Create SweptBlend Protrusion of RazorHandle
Set the working directory to e.g. ME-430 directory.
2
File -> Set Working Directory…
Navigate the computer file
system, and select the
working directory e.g ME-
430.
Click on OK.
Create a new part called Razor_handle.prt
File -> New or click on
3
Enter the name of razor_handle.
Uncheck the box of Use default
template.
Click OK.
Select the
mmns_part_solid
Template.
OK.
4
Now create the solid protrusion usingSwept Blend.
From Insert
pull down menu,
select Swept
Blend ->
Protrusion.
Choose,
Sketch Sec -> NrmToOriginTraj -> Done
Select Sketch Traj
5
Pick FRONT datum plane as sketching
plane,
then select Okay.
Top – Pick TOP datum plane as top
reference.
Close the References dialog box.
6
Select on Create a spline curve .
Sketch the spline as shown below as the trajectory of the
swept blend.
Be sure to stat drawing the spline from the origin.
There are five points altogether as shown.
The second point (next to the origin) should be parametrically positioned midway
between the first and third points.
Draw two construction lines; from the first to second points, then second to third
points.
7
Click and
draw two
straight lines.
Pick both lines, then right-
click mouse button.
Select Construction.
Click
,
Select the Equal constraint .
8
Pick both construction
lines (represented by
dashed lines), and the
length of the lines are
now equal.
Close the Constraints
dialog box.
Dimension the FIVE-point spline as shown below.
Click the
when finish with the trajectory.
Before you begin to sketch any sections, you will now be prompted for where all the
sections will be located. There will be a total of five sections sketched for this
protrusion. Two will be at the endpoints (mandatory) and the other two win be at
the datum points. The first location to be highlighted will be the second point of the
sketched trajectory.
9
Select Accept from the CONFIRM menu. The next point
will then be highlighted so Accept this location. Choose
Accept until all points are accepted.
To sketch the first section, accept the default Z axis rotation of zero. Sketch a circle
section as shown. Be aware of the start point location. The diameter of the circle is
7 mm
Click the
when finish with the first section.
The system will prompt for the Z axis rotation.
Accept the default value and sketch section number two as shown in Figure below.
Again, keep track of the start point, it must match up with the first section. Second
section is an ellipse : 10 mm x 5 mm - major and minor radii.
10
Select the ellipse icon
.
Draw an ellipse and modify the
major and minor radii of the
ellipse to 10 mm and 5 mm –
see figure.
Make sure the center of the
arc is located in the origin of
the current coordinate
system (light brown color).
Repeat the same procedure to sketch the third section, again using a Z axis rotation
value of zero. See Figure below. Third section is an ellipse: 9.0 mm x 4 mm in major
and minor radii.
[...]... sure to Preview your feature elements prior to choosing OK, to check for twist in the swept blend due to start points not lining up If there is a problem, use the "Sections" option from the dialog box and correct the problem 11 Click the when finish with the last section, then click the OK button to complete the swept blend feature creation The resulted creation is shown below Create Cylindrical Both... datum plane offset an arbitrary distance above the handle Click on the Datum Plane Tool 15 Pick the TOP datum plane and enter the Offset Translation of 20 mm Click OK The datum plane DTM1 is created Create a projected datum curve on the top right surface of the handle Edit -> Project… 16 Click the Surfaces collector and select the top surface of the handle – see figure Pick References from the dashboard... mm Be sure it is cut feature into the handle 22 Use the Change direction of the offset to the other side Click to finish the offset cut 23 Right-click the projected curve Project1, and select Hide Engrave Text Create a projected datum curve on the top left surface of the handle Edit -> Project… 24 Click the Surfaces collector and select the top surface of the handle – see figure Pick References from... selected, click OK -> Close Click In the dashboard, change the depth to 0.2 mm Be sure it is cut feature into the handle Use the Change direction of the offset to the other side Click to finish the offset cut Right-click the projected curve Project2, and select Hide 30 Change the color of the razor handle as shown below 31 ... option in the dashboard to Along direction Pick DTM1 datum plane for direction reference to Click finish the creation of projected curve Create an offset feature by pre-selecting the top surfaces of the handle as shown below Pick the top two surfaces by leftclick mouse button 27 Edit -> Offset Change the offset type from Standard Offset Feature to Expand Feature 28 Click Options from the dashboard, and... option in the dashboard to Along direction Pick DTM1 datum plane for direction reference to Click finish the creation of projected curve Create an offset feature by pre-selecting the top surfaces of the handle as shown below Pick the top two surfaces by leftclick mouse button 19 Edit -> Offset Change the offset type from Standard Offset Feature to Expand Feature 20 Click Options from the dashboard, and .
