difficulties and convenience met during the translation a) The conveniences In the process of translating these articles, I had certain conveniences to help me complete the translations in a relatively effective way In particular, I have used the translation methods in my learning process into this translation process The first convenient things that I would like to mention during the translation is most of popular words used As we know newspaper is good social media to share current events around the world Because these articles are the hot topics at present and the authors will try to use simple words as much as possible to help everyone can read and understand easily Secondly, I am very interested in education , so it isn’t difficult for me to translate education-related topics, I can understand nearly all Finally, all theory in this report can be founded in last subjects and all skills are practiced in test exams I think that everyone will agree with me if we pay attention on these lessons, there are no more problems to complete this report b) The difficulties Pronoun In English, we have ‘ I, you, we, they, he, she, it’ with specific function for each word For example, ‘she’ is for the third person and used for female However, in Vietnamese, it is not so simple It can be seen that Vietnamese language system has a wide varieties of choice to address somebody ‘They’ might be translated into ‘ bọn họ/bọn chúng/chúng nó’ and it depends on specific context It was confusing for me to find an equivalent word in Vietnamese for the pronoun ‘they’ in the first article ‘ grading practices that should change’ Since the relationship between the author and students is teacher and students, I need to opt for an appropriate word in the target language to show the characterization of this Terminology Working professionally as a translator involves having sufficient knowledge in particular fields Whether it is legal documents, marketing documents or websites, these tasks are very different In the article number two ‘The effects of bilingual education on cognitive development and academic performance’, there are a lot of terms relating to medical sector such as ‘Lothian Birth Cohorts’, ‘AD pathology’ In order to translate these words, it takes a lot of time to read up on medical or psychological material Missing words Not everything translates For anyone looking to have documentation translated into a target language, that can be a scary prospect, but it's the straight up truth While the majority of languages will have words and phrases for most things, there are always certain words and phrases that are just either totally different or missing entirely from target languages It may not make translation impossible, but it does for certain make it a more challenging prospect, and further shows the need for someone working on any documents to be a highly skilled and experienced prospect indeed Multiple meanings English and Japanese are probably two of the most complex languages that exist on the planet, and although they are from very different ends of the spectrum in terms of alphabet, spoken language and geography, the two suffer from one very similar problem that can create a real headache for any translator anywhere in the world Words in each of these languages can often have a double meaning For example, in English, scales can either mean a part of a fish or a kitchen utensil, where in Japan, simply writing the kanji is not enough, because things can be written one way and said differently Both of these are common issues in their languages, and each needs an expert at hand at all times to find effective and accurate workarounds Cultures In some dialects, the written language is not confusing enough, so cultural differences also tend to come into the mix to make things just that little bit harder for the translator to deal with This is most common when dealing with any content in Arabic, where the cultural differences in spoken terms have leaked over repeatedly into regional variants of the written Arabic language, meaning that anyone who is looking to translate it needs to make sure they are taking time to not only start translating, but also working out who the original speaker was, where specifically they come from culturally, and then the same again for the speaker of the target language Translating specific content You must translate specific materials like fiction have to transcribe a whole story, context, world and environment into another language It involves creativity to transfer cultural values and traditions and to make them understandable and adapted without altering them: you have to remain true to the original piece How to handle these difficulties To turn translation challenges into opportunities and make efficient, accurate translations, you should: • Not be literal: adapt the translation to transcribe accurately the meaning of the message and use the proper expressions • Know about the industry, its technical vocabulary, its procedures: specializing in specific industries, fields • Have good communication skills: to transcribe a message without altering its purpose and keep its actual meaning As you can see, to be suitable for professional translations and to work for translation agencies that work with professional native translators, it takes more than just being bilingual It is about being able to find the right words to depict the right message in another language The quality of a translator’s work involves translating and localizing messages and documents accurately and accordingly, which is a truly rigorous work Part C: CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION Through training process at the “Inter level education consulting and training company limited”, I got a lot valuable working experience and soft skill In my opinion, these precious experiences will help me a lot for my work in future The following is some of experiences which I gained during this training couse The first, the training course brought to me the opportunity to use my English knowledge through communicating with native teachers and translating many education documents I recognized that my English is improved so much through practice I learned a lot vocabulary, information and knowledge in education as well as know how to use translation methods The second, I had chance to practice doing something in office Moreover, inspite of short time of training process, the internship course at Inter level education consulting and training company limited, I feel more confident and patien than before As the receptionist at the center, I also learned some good characteristics like attentiveness, initiative, loyalty, maturity, respect for confidence and discretion, a positive attitude and independence I feel grown-up with experiences in communication and translation, skills to solve difficulties These experiences, I always had written recorded carefully as “fund of knowledge” by myself After weeks of training process at Inter level education consulting and training company limited, I finished my internship successfully with the whole-hearted help and careful guidance of my supervisor Mr Nguyen The Hoa, the training guide Mr Nguyen Hai Dang and all the staff of Inter level education consulting and training company
