Outstanding Language Opportunities Education), belongs to GLN International Education, is one of the most prestigious English centers in Hanoi With more than 8-years experience in teaching English, particularly in IELTS training, GLN had got a lot of valuable awards such as: the Certificate of ISO 9001 – 2008 by the Buresu Veritas Certification in October 18th – 2012, Best Endeavour Award by IDP Education in 2013 and Best IELTS Partner of 2013 – 2014 by The British Council (GLN International Education) On the step of this success, GLN has started to expand its market to another fraction by setting up the new branch named JOLO, which provides the same learning program and course books but has the smaller class size and lower school fees After the JOLO Head Office and its branch were set up in Hanoi in September of 2013, the first branch of JOLO in Ho Chi Minh City was gone to work at 62 Vo Van Tan, Ward 6, District from the beginning of 2015 The main “products” of JOLO Education are the English courses such as: IELTS, English for Communication, General English, and Customized English JOLO also offers services for customers like registering for the IELTS test, operating the IELTS Mock test, English Clubs, and seminars to share the experience of taking the IELTS Test, getting the scholarship, and studying abroad (Jolo Education) Up to 2016, more than one thousand students at JOLO and GLN have got the IELTS degree with the band score at least 7.0 And the number of new students is going to increase day by day (See more in chart 1, appendix) This potential development is the result of the constant effort of all employees in the company In which, Admissions Officers, the members of Sales Department, play the impotant role in finding and contacting to customers – who make incomes for the company by paying thier fees, offering them the best after-sale services and turning them into new potential clients for the next courses and getting more profit in the future [Type text] For detail, the first duties of an admisstions officer are to take care and support current customers, establish new business relation and find potential customers To this task, an admissions officer has to understand clearly about courses, teachers and classes information, class models, similar course and competitors’ products Secondly, an admissions officer will contact to clients and collect all information from them to build up the company database Then, the next task is to arrange for the placement test and provide advises to client for them choosing the right course and take care of clients during and after the course If there is any complaints of clients, admissions officer has to collect and handle it within the scope of the delegated powers immediately In addition, admissions officer also act as an accountant by suppervising and following up the course fee payment process, collecting school fees and only completing the finance responsibility if the client has finished courses at JOLO Finally, admission officer sometimes the research on market to identify more exactly about the demand of clients as well as looking for the potential clients (See more about the research content at Appendix) To compelete these tasks well, admissions officer has to get all information clearly and carefully about the courses, the apartments in company, the usage and direction of office machines, and the way to access to company software system on the computer Morever, it is also necessary for admissions officer to join in all activities of the company and suporting other departments as assigned to get more information and experience to these above tasks more exactly, quickly and better [Type text] 3/ Working on EBM system 4/ Take care students after they joined in class As Week 4, & [Type text] Chapter 3: Analysis and evaluation 3.1 Problems In order to complete the internship, I had faced to a lot of problems from finding a suitable company, the nature of the job and some difficulties which are started from the lack of knowledge and skills of me First of all, it took me a lot of time to find the good company for my application Because some companies did not recruit the position related to my field of study, the others did but they accepted a lot of students in a very easily way and required a charge for students’ internships This problem made me confused and more careful in choosing the companies that I should apply Furthermore, I should have applied sooner because I did not realize that the respond of my application will be postponed by the Lunar New Year Holiday I had applied to some companies but unfortunately most of them waited until after the holiday to decide their requirement results This mistake made me start the internship later than expected After found the company, I had to face to the difficulty in the interview to be admitted Although I already prepared carefully, I were under stressful and anxious because of the two rounds of interview in both Vietnamese and English with Branch Director and General Manager Finally, I got over the interview successfully but there was still a problem in my personal document The company’s Head Office is in Hanoi while my work place is in Ho Chi Minh City I could only contact to HR Department by mail or mobile phone and had to notarize my personal documents at my home town – Long An province The separation of geography and the urgent time caused the final difficulty for me to be the official intern of JOLO Education Co., LTD Secondly, the essence of the job that I took intern is quite strange and different from what I had studied in university The nature of an admission