Lesson: LISTENING

I OBJECTIVES : By the end of the lesson, students will be able to develop such listening micro skills as intensive listening for specific information and taking notes while listening

II TEACHING AIDS : Textbook, photos, CD, posters … III. PROCEDURE :

Warm – up(5’): Game : Word square

- T sticks two posters on the BB

- T divides the class into two teams

- Each team will choose a leader

- T gives the instructions:

+ Each word square has the words or names relating to the football

+ The leaders of the two teams will go to the BB to cross the words

+ Two teams will have minutes to play the game

+ After minutes, the team who gets more correct answers in the shortest time will be the winner

The words: Score Team Goal Pele 2 Lead in(1’):

- After Sts finish the game, T shows a photo and asks Sts:

Do you know the name of the person in the photo?” (Answer: yes,

Pele)

- T says, “Ok, today we are going to learn about him.”

3 Pre – listening(12’):

A.Vocabulary (5’): - Kicking (n): cú đá. Illustration technique.

+ T will show the photo and asks Ss to guess the word - Hero(n) : anh hùng

Explanation technique.

+ T gives the sentence “Super Man, Ho Chi Minh etc are the heroes.” + T asks Ss to guess the word

- Retire(v): nghỉ hưu Explanation technique.

+ A person stops doing his or her job - Ambassador(n): đại sứ

Translation technique.

- Promote(v): đẩy mạnh, khuyến khích

Synonym technique : encourage.

B Checking vocabulary (3’): Rub out and remember

- T calls on some Sts to answer

- T plays the CD again to check the answers

6 Homework and evaluation(3’):

- T asks Sts to learn the words they have studied

- T asks Sts to write about a football player they like (using the

form in Pelé’s life)

- T asks Sts to prepare for the writing period

- T encourages the Sts who take part in the lesson actively

- T reminds the Sts to be more active in the next periods
