Activity 3.3: Using Perspectives of Information This activity will provide you with an opportunity to think about the business challenge from the business and user perspectives. In this activity, you will look at the description of the current status of time keeping and billing for Ferguson and Bardell, Inc. and describe the information available from business and user perspectives. Objectives After completing this activity, you will be able to: ! Determine what information to look for, based on the business and user perspectives, when investigating a business challenge. Before You Begin This activity consists of small group tasks and class discussion. Materials To complete this activity, you will need the Ferguson and Bardell, Inc. case study in Appendix 1. Estimated time to complete this activity: 15 minutes followed by a 10- minute class discussion 20 Activity 3.3: Using Perspectives of Information Exercise 1: Identifying Perspectives in Information ! Develop questions from business and user perspectives 1. Work in small groups as assigned by the instructor. 2. Review the Time and Billing section in the case study. 3. In the space below, state the category of information, the topic, and the source(s) that provide information on the category. For example, the category might be technology, the topic might be the current Microsoft ® Windows NT ® network system, and the source could be support personnel. 4. For each perspective, note what information is currently present and what additional information you would want to gather for a perspective. For example, what information is applicable to the technology category from a user and business perspective? What additional information would you want to gather from each perspective regarding the technology category?
