(1)Le Thi Thuy Hong – DHNN- DHQG Lesson Plan UNIT 12: THE ASIAN GAMES Speaking CLASS DESCRIPTION: forty seven students in class 11A1 of Xuan Dinh high school, 16 boys and 31 girls TIME: 45 minutes OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to: - Asking and giving information about the Asian Games - Talking about sports results of the Vietnamese athletes ANTICIPATED PROBLEMS: The class is crowded; therefore, speaking lesson may make a bit noise METHOD: Integrated, mainly communicative TEACHING AIDS: textbooks, cards , visual aids, handouts PROCEDURE: Time 5’ Teacher’s activities Students’ activities I Warm- up activity: - T divides class into groups - Each group has one representative to go to the board - write the names of sports - Asks group leaders to go to the board and on the board write down the sports they have learnt Suggested answer: Which group has more correct words will be 1/ Bodybuilding the winner 2/ Shooting Lop11.com (2) Le Thi Thuy Hong – DHNN- DHQG 3/ Billiards 4/ Karatedo 5/ Football 6/ Cycling 7/ Volleyball 8/ Table tennis 9/ Wrestling 10/ Boxing 11/ Squash 12/ Rugby 13/ Fencing 14/ Mountain biking 15/ Basketball Lead in: 16/ Aquatic sports “Where these activities take place ? 17/ Athletics “Today , you are going to talk to Asian 18/ Weightlifting Games and some Vietnamese famous 19/ Hockey athletes.” 20/ Basketball 4’ II Pre- speaking: - Give meaning of some new words given in the book - Write down the words in Vocabulary : the notebook + Host country : nước chủ nhà + To take part in : tham dự , tham gia + Bronze medal : huy chương đồng Lop11.com (3) Le Thi Thuy Hong – DHNN- DHQG 15’ III While – speaking: Task 1: Work in pairs Ask and answer questions about the Asian games, using the information from the table below - Asks Ss to open book to p 139 - Asks them to read the examples carefully - Look at the book Then asks them some questions about the - Answer teacher’s examples: “how many questions are there? questions What are the questions?” => make similar conversation as the examples A When and where were the 1st Asian Games held? B : In 1951 in Qatar A How many countries took part in the Games? B: Eleven A How many sports were there at the Games? D: As seen in the table, they won………………in……………, won…………….in……………… A: At the 14th Asian Games, the Vietnamese athletes won………………….in total - T sets time limit of 5’ for Ss to practice - T walks around to control - After that, T calls some groups to go to board and practice the task - Give feedback 5’ III Post –listening : - One student will go to the - Gives the game “who I am?” board - Calls student to go to the board, that one - The whole class set plays the role of one famous athletes questions The rest of the class will ask “Yes-No” - The student on the board questions to that student and guess who he/ only says “Yes/No” she is 1’ IV Home work: - Prepare for the next lesson Lop11.com (6)