officer is just a truly seller Being a seller means I am always under the pressure of targets which are daily, weekly, and monthly of not only my own but also of my group, my branch, and the whole company In addition, a seller, specially a service-education seller, is required the clever and delicate communication skills These problems made me realize that I cannot get these skills and deal with all of these things just by my knowledge at school [Type text] Finally, a lot of troubles are originated in my deficiencies The first one is the lack of understanding of the work in reality included communication skills, professional selling experience, making decision skills, est I had met difficulty in constructing nearly all my appearance and behaviors from my attitudes to even my tone of voice in order to be more professional and suitable with the job requirements The next one is the disability to adapt quickly with the new working environment I had spent a long time to get really familiar with the job and my colleagues Next, I sometimes could not balance the time between working eight hours per day and studying There were a lot of things of my work, my study, and the obsess of completing the internship report that made me always tired and want to give up at the first days of the internship In summary, either the objective troubles or the subjective mistakes are the unavoidable problems for any intern But these problems are not only the undeniable things that I have to confront but also the steps for me to develop One way or another, I had got the solutions to deal with them slowly but effectively 3.2 Solutions For each problem, I had definited what are the main difficuties or mistakes and found the way to deal with them one by one Below are some solutions that helped me get over these above problems For the hardness in the first steps of getting the intern position in this company, I had prepared for the interview carefully by searching the company information and the details of job decriptions All of these information helps me a lot in responding the questions of the employer more fluentcy and confidently Futhermore, the emotional skills play the very important role in the interview I had to practice so many times to be confident, active in fond of different kinds of questions that I may be asked in the interview I also have my friends share their experiences in their previous job interviews Thanks to these experiences and my careful preparation, I had got over the problem named “interview” and had the opportunity to be an intern in Jolo Education Co., LTD Next, the problems related to the nature of the job are solved not only by me but also by the support of my supervisor and colleagues Because the knowledge that I have got at school is not enough for using in the real working environment, I had found more [Type text] information in some commercial and self-help books to complete my shortcomings Besides, I spend a lot of time to practice at home to improve my communication skills, then apply them to the working time, get experience and re-practice until they become better Last but not least, I depended on my colleagues and supervisor for help when I was not experienced in business The suppervisor's enthusiastic guidance and the encouragement of colleagues have helped me a lot in overcoming the difficulties related to the nature of work Finally, the problems arising from my deficiencies were overcomed by my self- improvement effort I tried to apply my limited part-time job experience to complete assigned work In addition, I also effored to be more sociable by leveraging learning to talk to employees of different departments in the company When i was under time pressure, I made my own schedule and follow it as serious as possible Gradually, I had been adapting myself to the work and getting out of the feeling of stuck and discouraged The above listed solutions may not be the most optimal and efficient solutions to deal with the difficulties which I encountered in the internship, but that are all what I can At least, they had shown thier certain possitive progress in both the job and my attitude 3.3 Outcomes: The initial difficulties in the internship are sometimes frustrating; however, thanks to myseft improving manually process, I have achieved the first positive results First, I has been adapting and accepting the characteristics of the job After acquired customers and successful in consulting the first courses, I started to love and wanted to have a long-term commitment to this challenging and quite interesting work Besides, I also had a closer relationship with my colleagues as well as got familiar with the office work environment Moreover, I also became a confident, mentally active and more responsible person Thanks to the period of this internship, I have drawn a lot of valuable experience The first one is the practical experience which is directly related to the job content I was able to the tasks related to the sales and customer care fields as well as use the company software system I also got the standard behavior in the workplace environment Besides, 10 [Type text] the experience unrelated to the work content has the great value not only at work but also in other aspects of life That is the perseverance or patience Because the things are difficult, I had to effort to perform my tasks well, even the smallest things I also knew that each individual is a part of company and an element of society So i had to be socialble and integrate in order to catch the constant development of everyone After nearly two months took the intern as an admmissions officer, I think the