Domestic tourism refers to activities of a visitor within their country of residence and outside of their home - Inbound tourism refers to the activities of a visitor from outside of country of residence - Outbound tourism refers to the activities of a resident visitor outside of their country of residence Tourism is vital for many countries, due to the income generated by the consumption of goods and services by tourists, the taxes levied on businesses in the tourism industry, and the opportunity for employment and economic advancement by working in the industry For these reasons NGOs and government agencies may sometimes promote a specific region as a tourist destination, and support the development of a tourism industry in that area In this assignment, I am going to carry out the topic of “Tourism” Aims and Purposes of the assignment Hanoi Open University with the E-leaning program has provided students with a great amount of in-depth knowledge However, simply having a good academic standing was not enough to qualify you for a decent job When it comes to securing employment, most companies want to make sure the employees can put what they learned to practice Thus, internship is considered to be a crucial module which every finalyear students have to finish to graduate During this whole practical period, no matter how excellent the students are, there are still a wide variety of opportunities for them to practice their major skills and to get hands on experiences which are advantageous for them in the future jobs At the end of the internship period, students will be willing to seek for their desire professions as they are trained and consulted valuable advices from the company staff To help students complete the internship as perfect as possible, the administration of Hanoi Open University has created the best conditions for students to work in the best companies Following this plan, our group has trained in Sai Gon Holidays International Co.,Ltd The internship in Sai Gon Holidays International Co.,Ltd not only provided us a professional environment to experience and reinforce translating and interpreting skills but also created and built up their relationships which might help to get higher promotion in the future Scope of the assignment Due to limited time and knowledge, the thesis predominantly concentrates on the detail works assigned to the students during the internship at the company such as: updating the latest information in the field of tourism through newspapers and magazines, translating specialized documents and doing some other assigned office works Methods of the assignment The first method to be employed is information finding The information related to the topic of tourism are gathered, analised and carefully chosen to collect the most suitable articles for the work of translation Next, when the articles are chosen, the methods to translate are adopted to finish the assignment Some common stages involved in the process of translation have been suggested by several authors (Beaton, Bombardier, Guillemin, & Ferraz, 2002; United States Census Bureau, 2001; Weeks, Swerissen, & Belfrage, 2007):  determination of the relevance or context,  forward-translation of the research instruments (i.e topic guides),  backward-translation,  examination of the translated meaning in both source and target languages, and then finally  revisiting the whole process to get similar interpretations Design of the assignment Week Given tasks - written in descriptive style It explains the events to the reader in details by creating a vivid image The authors concentrate on talking about the subject without voicing their personal opinions Sometimes, descriptive literary genre is poetic in nature in, where the author specifies a happening, an object, or a thing instead of merely giving information about an incident that is going on Usually the outline incorporates sensory details 3.2 The convenience and difficulties met during the translation 3.2.1 Convenience The way of thinking has a significant impact on the quality of translation from English to Vietnamese and vice versa First of all, it is noted that words inherently have two layers of meaning: the class of social contract meaning and the class of connotation The class of social contract meaning is the class of floating meaning, the class of association meaning is the class of hidden meaning According to the principle of "iceberg", the floating part accounts for only 30% of the iceberg, while the submerged part accounts for 70% of the iceberg That means that the other class of connective meaning determines the translation content, not the social contract meaning class The meaning of social contract is very diverse, depending on the 36 circumstances An English word can have the meaning that is equivalent to many Vietnamese words and vice versa, a Vietnamese word can be expressed in many English words The connective meaning is more invisible, abstract, and more vivid The word "lookup" actually applies only to the social contract meaning class, not to the association meaning class The meaning of the social contract is the body, unable to move or think by itself Associative meaning is the soul, can move on its own, and think When translating, if this connective meaning is promoted, it will be easier to be aware of the original text content and look up 3.2.2 Difficulties The above principles are considers some tips playing a supporting role in translating from English to Vietnamese, or from Korean to Vietnamese, Japanese to Vietnamese, or Chinese to Vietnamese and vice versa However, experience is the most important factor determining both the quality of your translation and the speed of your translation Translation requires continuous learning, learning for life A person must spend to years in university and after graduating, they have to work for a while to be able to fully understand a particular field of expertise Meanwhile, the I can only gain knowledge from books and information on the Internet This large information gap makes it difficult for me to produce a quality translation on schedule as desired by the customer Reading books about the areas of expertise that I need to more in order to translate combined with chatting and communicating with those professionals regularly will help speed up your translation and the 37 quality of your translation In addition, I also need to continuously practice your skills in using both the target language and the source language Part C: CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION From the work during the internship at Saigon Holidays Travel company, I learned a lot of practical experience Deeper understanding of known problems, expanding and absorbing new things, learning the ability to link problems together to learn creatively But what is learned from the practice is extremely great, overcoming old learned problems no longer suitable with reality, supplementing knowledge support for themselves I have drawn a few conclusions as follows: 1, Interpreters require knowledge in many fields Many translators today are also specialists in a variety of fields such as business, art, law, medicine, medicine, finance and more They use their bilingual language and years of practical practice to become translators and experts in their field 2, Pass the language proficiency test You can increase your resume by passing language proficiency tests This proves that you have enough foreign language skills to work Some organizations, schools and many translation companies require that a translator be qualified in a foreign language 3, Get work experience Industry experience is important for new translators entering the profession To gain experience, you can start by working as an intern 38 When you have some experience, you can look for a job at a basic level If you want to become a translator experience is essential You need experience not only to improve your skills at work, but also to allow you to gain the trust of your clients, helping you to get a longterm job 4, Learn to market for yourself Marketing yourself is important if you decide to go freelance or even if you are looking for a job as a translator Search translation companies, organizations, government agencies that can search for translation You can create a website, blog and join Facebook translation groups to start building your network You also need to pay attention to
