CALL FOR ABSTRACTS Abstracts are now being accepted for consideration as oral presentations at the 3rd International Symposium on Sun Bear Conservation and Management The symposium will be held on the 23rd and 24th March, 2021 in Hanoi, Vietnam, bringing together field researchers, conservation managers, welfare experts and environmental educators, as well as government and industry representatives to provide a platform for networking, collaboration and coordination of projects The symposium will provide simultaneous interpretation from English to Vietnamese, and Vietnamese to English Oral presentations will be organised into sessions: Captive management, welfare and reintroduction; Trade and demand reduction; Ecology, habitat conservation and population monitoring Presentations that provide new understanding, methodologies, solutions, and innovative ideas are particularly welcomed We are striving for a broad range of topics and broad geographical coverage We are seeking new material, not papers that have already been published or presented in previous conferences Presentations that help inform an improved conservation strategy are strongly encouraged We are planning lengthy Q&A for each session to allow time for a lively interchange of ideas If you submit an abstract, it means that you are willing to make an oral presentation, and also participate in the Q&A session Abstract Submission Guidelines All abstracts must be submitted electronically (see below) Abstracts must be prepared in English, following Ursus journal format All co-authors should be listed with affiliation details and contact information All co-authors must agree with the abstract Titles should be informative, and NOT include the scientific name of the sun bear Abstracts should be no longer than 300 words and should not include Tables or Figures The abstract should concisely present recent developments in research, management and/or conservation of the sun bear Research abstracts should clearly state the goals, methods, principal results, and major conclusions Non-researchrelated abstracts may deviate from this structure Do not use incomplete and uninformative descriptions (e.g "a new method of analysis was given") Use only well recognised acronyms (e.g GIS, DNA, CITES); otherwise define them at first use Avoid detailed results of statistical tests In submitting your abstract, please indicate in which session you wish to present Session topic choices are not guaranteed;
