Here it is Thank you very much That’s fine Okay so to start off, let’s talk about your home town Yes Where is it? Mmm I came from Djakarta Okay That’s the capital city of Indonesia Okay and what kind of place is it? Big city? Uh It’s a very big and crowded city Okay, mm-hm, and what is the most interesting part of Djakarta? Uh, for me, the most interesting part is, uuuh, the mall Mm-hm Yes, I like to go to the mall Okay, alright And could you describe the climate in Djakarta? Uuuh It’s hot it’s like, uh, summer in Syd Sydney but maybe a little bit warmer It’s around, uh, 25 to 32 degree Okay, alright, and would you say Djakarta is a good place to live? Uh, certainly And why is that? Mmm, I us I usually, uh, um, doing sport I like to play, uh, table tennis and I also learn how to play tennis nowadays and okay And you have a hobby that you regularly? Yes, uuh, I like martial art Okay Yes, I learn Hapkido in Indonesia, that’s the Japanese martial art Okay And I also, uuuh, reading I also reading I like to read biography and history Okay, okay, alright And you like to spend your free time alone or with somebody else? Mmm, it depends, it depends on the mood Okay Sometimes I prefer to stay, uh, to go alone and sometimes, uh, go with my friends Okay, alright And how important you think it is to have free time? Mmm it’s very important, otherwise we’d all be stress and I think by having free time we can reduce our level of stress Then when we go back to work, uh, it will be more fresh Okay That’s very true Okay so let’s now talk about food and cooking Who does most of the cooking in your house? In Djakarta? Uh If you like, yeah In Djakarta, my mother my mother that My mother is an excellent cook What kind of food does she cook? Uuh she can cook Indonesian food and Chinese food Okay and what is your favourite dish? Uuh my favourite dish is Indonesian food It’s called gado gado It’s a mixture of vegetables and with, uuh peanut sauce That’s delicious Gado gado Okay And what you think is a healthy diet? Healthy diet uuh I think a healthy diet is good for everybody because, uh, it will if you eat healthy diet you will be you can live longer than if you eat a lot of junk food I think, uh, that’s a problem for many people nowadays because they eat too many junk food Part 2: Individual long turn Interviewer: Candidate: That’s true Okay Okay Now I’m going to give you a topic You need to talk about it for one to two minutes You have one minute to think about what you are going to say, okay and you can take notes if you wish there’s Okay, I would like you to describe a popular form of exercise in your country Exercise means, uh, sport? Interviewer: Mm-hm it can be sport Interviewer: Actually you have one minute for this And don’t worry if I stop you I’ll tell you when the time is up You can start speaking Candidate: Mmm in my country, uuuh usually people like to the , like to play badminton .uuh because, uuh, I don’t know why but in Indonesia people love play badminton so that’s why in Indonesia there are a lot of good player and they become world champion in badminton And the other, uh, the other sport and exercise they usually is, uuh, jogging and cycling – they usually that, uuh, during the weekend and, uuh, usually on Sunday because on Sunday usually, uh, in my home town in Djakarta usually the local government block the main road so people can the jogging and cycling in that main road so that’s, uuh, the other, mmm, the other exercise maybe, uh, they like to play, um, tennis so that’s why there are also some good tennis player in Indonesia Interviewer: Okay, and you play badminton yourself? Candidate: Yes, sometimes Part 3: Two way discussion Interviewer: Candidate: Okay, alright So we’ve been talking about, uh, a popular sport in Indonesia so I’d like to ask you some more questions in that general area So, could you suggest some of the health benefits of exercise? Health benefit mmm by doing the exercise, uuh, I think we can keep our body healthy and, mm, if we have, uuh, healthy body I think we can work much better and we can have, uuh, clear mind on doing our work and in that, umm, the other the other benefit may be, uh, it can prolong our life Interviewer: That’s true Okay And could you explain some problems that people may have exercising, when they are exercising Candidate: Problem they may have Interviewer: Mm-hm Candidate: Uuh, even, uh, why people don’t want to, uh, exercise, something like that? Interviewer: Well, yes Candidate: Maybe sometimes people don’t want to exercise because they are too lazy to that because, uh, they are too lazy to wake up early to, uuh, the sport and then, uh, maybe in some cases for example in my country, uuh, maybe, uh, the facility is not enough to the sport That’s why people don’t the sport Interviewer: So you talked about facilities Could you describe some facilities that governments or cities build for where people can exercise? Candidate: Mmm usually the government in my in Djakarta, uuh, they usually build, uh, some gyms and they usually build, uuh, badminton court, football court and Interviewer: that sort of thing Okay, and could you outline the advantages and disadvantages of exercising alone or as part of a team? Candidate: Mmm the advantage uuh, maybe for the, uuh, exercise with the team maybe it can develop your skill on teamwork Uuh, and I think that skill is very important especially, uuh, when you are working, and working as a team that’s, uuh, if you must help and, mmm disadvantage I think there’s no disadvantage on doing the team team sport Interviewer: Okay How about then the could you assess the importance of large sporting events such as the Olympic Games for example or the Rugby World Cup we have at the moment? Candidate: Mmm the advantage for the country? Interviewer: For example, yeah Candidate: I think that’s good for the country because it can, uh, enhance your tourism and it can be, uuh, it can become entertainment for local people and I think it can also, uuh, give a lot of income to the country Interviewer: That’s true yeah, mm-hm Okay, you mentioned earlier why people may not get enough exercise because they’re lazy Could you think of other reasons why people may not get enough exercise? Candidate: Mmm May be because they are too busy, too busy working maybe, or studying, so they don’t have time to that Interviewer: That’s very true, right And finally, could you identify the value of exercise or sport as part of the school program, the school curriculum?
