2.1 Complex sentences.
Câu phức câu có mệnh đề phụ thuộc (dependent clause) mệnh đề độc lập (independent clause) liên kết với nhau, sử dụng liên từ phụ thuộc gọi Subordinating Conjuntions
Một số liên từ phụ thuộc dùng để liên kết dependent clause với independent clause: although; though, even though

2.2 Phrasal verbs.
Phrasal verb kết hợp động từ hai tiểu từ (particles) Các tiểu từ có
thể giới từ (preposition) trạng từ (adverb). Tuy nhiên thêm tiểu từ vào sau động
từ, nghĩa phrasal verb hoàn toàn khác biệt so với động từ tạo nên
Các em cần ý số cụm động từ tách rời không tách rời
- Một số cụm động từ không tách rời như: set off, look forward to, put up with…… - Một số cụm động từ tách rời như: put s.th on, turn s.th/ s.b down, ……
2.3 Comparison of adjectives and adverbs.
- Các em dùng thêm từ sau trước so sánh bằng để làm nghĩa rõ ràng hơn: exactly = just, nearly= almost, hardly, twice, three times…
- Dùng cụm từ much, a lot, a bit, a little trước so sánh để mức độ so sánh
- Có thể dùng với by far, second, third….…trước so sánh nhất để nói rõ chênh lệch đối tượng đứng với đối tượng khác
2.4 Reported speech
Khi tường thuật, ta cần lưu ý số vấn đề sau:
+ Nếu động từ tường thuật (reporting verb) chia giữ ngun (tense) động từ chính, đại từ định trạng từ nơi chốn trạng từ thời gian
+ Nếu động từ tường thuật (reporting verb) câu khứ phải lùi động từ q khứ bậc thay đổi trạng từ nơi chốn trạng từ thời gian
2.5 Question words before to – infinitives.
Đây dạng câu tường thuật, động từ nguyên mẫu có to (to-infinitíve) dùng
sau từ để hỏi what, when, where, who, how (nhưng thường không sau why)
Cấu trúc diễn tả ý bắt buộc khả xảy
- Ta thường dùng động từ: ask, wonder, (not) be sure, have no idea, (not) know, (not) decide, (not) tell trước vấn từ để hỏi + to – infinitive
