?” Still deep in thoughts, he then decided to give Bathe another call He dialed Bathe's number He wasn't expecting Bathe to pick the call when he suddenly heard Bathe's voice on the other end “Hi Marcus!” Marcus could hear some coldness in Bathe's voice “Where are you Baths?” Marcus went straight to the point “Why?” Bathe asked “I am taking a walk.” “A walk!” Marcus was shocked to hear the response “Why are you taking a walk at 3:56am?” “I don't really want to talk about it now.” Bathe tried to close the discussion about his being outside “No Bathe, we need to talk about it and ” “Marcus!” Bathe spoke with a sense of anger in his voice “Whatever Luciana might have said to you, I am not interested in it right now.” “Luciana?” Marcus was confused “I haven't spoken to Luciana but I have spoken to Xavier Didn't Xavier give you a call?” “No – Oh yes, he has called but I didn't pick his call.” “Why?” “I don't have the time right now Marcus.” Bathe sounded a bit irritated, almost like Marcus was bothering him “I have been busy,” he emphasized “Baths,” Marcus spoke out loud getting frustrated at the brashness of Bathe's attitude “Vitrians have been under attack A Furfur came for Wanda.” Bathe went silent for a while and then spoke “So where is Wanda now?” Marcus was shocked that he did not express any sign of surprise that demons had attacked them at home All his best friend had to ask for was his daughter Wanda “Could Bathe really have anything to with the attacks,” Marcus wondered as the reality of what Sofia was saying began to hit him too “Where is Wanda?” Bathe's voice was more intense as he seemed more interested in knowing about Wanda's where about He waited for Marcus' response “Wanda is okay ” “Are you at home?” Bathe inquired before Marcus could continue “I will come over now.” Bathe's sudden interest in Wanda and that he wanted to know if they were home was shocking to Marcus A demon can't easily find a specific person except it has been sent to track the person and the first place to check was usually the person's home Although he still did not want to believe his best friend would get into any form of sorcery and send a demon to his house to kill Wanda, he knew it was not safe to disclose where Sofia and Wanda were to anyone “No don't worry, we are not at home.” Marcus answered quickly, pushing off his best friend “I need I mean, Sofia, Wanda and I need to get to Celina She was attacked too.” Bathe went silent and Marcus continued but with a question, “Have you seen Celina today?” The silence continued, so he called him again “Baths Baths are you there?” It was obvious Bathe didn’t want to talk about Celina or reveal if he had been with Celina that night ∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞ T Part 13 he silence on the phone lingered for a while but Marcus kept calling out to his friend, Bathe He didn't want to accept what he thought might be and he could tell Bathe was already avoiding answering whether he had been to Celina's or not “Celina – Okay,” Bathe spoke softly He didn't seem to show any concern or interest, which worried Marcus He had expected to hear deep concern in his voice but Bathe sounded like he already knew Celina had been attacked and he was not interested in talking about her “What about her.” “Ooo-kay?” Marcus questioned “Have you been to Celina's Bathe?” He let out another question He began to put some thoughts together Bathe must have been with Celina at her winter home or might know more about the attacks than he was letting off He probably just left Celina and he’s on his way back to his house Bathe kept quiet for a long time, Marcus thought he had gone off “Baths,” Marcus called “Are you still there?” “I need to go Marcus,” Bathe suddenly responded brushing his friend off, obviously he didn't want to discuss about Celina His tone seemed venomous; he seemed enraged for reasons Marcus did not understand “I am home now; I need to check up on Luciana and Haakan.” Bathe cut off the phone call and stood at the entrance of the house He held on tightly to the phone in his hand in anger Celina's name reverberated in his head and it annoyed him After a moment of being in deep thoughts he looked at the door to his house and tried opening the door but it was locked He searched for his key and remembered he had left home in a hurry and in anger after a quarrel he had with Luciana He had said to her that he would go away for a day or two “Bam! Bam! Bam!” he banged on the door and waited but no one came to the door He tried the door handle again and pushed the door in annoyance but it was definitely locked He was about to bang on the door again when his phone rang He looked at it and saw Xavier's number He knew Xavier was calling him either because Luciana had called Xavier to complain that he had not been home for some nights or because of the attack Marcus spoke of Whichever was the case Bathe wasn't interested He ignored the call and banged on the door again, this time harder He was determined to wake up his wife but again no response He bashed the door again, this time much harder and finally, the door swung open Luciana was standing there, all dressed up and ready to leave with their little boy in her arms, but it didn't shock him Bathe's eyes twinkled like what he was looking at was no surprise to him Like he or Luciana separating was a logical decision for their marriage He had a smirk on his face like Luciana taking their argument about Celina to a new level and leaving him was the step he had wanted her to take for a long time ∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞ S Part 14 ofia swallowed hard as her entire body shivered at the sight of the massive Night Furfur demon in front of her, which stood well over nine feet She wanted to scream but she restrained herself She might not have been born a Vitrian but she knew what it was all about; demons fed on fear and she needed to exercise courage right now She stepped backwards slowly watching the reddened eyes of the demon The Furfur launched in a second, closing the few meters gap between them as