DESIGNINGBUILDINGANDFLOORDISTRIBUTORS When configuring a floor distributor, using KRONE HIGHBAND modules, a number of options are available to meet the requirements of each specific site. There is also a wide range of KRONE mounting hardware to suit all distributor sizes. The basic frame layout should comprise discrete fields as shown in the example below. It is good practice to balance up your frame, for example by positioning your work area field in the centre of the frame to segregate the vertical cabling and data ports on the floor distributor. HIGHBAND is unique in that it gives the user multiple cross connect choices based on the following two basic cross connect methods: 1. Jumper Cross Connect - For both voice and high speed data traffic. - The most economical method when there is infrequent need for changes or where better administration and control is required - Subsequent savings on patch panels and cords can be used to purchase additional data hub ports to liven up spare outlets - simplifying workstation moves and patch administration. 2. Patch Cross Connect - For both voice and high speed data traffic. - Provides the easiest method of cross connecting A combination of both jumpering and patching can be used for the optimum mix of methods to suit particular operational requirements, eg: Jumper the voice cross connects and patch the data This mix of methods could be used when flexible data configuration is required but the telephone environment is stable and the extensions can be changed electronically at the PABX. This mix would allow some cost savings. Patch-By-Exception This is the best all-round solution when you have a large number of cross connections (>100) and when: - Cost-cutting is essential - High reliability coupled with moderate flexibility and ease of use are essential. The PBE method facilitates administration and control of moves and changes. - High density Telco connectorised hub equipment is used. v D Incoming 25, 50 or 100 pair voice cable Jumper or HIGHBAND patch cord Jumper or HIGHBAND patch cord 4pr UTP Work Area Cables Multiple 4 pair to RJ45 patch leads* Vertical A HIGHBAND Vertical B HIGHBAND MODULES Vertical C HIGHBAND MODULES Vertical Cabling Work Area Field Data Field * Note: HUB can be patched directly to Vertical B using HIGHBAND to RJ45 patchcords *Note: KRONE LSA Plus Series 2 modules can be used in the voice or vertical cabling field where performance up to Category 4 is acceptable. This gives an advantage of increased density and provides the possibility for the fitting of over voltage protection should it be required on the distribution. .
