Bài báo giới thiệu tổng quan về công nghệ mạng truy nhập quang thụ động Ethrnet 10 Gigabit theo tiêu chuẩn ieee Std 802.3av TM - 2009 với vai trò là công nghệ mạng truy nhập kế tiếp tốc độ cao có khả năng hỗ trợ cả tốc độ đối xứng hai hướng 10 Gbit/s và không đối xứng 10 Gbits/s đường lên và 1 Gbit/s đường xuống, trong khi vẫn duy trì tính tương thích ngược với các thiết bị Epon đã được triển khai.
