Scenario As the Enterprise Network Administrator, you are responsible for maintaining connectivity between remote offices at your company. SanJose1 router is lo- cated at the corporate office and the Singapore router is located at one of the many branch offices. In the WAN, you’re using IPX EIGRP and you’re running IPX RIP on the LAN segments. Lab Tasks Build the network according to the diagram above and load the appropriate ‘broken’ configuration files to each router. Save the configurations and reload each router. Clock rates have been applied to all serial interfaces. Confirm connectivity by performing ipx pings between the routers. All pings should be successful. The three workstations in the diagram should have only IPX with NetBIOS support installed. If necessary, on the three workstations, in- 2-2 Semester 8 Internetwork Troubleshooting v1.0 - Lab 10.3.5.1 Copyright  2001, Cisco Systems, Inc. stall the IPX/SPX compatible protocol with NetBIOS support. Also, through the network properties enable file sharing on these workstations. Create a shared folder on each of these workstations. Scenario You have been asked to resolve a connection issue between hosts on network ABC1 and hosts on network ABC3. The users complain that they are unable to view a necessary shared folder on Host B via network neighborhood. Hosts A and C are able connect to each other. After reviewing the settings of Host B you determine it’s not a workstation issue. Step 1 Define the problem you are experiencing. Step 2 Gather relevant facts about the situation at hand. Upon examining the router, what factual information can you obtain from the router? Some useful troubleshooting commands are: show ipx route show ipx interface show ipx eigrp neighbors show ipx eigrp topology debug ipx routing activity debug ipx eigrp events debug ipx eigrp neighbor Step 3 Examine the facts you have just listed. Based on your observations, list some potential causes of the problem. 3-3 Semester 8 Internetwork Troubleshooting v1.0 - Lab 10.3.5.1 Copyright  2001, Cisco Systems, Inc. Step 4 Formulate an action plan to solve this problem. Step 5 Implement your action plan and attempt to fix the problem. Log all your changes. Step 6 What were the results of your implementation? Did it fix the problem? List your results and observations below. Are the shared folders available throughout the network? Step 7 If your solution did not fix the problem, repeat the process. If your solution did fix the problem, document your fix below. . Internetwork Troubleshooting v1.0 - Lab 10.3.5.1 Copyright  20 01, Cisco Systems, Inc.
