Information is more important for decision makers, policy makers, planners, technologists, scientists, doctors, lawyers, etc Information is a livelihood for many people One can imagine the importance and the role of information from the fact that in America most of the people are working in information service sectors User needs and the requirements are also changed in the technology-driven society Information is not only available in one source but scattered in different forms as well The findings of the study show the respondent satisfaction of various e-resources About e-books 28.68% of respondents were satisfied followed by 27.50% neutral, 16.03% respondents dissatisfied, 14.70% respondents highly dissatisfied, and only 13.09% respondent highly satisfied About e-journal, 35.15% were satisfied and 30.73% highly satisfied with only 0.73% highly dissatisfied Chapter Exploring the Literature on Utilization of Open Educational Resources in Nigeria: Current Context, Potential Determinants, and Future Pathways 24 K N Igwe, Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic, Unwana, Nigeria This chapter looks at open educational resources (OER), the evolution and conceptualization, the empirical literature so far on utilization of OER in Nigeria, potential determinants of OER utilization, and the future pathways for OER as essential learning resources for functional education and training in the 21st century The open access movement calls upon researchers and academics to provide open access to their research works by either publishing their findings in open access journals that provide open access to their contents online or by depositing their work into repositories that make their content freely available over the internet Open educational resources (OER) are now at the forefront of education, knowledge, and skills acquisition across the universe This implies that OER can be used in all learning environments for addressing learning needs of different classes of individuals in the society There should be priority attention in developing ICT infrastructures at all levels of education in Nigeria, which is expected to facilitate unhindered exploitation of all kinds of existing OER across the universe Chapter Information Literacy Skills Among Students of Higher Education Institutions With Special Reference to Tamil Nadu 40 A Alagu, Alagappa University, India S Thanuskodi, Alagappa University, India All academic institutions find rapid growth in computer networks and the use of computerized databases to access information in their libraries Most academic libraries include hybrid libraries, which have e-library features and traditional library services It is difficult to use electronic information resources effectively without training Students need to obtain the skills to get information quickly and efficiently from electronic sources and become what is often referred to as information literate The human being is blessed with a unique ability to create something from nothing He creates, originates, innovates, generates, accumulates knowledge, produces works of art, and discovers the truth about the world he lives in What sets the information age apart from prior periods in history is the label we put on these intellectual creations These days the economy of nations depends upon buying and selling facts, ideas, knowledge This chapter explores information literacy skills amongst higher education students Chapter Impact of Academic Libraries on Career Development: An Evaluative Study 63 K Sakkaravarthi, Anna Centenary Library, Chennai, India M Aravinthan, Annamalai University, India Career development is a continuous process that continues and changes throughout Career development includes progression towards a desired future career It involves making maximum use of training and development programs to enhance job-related skills and, ultimately, their career It is observed from the study that one-third of the respondents have a higher level of perception towards resources provided by libraries for career development of MBA graduates Further, nearly half (49.5%) of the respondents have had moderate levels of perception towards overall level of usefulness of career development related resources provided by library, 27.7% of the respondents have had low level of perception towards overall level of usefulness of career development related resources provided by library, and the remaining 22.8% of the respondents have had higher level of perception towards overall level of usefulness of career development related resources provided by the library Chapter User Satisfaction With Library Information Resources and Services: Improvement and Innovation of Effective Activities of Research Scholars 81 S Muthuvennila, Alagappa University, India P Kannan, Central University of Punjab, Bathinda, India This chapter deals with the purpose of library resources and services stratification of users of Alagappa University Users are the most vital component of libraries Alagappa University Central Library provided the various types of services in RFID, Web OPAC, SMS and e-mail alerts, ETD, DLNET service, mobile-based digital services, etc The study covers 76 scholars out of 82 questionnaires distributed The questionnaires were distributed in 10 departments in the Faculty of Arts in Alagappa University The statistical techniques used for the analysis of data are the frequency, cross tables, descriptive statistics This chapter describes the use of resources and services, library services, services provided to the users, e-resources access at Alagappa University, scope and limitations of the study, and objectives for using the resources and services Alagappa University research scholars mostly used the library resources and services Chapter Usage of Social Media Among Information Technology Students of Alagappa: A Case Study 103 A Alagu, Alagappa University, India In this study, Alagappa University is used to analyze social media applications among many information technology students One hundred sixty-three questionnaires were collected from computer science, computer application, library and information science, and computational logistics department students ANOVA test, chi-square, and independent t-test were used to test hypotheses ANOVA t-test analysis showed that the frequency of using social media relationship with the department at the rate of f= 5.192, statistical significant level P=0.002 This study reveals that students are using social media sites such as Whatsapp, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, etc Information technology students often use social media for their educational activities Chapter Use of E-Resources Through Consortia With Special Reference to College Libraries 124 M Suresh, Alagappa University, India R Natarajan, Annamalai University, India A consortium is an association of two or more individuals, companies, organizations or governments (or any combination of these entities) with the objective of participating in a common activity or pooling their resources for achieving a common goal Library consortium gives the freedom for a library having a smaller collection to access any product at a nominal price The chapter has shown that 58 (31.53%) assistant professors occasionally use it, followed by 44 (23.92%) respondents using it frequently, 39 (21.2%) respondents use it rarely, 26 (14.14%) respondents use it very frequently, and 17 (09.24%) respondents never use it Chapter Research Output on Encephalitis Literature: A Scientometric Analysis During 2008 to 2017 143 N Rathika, Alagappa University, India S Thanuskodi, Alagappa University, India This study aims to evaluate the publications in Encephalitis journal during the year 2008-2017 The data were retrieved from the Web of Science database maintained by Thomson Reuters, analyzed using tools like HisCite and Microsoft Excel The adopts various method like relative growth rate, exponential growth rate, doubling time, degree of collaboration, etc Focusing on various aspect of the journal such as document types, year-wise distribution of publication, authorship pattern, institutions involved, countrywise, keyword wise distribution, etc The study reveals that Encephalitis published 6,405 articles The highest number of publications in terms of articles was in the year 2017 followed by 2016 The study shows that most of the papers (93.97%) were contributed jointly whereas 6.02% of papers were contributed by single authors It reveals that Vincent A is the most productive author contributing 65 (1.01%) of articles in Encephalitis The country-wise distribution shows that the highest number of contribution comes from the USA:
