(1)UNIT 9: LESSON PLAN UNDERSEA WORLD Period: writing Supervising teacher: Ms Vo Thi Thanh Diep Trainee teacher: N.Phuc, M.Nguyet, T.Nguyet, V.Ngan, V.Thinh Class: Time limit: 45 minutes Lesson aims and objectives: By the end of the lesson Ss are able to make an outline from the passage and know how to write a paragraph To help Ss become aware of protecting the undersea world A Language focus: - Teaching point: note-taking, paragraph writing - Skill: writing, speaking, reading - Interaction patterns: individual work, group work B Educational objective: Teaching method: Communicative language teaching method C Teaching technique: visual aids, guiding question, outlining, paragraph writing Teaching procedure: Teacher’s activities & pedagogical indications LEAD-IN: (2 minutes) T asks Ss to tell information about Whales PRESENTATION: TASK1: - T shows a picture of a Whale, raises the following questions and asks Ss to read the passage and give full answer - T asks each row to finish a sentence - These are the questions: Where can Sperm Whales be found? What oceans they prefer? What are the weight & the length of male & female sperm whales? How much food they eat each day? How long is a gestation period? Students’ activities Ss listen to the T Some suggested answer: - One of the largest animals 30m in length & 200 tons in weight - Ss read through the passage & give answers; then Ss go to the blackboard to write down the answers Suggested answers: Sperm whales can be found in all oceans They prefer the waters with high squid populations Male sperm whales grow up to 18 meters in length & weigh up to 54000 kg and female sperm whales grow up to 12 meters in length and weigh up to 17000 kg They eat up to 1500 kg of food each day (2) How many years they give birth to one calf?