achievements and experiences that I had obtained are really useful for me both in the course of current work and my job in the future *Evaluation The period of the internship not only gives me the esential working experience but also helps me to realize the strengths and weaknesses of myself During the internship period, I found myself some notable strengths as follows Firstly, I have basic knowledge of English, especially in the commercial sector It helps me easily to communicate with foreign teachers in the educational environment of an English Center Secondly, I have the ability of absorbing job quickly I am hardworking, diligent, and have a sense of responsibility so that I always try to complete the work assigned Finally, the accumulated part- time job experience in the field of sales helps me a lot in doing the tasks in my current job However, a fresh-graduated students as me can not avoid shortcomings and deficiencies In terms of knowledge, I lack of the practical knowledge such as the details of work content and work processes in the sales sector as well as the directions of using equipments or office machinery In terms of experience, I clearly not have enough experience in the field of professional selling In terms of skills, the ability to communicate to please and persuade customers and my negotiations are still quite limited My time management skills and emotional control skills also need to be improved a lot After reviewing my strengths and weaknesses, I am still in the process of perfecting myself Beside of my self-effort, the support of my colleagues, my supervisor’s encouragement, friendly teachers in the centers, the friendliness and openness of the 11 [Type text] participants, the joy of chatting with customers are all of my tremendous motivation to help me to promote the strengths and decide the weaknesses during the period of the internship *Company evaluation: I am pretty lucky to have the opportunity to practice in such a professional environment of JOLO I would point out the positive aspects and negative ones that I noticed in the course of working in this business as follows On the positive side, JOLO is one of the few businesses that give trainees the rights and obligations as a full time employee in the company Firstly, JOLO is quite professional and carefully in recruitment and training the intern For details, trainees had to pass two rounds of interviews, and two weeks before being the official intern Next, the intern in JOLO was trained about the discipline and provided instructions of conducting and following the regulation of corporate culture in a professional and methodical way JOLO is also enabling trainees to study and improve knowledge by participating in center courses to enhance their knowledge and get experience for consulting about the quality of this courses to customers more exactly and practically Beside of enabling trainees to work in a professional environment, JOLO also promotes the spiritual life as well as the relationship between trainees and other individuals in the company by holding the parties or giving the tours on the holiday However, the intern was not guided by a specific supervisor for the whole internship Because of personal reasons, the trainee’s instructor quitted her job in the first two weeks of my internship But the company did not allocate any other specific instructors to take her turns I was under the direct guidance of the Director General and did not have too much time to see her Most of my questions were cleared by my colleagues However, this external disadvantage is also considered as a chance for me to practice for being selfdiscipline, and having a closer relationship with colleagues 12 [Type text] Chapter 4: Conclusion & Recommendation At the beginning, I could not avoid the unexpected difficulties and problems; however, along with the enthusiastic encourage of the people around me, I have successfully completed this internship report This internship is a precious time when I had acquired a lot of useful knowledge and skills The process of internship helped me obtain a lot of new knowledge. The first is the actual knowledge about the sales and service fields as long as other related work in the office workplace. The second one is that my shortcoming has also been added and perfected during the internship, especially communication and time management skills, the skills of work organization and behaviors control. Therefore, I got the way to conduct a steadfast and stronger spirit to face with difficulties and failures at work and also in the real life In addition, I also had the opportunity to recognize and reassess the accumulated knowledge in university The teachers had brough up the background knowledge of English as well as the theoretical knowledge of comercail sector These core knowledge is the basic tool for me to be employed and have a chance to practice and work in this company The English for Secretary is a subject that I had a lot of practical knowledge from Because its content offers the vocabulary related to the content of the tasks in the office, and also the way of writing mails and letters Futhermore, I also know how to communicate in appropriate language at the workplace thanks to this subject However, these above knowledges are not enough for me to complete the assigned tasks in the real working environment I hope that Ho Chi Minh City Open University will organize more practice session in its current subjects Besides, outdoor and team activities should also be added to build a more dynamic learning environment At the same time, teachers should encourage students to bring up
