Period 85 : UNIT 14: THE WORLD CUP PART C : LISTENING I Objectives:

- By the end of the lesson, students develop such listening skills as intensive listening for specific information and taking notes while listening

- Students should know how to ask and say about famous football player’s background II Teaching’s materials: textbook, the windows media player,…

III Language:

* key vocabulary : goal scorer, kick, retire, ambassador…

V Teaching’s technique: Listening for general or specific information, taking notes. IV Time: 45 minutes.

(3’) - ask sts some questions

1.look at the pictures in the textbook what do you know about them? (name, country). 2.Who you like best? Why?

3 Do you know anything about Pele? + Where and when was he born ? + What was he good at in football?

+ How many goals did he get in his caeer?(1284 goals)

- listen their answers and correct it

-answer some questions

Before you listen (8’)

- use pictures in book to explain some new words

Task 1( work in pairs)

- ask students read the information in the table

- play the windows media player and ask sts to listen three times

+ The first time, ask sts try to write down only most important and relevant

information

+ The second time, ask sts to use the information they’ve noted and try to complete the table

+ The third time, pause at each sentences for sts to complete all the table

- give sts to complete the table - After min, ask sts to give their answer - ask sts to give evidence to support their answers

- play the windows media player again one by one to check sts’ answers

- give the suggested and correct answers
