to express difficult or uncertain situations Example:

We don't know who we should contact. → We don't know who to contact

III Question words + to-infinitives

to report questions about sth that should be done Example:

“What should I do?” she said → She wondered what to do

Look out!

“if” cannot be used before a to-infinitive.

* Yes/No questions

Ex: ‘Should I tell my parents what I really think?’ she wondered
