Week: Preparing date: Period: Teaching date: UNIT 11: NATIONAL PARKS LESSON: LANGUAGE FOCUS • AIMS: By the end of the lesson, the students will be able to: - distinguish the sound /t/ and /d/. - pronounce the words and sentences containing these sounds correctly. - Use the third conditional sentence appropriately. - Feel more confident in pronouncing the words and the sentences containing the sounds /t/ and /d/ and in using the third conditional sentence. • TEACHING AIDS: - Blackboard, text book, pictures, sub- boards. • PROCEDURE: I. STABILIZATION: Greet the class and check Ss’ attendance. II. CHECK- UP: No. III. NEW LESSON: LESSON: LANGUAGE FOCUS Teacher’s activities Students’ activities PRONUNCIATION 1. WARM- UP: - Let Ss play the game: “ clap the board” - Divide the class into 2 teams. Each team chooses a representative to take part in the game. - Write some words on the blackboard ( the words contain the sounds /t/ and /d/). - Guide the game. - Read the words. - Give grades. - Declare the winner. - Lead to the new part of pronunciation. Sounds /t/ and /d/. 2. PRE- PRACTICE: Pronouncing the two sounds separately /t/,/d/. - Model the two sounds 2 times. Explain how these sounds are made. /t/ : press the top of the tongue on the upper - Listen. - Play the game. - Listen. teeth. /d/ : touch the top of the tongue on the upper teeth. - Get Ss to repeat the sounds in chorus and individually. 3. WHILE- PRACTICE: Listen and repeat: - Play the tape while having Ss listen. - Remind Ss how to read suffix “ed”: /t/: /p/, /k/, /f/, /tʃ/, /s/, /ʃ/. /d/: /t/, /d/. - Play the tape again while having Ss listen and repeat in chorus. - Call on some Ss to repeat. - Correct if necessary. Practise these sentences: - Ask Ss to listen to the tape to recognize the words that containing these two sounds. - Play the tape. - Ask Ss to practise in pairs. - Call on some Ss to go to the board to write down the words that containing the sound /t/ and /d/. - Call on some pairs to read out these sentences. - Call other to give comments. - Correct if necessary. 4. FREE- PRACTICE: - Draw some pictures and ask Ss to say out “ What is this?” Pictures: - Call on Ss to answer. - Give the feedback. - Repeat in chorus and individually. - Listen. - Listen and repeat. - Repeat. - Listen to the T. - Listen to the tape. - Work in pairs. - Go to the board and write down the words. - Read aloud these sentences. - Listen to the T. - Look at the board. - Answer the questions. - Listen to the T. Expected answers: - Duck. - Tiger. GRAMMAR 1. WARM- UP: - Tell Ss about the love of Romeo and Juliet. - Show the pictures. - Lead to the new grammar point: the third conditional sentence. 2. PRE- PRACTICE: - Give the example: If Romeo and Juliet had had mobile phones, they would have escaped successfully. - Elicit the form of the third conditional sentence from the class. - Give the form: conditional sentence type 3: If clause Main clause Past perfect conditional perfect ( had+ V.ed/V3) (would/ should+ have + Ved/V3) - Elicit the usage from the Ss. - Ask Ss: “ Did Romeo and Juliet have mobile Phones?” “ Did they escape successfully?”  Use: Use to say about unreal things in the past. 3. WHILE- PRACTICE: Exercise 1: Complete the following sentences, using the correct form of the verbs in brackets. - Show the example of exercise 1. - Explain the example. - Remind them what they should fill for the main clause or if clause. - Ask Ss to do this exercise in individually sentences 1.3.5.7. - Go around to provide help. - Call on some Ss to go to the board to write down their answers. - Check Ss’ answers with the whole class. - Give feedback. - Listen to the T. - Look at the pictures. - Give the form and the use of conditional sentence type 3. - Answer the T’s questions. EXERCISE 3: Use the given information to make conditional sentences with if; - Show the example of the exercise 3. - Explain the example. - Divide class into 5 groups, each group makes 1 sentence. - Give each group a sub- board to write their answer on. - If any group finishes their task, they can go to the board and paste their answer. - Move around to provide help. - After Ss finish, give feedback. - Listen to the T. - Work in groups to do this exercise. - Write down answers on the sub boards and paste on the board. - Listen to the T.
