It is true that nowadays tourism are attracting more and more investment from government, particularly in some developing countries The main reason for this trend is the revenue it brings and in my opinion, this development has a large number of drawbacks The great expansion of tourism can be explanied by the economic profits that it generates A well-developed tourist industry not only makes up a significant proportion of both national and local incomes , but also leads to the development of related industries ,for example service industry When travellers visit tourist destinations, they contribute to the host’s country through the tax sysytem and by the money that they allocate for goods and services Additionally, tourism activities creates more jobs and businesses for the locals , which diminishes unemployment rate , as well as raises their standard of living However, the prevalance of massive tourism is a catastrophe for the environmental degradation it leads to in many parts of the world Generally, the growth in travelling is accompanied by excessive constructions of new buildings such as hotels, restaurants and shopping centers Consequently, the natural habitats are destroyed and the landscape is spoiled seriously Moreover, one of the principle causes of some kinds of pollution To illustrate, when influxes of people travel to a place in peak season, there are certainly tons of plastic waste created everyday Some developing nations does not have appropriate waste disposal technologies; therefore, rubbish is scattered over lakes, beaches or rivers and the water is severely contaminated In conclusion, tourism is promoted in developing countries for its economic benefits On the other hand, this is a disadvantageous tendency regarding its damage to the environment