she turned and rushed to the gate The Furfur caught her from the back as she got to the gate Sofia screamed Her world changed instantly as talons on the foot of the night Furfur dipped into her back The Night Furfur flapped its wide and huge wings and pulled toward the sky Within seconds, Sofia noticed her feet had left the ground; they were about two feet above the ground She screamed as fear began to set in; making a nest in her like a bird that had found the right place to make its home She was tilted gawkily because she wasn't wearing her jacket properly; she had only one arm properly worn She swayed in fear and she felt that she was about to fall as the Night Furfur only continued to pull her higher up into the sky She held on tight to little Wanda who was still in her arms but had suddenly woken up from sleep because of her mother's scream The Furfur had pulled her about five meters up into the sky before it occurred to her that she couldn't let the creature take her away She looked down towards the two inches wall around the church compound; she then remembered that all she needed to was to get herself into the compound Determined to get to safety, she slipped her right arm out of the jacket and turned sideways as she fell, tilting herself towards the compound so she would end up inside the compound and be safe She landed twisting her ankle as her right foot touched the ground at the same time the upper part of her back landed on the two inches tall wall, which was made of red bricks interlocking into one another “Ahhhhhhh! Ah!” Sofia yelled in agony with tears running down her face, as she felt excruciating pain in her ankle and back She had protected her daughter with her body but the little girl in her arms was now crying Immediately, she looked at Wanda; her face was defined with concern and trepidation that the fall might have hurt her daughter Sofia's fears were cut short as the Furfur landed on the ground a few meters in front of her; the winter jacket was still stuck in its foot She then realized that she had only landed on the wall with her legs still outside the compound so the creature could see her “No You shall not get me nor my daughter!” Sofia shouted out in confidence, though her eyes were red and still teary, she was determined to get rid of the fear that had overwhelmed her Her husband had taught her well, he had said to her several times, “to face a demon, you have to get the fear in you out, you have to fill yourself with courage.” She was about to turn when she felt the pain in her back, which hit the brick wall when she dropped She squirmed pulling her body and forcing it to go up above the wall but it was difficult She could feel the pain and it was excruciating She realized the Furfur’s talons must have dug into her back while she was pulled up into the sky She had enough knowledge of the Vitrians and knew that if the wound was not treated quickly, she wouldn't make it She tried to pull her body up again but it was to no avail; her back and ankle both hurt gravely The Furfur made a sound and its expression changed, like it knew what situation Sofia was in and it had met its prey for the night It suddenly moved forward at a fast pace, with its mouth opened wide and its fangs drawn out in full length; almost three inches long Its head went straight for the kill, towards the little girl Wanda ∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞ S Part 15 ofia mustered all the strength she could put together in her as the Furfur charged towards her daughter She groaned pulling herself together and then raised Wanda up in her arms She pushed Wanda up slightly and rolled her daughter above the wall to the other side The baby dropped on the other side of the wall crying incessantly as her little body touched the ground In that instant, Wanda disappeared from the sight of the Night Furfur and the demon became totally confused It stopped, shook its head and took a step backwards It narrowed its vision looking left and right but it could not see the little child or where she went The Furfur went towards Sofia who was no longer afraid, she could see the demon was confused and wanted Wanda at all cost It looked down at Sofia in anger and their eyes met This time, Sofia managed a smile, although she was breathing hard from the pains The fear had disappeared because she knew the creature could only kill her but couldn't touch her daughter “You shall not get my daughter,” Sofia said boldly She could truly see what Marcus had said, the compound was sealed with the Vitrians’ praying powers, no demon could see inside the compound, nor go through the walls The creature pressed its right leg's talons with the jacket stuck in it, into Sofia's right shoulder It dragged Sofia to the top of the half wall as Sofia screamed and made some sounds in a language that Sofia could not understand but Sofia could guess what the thing wanted It wanted Sofia to grab Wanda and pull her out of the compound Sofia screeched in pain and turned hearing Wanda's loud cry She knew Wanda was alive, although she might have been hurt from the fall “Never!” Sofia said looking back towards the creature “I would rather die than give my daughter to you.” The Furfur made the sounds again and pressed its talons deeper into Sofia's shoulder as she laid on the edge of the wall “Not even in death will I hand her over to you.” Sofia was full of confidence regardless of the excruciating pain she felt, knowing she probably would not survive but that her child would Her jacket that was stuck in the foot of the Furfur covered her body as the Furfur pressed its talons into her In anger the Furfur withdrew its talons out of Sofia’s body In excruciating pain Sofia's body followed the talons as the Furfur lifted its leg to pull the talons out The talons finally came out and Sofia's body dropped onto the edge of the wall again Then, with a greater force, the talons came down towards her again and this time they came for her neck, for a final kill ∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞∞ Hope you enjoyed reading so far?
